When I played college football in the 60s, It was Thursday before my body recovered from the game the previous Saturday. Also, if I was at full ability 2 to 3 games out of ten, it was a good season.
I think a Speed option and triple option with Avery and Dylan, as well as DJ in with the triple option would be extremely hard to stop on defense. All three in the backfield, any of them could get the ball.
@ryanmartin34 I remember Roberson and Beasley would also pass out of it, they'd start running the speed option then all the sudden drop back to pass, that worked really well too.
If LHCBS was still in charge with Avery as QB, poor Avery would be one full length body bruise on Sundays. He would probably also have 100+ yards rushing and 200 yards passing. I know it's an improbable fantasy, but can you imagine Avery carrying 215 pounds while maintaining 95% of his current athleticism?
@rjwiechman I really think that was mainly with Collin Klein, I don't think most of the other qbs got ran that hard, even Roberson, Bishop and Beasley. We also had Jake Waters when Tyler Locket was here, whe mostly threw the ball and ran sparingly. I do think Avery will put another 10 lbs a year on in the next couple years, I can see how being at playing weight of 205 without losing his speed.

Averys body language was so much better which was a reflection of his confidence
Damn bro, you go way back.. 😅

The old grid iron!
Did y'all lift weights back then? Makes a great deal of difference when you are in great shape!!
Looking forward to reviving a classic Big 8 rivalry.
Avery Johnson is a great RB, below average QB
CU will clobber Kent state by 3 TD's. They have no defense.
Too bad for them they are not playing Kent St!!!😂
Force their QB to throw. We should get this win. Watch out for RB wheel routes

We must do this
@ryanmartin34 we used to do thos all the time back with Roberson and Sproles, it was a thing of beauty. Beasley and Bishop also ran it.

Just here for the Dylan talk and cu talk
Dylan left CU and became a 3rd string RB😂
@@Hidden-comment164He ran all over you 😂

CU is tough… K state has been playing slow lately…
CU gotta mix it u on defense.play some zone with this QB.. he can tuck it and scrammble
They will that’s what they did with UCF that’s why Travis caught a pick, cover 2
Well ol boy was runner too
Spy
Cu buffs defensive ends n linebackers to good for avery
If he runs like UCF guy he better be ready for those hits cause they’re coming .
