- Found Throughout Oceania the Eclectus parrot has to be one of the most strikingly beautiful birds on earth!
These tropical parrots are found in rainforrest environments in northern Australia, Papua New Guinae, Indonesia, the Solomon Islands and several other Pacific Islands where they live mainly on fruit.
While Parrots are well known world wide for being colourful the Eclectus parrot is a rarther unique example of sexual dimorphism where the female is a brighter colour then the male

Wow! Australia has some really unique animals!!
Tara BelleRose yeah we are pretty spoilt for sure!
I’ve always wondered why the females evolved the sexual dimorphism that they did, thanks for sharing! Eclectus parrots certainly have some of the most fascinating reproductive habitats of any species I know. Can’t wait for more, and hey well done getting the patreon up!
I like the fur like quality of their feathers. Such amazing birds! Thanks Nick
Beautiful parrot 😊 Great vid showing off all your gorgeous native animals.
I have just adopted a disabled Ecky to my family of...2 dogs, fish, bearded dragons, blue tongue lizard, axolotls and cockatiels. What a beautiful and intelligent bird. Your videos are great, have just subscribed. Keep up the awesome work!!!
Tania Anders I am adopting a special needs ecky too. He is 25 and has had a head trauma at some point which caused him to start plucking his feathers. He is also a bit wobbly and doesn’t fly. He has recovered so much since he was rescued but he still has a ways to go.
thanks so much nick, i recently got myself an eckie and this video makes me excited for when he grows up!!
They're all gonna get a go. That gave me a good chuckle.
if you could do a captive care video that would be super cool!
My male hates fruit except for berries. My female eats anything you shove at her though. I don’t give them seeds. Made that mistake once and they refused to eat anything else. 😂
I love your accent! We'll hopefully get our male ecci next year, cant wait! Still looking for a short name tho..

jade jemma You are now a qualified parrot owner. Haha
As a avian expert. You should not be displaying this particular bird as this bird in the video is quite unwell and possibly neglected. It has been plucking its wings and appears to have other feather damage. This bird needs to see a avian vet and or also have its environment reviewed as something is wrong with this bird. I feel bad for it.

I tend to agree with you
Firstly this obviously isn’t my bird and the environment he was kept in on the day of filming was certainly akin to the set ups I’ve kept eclectus parrots in at zoos all over Australia
I was told he was a notorious feather plucker in his previous home and at the time (this was several years ago and the first time I had ever been invited to film somewhere else) had been steadily improving
Still in hindsight I should have turned down the chance to film with him, but I do stand by the information shared in the video. Also I certainly have not copied another video, but facts are facts and there’s only so many ways to say something
I’d really love the opportunity to film with a pair of eccies and re do the video if anyone out there has a tame pair I can feature
That being said I’m always striving to improve and Hopefully some of our more recent videos are more up to scratch to you
Also you've just be saying the exact same words another video has already used. Very poor video and animal condition.
