- Top Gear and Grand Tour stars being bad with tech as they are old and don't know how to do things. Hammond is hardly involved but kept him in.

One of my all-time favourite jokes from Top Gear. Absolute classic.
😂😂 My favourite line all the time
Just as good as when James once tried to launch a rocket with a lighter 😂

or when james broke stalins house.
For some reason, Richard saying “it’s 2006!” sounds more dated to me than Jeremy asking “Where’s the turntable?”.
How does Richard saying "It's 2006!" sound dated to you when it episode was filmed in 2006?
People said "It's 2006" because it was the current year, just like people say "It's 2021" because it's the current year.

@@automation7295 All your "friends" just keep you to laugh at you when you are not around.
@@automation7295 this comment feels so dated now that it's 2022
@@automation7295 what he meant is turntables are having quite a renaissance so they dont make it feel as old as proclaiming that "its 2006"
The law: You can't use your phone while driving because safety.
Lexus: Have a mouse.
At least you won't be fiddling with pressing tons of buttons to get your destination onto your screen because the operator at lexus does it for you
@@justcows7772 Safety
@@justcows7772 Bigger, doesn't require you to hold it to your ear, but still dopey to make or receive phone calls while driving anyway
@@justcows7772 It's a big touchscreen and it's a lot quicker and safer to tap something big on a screen and keep your eyes mostly on the road than to have to fiddle around and keep track of a mouse and drive at the same time.
A large touchscreen console is arguably safer to use than a mouse. Or it is, in my mind, at least.
Hopefully touchscreens will have textures or a tactile interface soon so you can feel them without looking (like old-school buttons).
May : do you use differential throttle or differential pitch?
Clarkson : *yes*
programmers all over the world cheering

Lexus: use our mouse to navigate through our complicated menus while driving,
Also Lexus: let us connect you to our living breathing navigation assistant specifically for your LFA to help you
Who may or may not get all snarky at you when you can't input the directions yourself
whoever decides nipple mouse for UI control should be fired. honestly, ipod wheel or simple d-pad would have been so much better. I get that it took them 10 years, but still.
The fact that it actually calls someone who puts in the destination for you is hilarious
@@hukama6911 depends on how advanced the rest of the system is. I certainly prefer it over the touchpad on my Thinkpad.
I wonder how much use those people get because there are so few LFAs and most of the few in existence are sat in garages to be rubbed with a diaper for the rest of their lives, only to be passed down to a son and sold soon after.
In the leaf: "It's talking..." 😂😂😂 It genuinely scared him lmao
Hahah, lol
He was truly shocked and disoriented.
I am blessed that my leaf does not do that
@@jaysmith1408 it does that in carwings mode which i think was discontinued a while ago
2:39 As someone who's 22 years old, I have no fucking clue what "Block 5A" means either.
It's DAB+ radio
It’s to set ur presets for ur radio
I think it refers to the reactor block in the engine that will go into melt-down when you select that option. Or at least, that's what it sounds like.
@@loic_vrbg "DAB on it wagwan"
4:34 is hilarious to me, the “Wot?” is perfect
To be fair, when Jeremy accidentally called and had his trip set up by phone, that would be amazing.
I love the lady who explained Spotify. “So if I said: ‘Roxanne’ it would play Roxanne” “…maybe…”
Growing up is realising that was clearly an ad placement
To be fair that's literally how it works nowadays... sometimes it plays the song and sometimes you click on the song and you wait 5 songs and ads just to play the damn song
@@BlindAndFrenchthey couldn't do ads on the BBC I'm pretty sure
These Hammond may and Clarkson compilations are the best
Agreed
...in the world...
Yesssssssssss......
have to agree with Jermy about cars not being old people friendly. My parents Volvo XC60 was totally ridiculous. They ended up hating what is a fairly good car. I found it a little challenging too, far far too many menus and needlessly over complicated. And I had even owned 3 Volvos myself, so you'd think it would follow similar controls, but no. Sold it after less than a year...
I laughed out loud when Jeremy's glasses slipped off mid task. 😂
What's amazing is that the technology in this video is ALREADY totally outdated.
Jeremy Clarkson "Let's not get bogged down" Compilation Please
ruclips.net/video/vq4Z8TNV734/видео.html
The last clip is real time video of Clarkson uncertain that if he presses the wrong button, he'll either order a pizza or set off the nuclear weapons.
wow the E-car nissan just straight up blasts propaganda at you...
It's not them being bad with technology. It's technology being badly designed.
the lexus system is by far the best
You tricked me into thinking my wifi wasnt working at 5:45
I’m only almost 30 and most of this tech stuff is incomprehensible & over complicated to me as well lol.
Jeremy did say you have to be a fetus to understand it
it's probably not you, and just bad design. up until recently most car manufacturers put extra consumer electronics for added value for the least r&d and resources. i think most of them didn't hire a ui designer for example.
You are correct it is over complicated for what it means to do because everyone spend so much time looking away from the road now just to navigate a giant screen on the dash
I'm 20 and most of it is meaningless jarble.
me neither. Shit, I'm 36, not 86!
James: "So if you're trying to turn tight at low speed which is when your rudders aren't very effective do you use differential throttle or differential pitch?"
Jeremy: "Yes"
"Are there instructions?"
"Yes, they're all in Russian."
That still picture of Clarkson at the end got me
Mad how Spotify has grown so much
I’ve never used it but I assume it’s terrible
Never used it once
@@JBBrickman spotify is great overall, i've used it for years, but we're all waiting on them to release lossless audio quality. and there's always the argument to be made for buying and owning music vs. a subscription model
@@JBBrickman I mean music for free

“I don’t understand it so it must be terrible!”
😊
0:13 “Selecsión tóhn avèc boutòn blèugh… PAGMÈNTO!” 😂😂
Clarkson has an actual boomer moment with the turn table dillema at the radio station lmao
That Lexus for navigation accually calling a human is pretty cool instead of being distracted and even maybe causing an accident you just say where you wanna go and there you go
Just recently got a birthday card from my brother which said "Remember when we were young and the only technical problem you could have with a Zoom was if it melted too quickly?"
Thanks for doing my idea
"Bagamento!?" 😂😭
We need a Jeremy Italian language compilation
Clarkson trying to understand the Zoom buttons reminds me of my dad.
This was probably one of the best ones
The sat-nav telephone download support thing is kind of cool, with one little drawback.
If you arrive at the wrong location because you programmed it wrong. That's your fault.
With that system, it's someone else's fault.
A reasonable person would respond with "oh dear, I'll have to go back", but an American would sue them :P
To be fair, the first minute of this, with the parking and so forth, does seem like a pain. I'm sure it's at least somewhat better in the days of smartphones.
0:18 I love how they said "pagmento" in unison. Pagmento means payment.
5:55 literally my grandpa 😂😅…anyway have a nice day 🙂
That first clip made me laugh so much 😂😂😂
Jeremy, 47: "where's the turntable"
Me, 17: "what's a turntable"
To be fair to them the parking at the start was shocking
The first one always comes to mind 🤣🤣🤣
2:44 as the driver of a Fiesta, I can confirm that this radio is the worst thing I've ever used 😂 to this day, I don't know how I reset the radio stations, I just mashed enough buttons until it did something, and as for the ridiculous amount of buttons, the amount of times I go to make a phone call and not wanting to take my eyes off the road, I press the button I think is phone, and I end up changing the music source. I love my ST, but it could definitely do with a better radio. Oh, and I'm almost 30, so I can't say I'm just out of touch with new technology, not yet anyway.
God will bless u for these compilations
It's kinda sad seeing them getting older and older...
James: “Do you use throttle or pitch?”
Jeremy: “Yuess”
The lady from the call must have put down the phone and said to her coworkers "you know what ? You wouldn't believe who I just had on the phone"
Funilly enough the BMW I Drive Controller is now one of the most simple and predictable system in the industry
"Well, what's the matter with money!?" That's so true!
Jeremy and Anita - a love story for the ages
3:29 staying alive, staying alive 🕺
Manual/semi automatic. Hilarious James May!
Every other company: gibberish
Lexus: would you like a masage ?
i love the volvo clip its so funny
cool picture at the end
clarkson: how long have we been now
May: all my life
me: 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Quite bizzare that new cars have a complete LCD display for hundreds of settings & sub menus to gawp at, but if you have a phone in your hand you can get jailed , hung drawn & quartered.
I LOVE the Hovercraft one
5:13 to be honest I would pay money for that service over an AI
this "whaaat" at 4:34 lol
Has anyone ever figured out what those 6 buttons on the back of the steering wheel are for?
To be fair... The Japanese and Russian parts aren't an issue with "technology", but with the language barrier.
I got to say I’ve never even attempted to set the time on any car I’ve ever been in just too complicated just whatever it says I’ll just ignore it my whole time I have the car I just chec my phone and watch
In what episode was Jeremy talking about the volvo v40?
For anyone wondering "Pagmento!" at the beginning means payment
To be fair, car entertainment systems can be pretty bad sometimes
4:58 as a kind of a introvert I cannot express enough how much I don't want my navigation to do this
It can be used as a therapy for you.
I wonder who was more amazed: Jeremy in Lexus or that nice lady, when she found out she was talking to Clarkson :)
i think its less of them being bad with technology and more of it being technology has become increasingly not user friendly
Why did the System where you just call someone who does it for you never Catch on? Best Infotainment ive ever seen
My city recently turned our parking meters to card only and I hate it
4:53 That Lexus system where they call a support centre and they update your GPS seems ridiculous to me. Why is that easier than just putting a destination in yourself manually? and what happens when Lexus no longer uses those call centres?
I'm guessing that's not really what it's used for mainly, just something they can do, there's likely a way to so it manually by yourself so if they shut down you can still do it. I see your point and I agree but it does seem pretty awesome getting your personal assistant to do something in your car for you
This is where your $400k goes. You pay the salary of a personal navigation assistant
@@iamstd2IDK but for me 400k seems good for a luxury car and a slave.
With a bit of Clarkson's Farm at the end with no audio. Having trouble with tech?
Copyright issues I bet
0:55 was my favorite part
5:05 "Hello, I hear you've had an accident and are entitled to compensation"
"No, I've never had an accident, on foot or in a car, silly scam calls"
"You will shortly, let me show you while I talk to you and distract you while control your car"
I get it with the clip in the GTR, if its in a completely different language, I'd be lost
"It knows where I am on the planet!"
Car companies trying to make things easier to use by making it all interactive and on a screen but ending up making it far too complicated for anyone to use unless they’re 12 or have the full manual on them permanently
To be fair, many of these are due to very bad user interface. If the UI is bad enough, even 12 years old will find it complicated, and/or manual will be useless.
To be fair to Jeremy when he's in the GT-R it's not necessarily him being bad at technology, its him not being able to understand Japanese.
Collision warning
why'd you want to turn that off
😂 It's so true God knows why they put it in the system
I'm almost 30 and I hate technology.
i dont even think a 14 year old could use idrive, i work on cars and am very tech savvy and that shit gives me headaches anytime i have to use it
Do a "phone call" one
4:43 me when my friend's new car that had no cd player
why is the last bit no audio meaning no sound
0:05 "Flag minus plus is"
Clarkson Hammond and May NOT being smug
Voice recognition compilation
Today you just plug your phone into the car, it's paired automatically, and you just use Siri/Google/whatever and tell it to do whatever, and they generally get it right. I imagine Jeremy still struggles.
4:29 😂
If you're 85 these are just blurred heiroglyphics hahahaha
Now most of the tech they were confused with are now old or standard
Top gear has better characters than the Inbetweeners
High tech dashboard:):)
Y'all missed like the second season when they were making fun of the internet lol
"i went on the internet and i found this"
Tbf the second one is arcane af. I'd not bother.
