After one Girl Scout set up a stand a few years ago in front of a marijuana dispensary and had sales go thru the roof, word got out. Now these places are top real estate locations to set up stands. Thin Mints are the best.
If we ever needed another proof that this girl scoup sale thing is a horrible thing... it's just exploiting little girls and whatever they can to make money. Just make money like any other company do. But their face is little girls, so all of a sudden, it's ok.
@@AC-ni4gt Hmm, strawberry is a good idea. I'm usually a chocolate guy, but I've mixed this with vanilla because it basically turns into a better version of mint chocolate chip ice cream.
I was a Girl Scout from second grade (a Brownie Scout) through my senior year in high school. I have 3 daughters who were all Girl Scouts, and a granddaughter who is a Brownie. Yes, we all sold cookies. The G.S. program gets about 10% of the earnings, which the troops can use to help with scout camp fees, badges, uniform costs, etc. My oldest daughter spent 2 weeks in South Dakota on a Girl Scout activity, and i got to go to Europe when i was 16, joining other G.S. from the area. Yes, scout funds paid for the hotels, but we had to earn our own money for everything else. This was because the tour was called European Teen Adventure, and we met other teens in New York. They were not scouts. It was hard to raise my money, but im glad i succeeded. I enjoyed the countries we visited, the sites we saw, the people we met, and, for me, i celebrated my 17th birthday on the French Riviera. I never would have had that special time in my life if it wasnt for the Girl Scouts, and, yes, the cookie sales! My favorites are the Thin Mints, the Adventurfuls, and the Lemonades!
I sold these when I was 7 years old, and make the Samoas at home nowadays. So good! Girl Scouts are grouped together by age range. At 7, I was a Brownie, with a dark brown jumper dress (short dress worn with a shirt underneath), a brown sash with my earned badges, and a little brown cap. So much fun earning those badges! 😊
Keep in mind, selling at venues is not the only way they sell them. The traditional way is pre-ordering. This allows Girl Scouts' parents to bring the form to work. You can order as much as you want and the inventory can be anticipated.
Thin mints are the best! Samoas/caramel delites second, peanut butter patties/tagalongs third, lemon ups/lemonades fouth. In my opinion of course. Some are named different depending on the manufacturer.
I wondered if you'd be able to get them over there Daz. I thought about sending you some so Aiden could try them, but I have to wait for the right time of year. I have a whole box of things I'm already collecting to send to you guys. As for the cookies, my favorites are those Samoas. The mint cookies are good too
Walmart now sells their own brand of some of these. I would say they are just as good. At least when it's out of season. There is definitely a demand for it in off-season. When thinking about how much one girl scout sells. By the time their selling season starts, people start asking around to find kids selling them if they don't know of any. It's not just the girls involved. Both their immediate and extended family get involved. Bringing some to their jobs to sell. Many people buy large amounts and freeze a bunch of them to get through off-season. It's a big family and community event.

Thin Mints and Peanutbutter sandwich cookie ones are my favorite. The peanutbutter fudge ones aren't bad either. I also like Trefoils which is shortbread. It's a bit plain but tastes good at the same time. It comes in a blue box.
Thin mints are great when from the freezer. But my favorites are Tagalongs and had to look up if they had another name lol, guess they were the peanut butter patties.
The actual scouts get around 15% of the sales. 85% goes to manufacturing and administrative costs. It's a scam using free labor and nostalgia to push cookies... but I always get a box of Samoas when I see a table.
my mom's dog once ate a whole sleeve on thin mints. called poison control and they said don't worry about chocolate poisoning, because the chocolate in the thin mints isn't real chocolate anyway LOL.
