Hilarious that Barrie thinks the Big 10 is some sort of juggernaut. It’s been a two team league for decades. Unfortunately, Finebaum was right about Riley.
He’s not calling the Big 10 a juggernaut. It’s just a different type of conference that recruits a different style of player. It’s going to take time for some teams to recruit and build depth for that style of football. Particularly in the trenches. Oregon seems to already be there but the other pac12 teams are not.
The is no beef (both o and d line). The Air Raid offense has never won a championship. While QBs are important SC needs to go back to Tailback U. Those teams dominated Big 10 teams because they had both offense and defenses that could compete with big boys of the Big 10.
No discussion of USCs lack of NIL past two years having an effect. I doubt Finebaum even realizes USC has not been competing for recruits with NIL until recent. This never gets discussed for some reason.
The PAC had home field and home refs for 100 years at the Rose Bowl. It's over Dylan. Time to play Real Football away from mommie. Welcome to the BIG 10 . 😅
Owned every year? The Big Ten won 3 of the last 4 traditional big 10-pac 12 🌹 bowls. Also the pac-12 did have more success in the game but it’s because they had home field advantage. Let’s see pac-12 teams travel to the east coast every bowl season to play the big tens best. Oh wait we just saw USC travel to the east coast and get beat by Maryland. I won’t even bring up that the conference was so feeble it couldn’t even keep its top teams and imploded.
Guys, it’s been told it took Harbaugh to finally win a title in 6 years. So if your coach been coaching longer then Riley and still haven’t won the chip. Take a seat and focus on attacking them before Riley.
Exactly the same thing happened to the Big 8 conference teams when they moved into other conferences in 2011. Missouri was always competitive in the Big 8, but when they moved to the SEC they totally stunk, couldn’t even beat the mediocre teams in the conference. Took many years to be at least compete in the conference.
This is all on the coaching staff and especially Lincoln Riley for being soft and fostering a soft culture. Why are all the pundits trying to spin this like USC can't compete in the Big 10? USC lost to Michigan by 3 points in Michigan with very suspect home cooking calls. USC lost to Minnesota on a last minute 4th and goal stand which USC stopped them and there weren't indisputable video evidence of a TD but the refs gave Minnesota the TD anyway. Later on the Big 10 publicly said they made a mistake on that call but there's no fixing the score at this point. USC lost to the #4 team Penn State at the time by 3 points in OT. USC lost by 1 point to Maryland and still had a chance to win it, but got the field goal blocked. We can sit here and say USC has a record of 3 - 4 but in all honesty, they could have easily been 7 - 0 with the right head coach at the helm. USC was up multiple scores on all the 4 losses but blew it because of poor coaching. So this narrative that's actively being spun by the media that USC can't compete in the Big 10 is nonsense and quite frankly propaganda BS. USC did not get blown out once after 7 games, hence the definition of can't compete is getting blown out. With that said, Lincoln Riley is not a head coach who can build a program from the ground up. He is nothing more than an OC.
I think he could succeed only if he learns to adapt his play calling. Yes, we know about his developing heisman trophy quarterbacks but he doesn’t have one now. So in a more physical conference, what should you do? Build out both lines and change your offensive personnel to more run fits using two tight end personnel and run the ball. And yes, you can pass it from these formations but you have to change your passing game concepts. He has good personnel but not the depth he needs to have. If can’t adapt, then the university needs to look elsewhere. Otherwise, we’re in the same position as with the previous coach at a much higher cost.

USC doesn't have the guys to compete...but was up DOUBLE DIGITS against Penn st #3, lost last play off the game, last play of the game on the road against Michigan, with the best dline in the country. I'm an invested fan of USC. Lincoln Riley has been given the opportunity to show his coaching skills, and he's shown that he can't produce a balanced, winning product. He needs to admit that his lack of college football expertise is not helping USC to be a consistently winning team. He needs to go.
Stop 🛑 with the Big Ten is different USC had all those teams beat. But Riley’s lack of game management cost them all the L’s. The only teams in the BIG that have more talent than SC are Oregon and Ohio ST. I bet you believe Penn ST. is the 3rd best team in the country. Riley gave them that game.
so much easier to sit and talk about the games on Sunday/Monday than to coach them on Saturday! HIlarious how everyone knows exactly what should have been done "during the game" after it is over! LOL
So Cal has some of the best High School talent in the country, and it wasn't long ago when USC owned the Big 10. My proof is their record of 24 and 9 in the Rose Bowl, and finally USC has the most money!!!!
USC isn't getting blown out, but its lack of physicality and ability to tackle is a reflection of a head coach who operates like a coordinator. The QB and WRs might be able to get their work in without hitting and tackling in practices, but it sure hurts the readiness for the rest of the team. This has been an issue with Riley's teams for a while now. An ideological failing hits differently from missing on a few recruits or a bad QB from the transfer portal. I tend to believe that Oklahoma can bring in linemen. They just have a lousy one this year. We've seen Oklahoma bring in linemen before. They have had four drafted in the last two years. It makes sense it can be corrected. It isn't always quick on the OL, but still. FSU doesn't have a QB. They misevaluated DJ, and clearly the FR and RS FR aren't ready (and might not ever be). They'll try again when the portal opens after the season.
Right now FSU, then OU but they fired their OC so maybe they’ll improve. USC needs O line size and depth especially at OT. And needs twice as much talent at D line. USC can score 17-24 pts but give up 21-28 pts so - hard to tell nowadays if NIL $ is also problematic
It doesn't make sense for him to return to OU where hes absolutely hated for a demotion to OC. If he does get fired from USC in the next 1-2 years you'll see him taking a OC job in the NFL.
Riley’s best job will be an Offensive Coordinator in the NFL. No recruiting, no babying players, just drawing up plays and working with the QB. He will make a nice living at $2+ million a year and live well. No shame, he’s a good Offensive mind, just not head coach.
He got his money and he is laughing his way to the bank. That is how many roll. Kingsbury got his money in Arizona and now he is doing an excellent job as an OC with Washington
Lincoln deserves all the criticism he is getting but why are we acting like with just slightly better in game coaching USC wouldn’t be undefeated right now? Last 4 losses have been from a combined 16 points and they have had the lead in the 4th qtr in all 4 losses. They just need a coach who can coach in tight games and clock manage better
So they say the USC program isn't built for the Big 10, then what's up with Oregon? Southern California High School talent is better than the Pacific Northwest, the Mid West and New England area put together.
Seven games into their first B1G season, UCLA and USC are a combined 2-8 in conference play. Minnesota got the LA sweep on back-to-back weekends. Welcome to the big time, boys -- you're not in the PAC 12 any more.
USC has a dominant record over BIG10. BIG10 would have to win 40 straight games to break even with USC lol pipe down bud. This USC ur talking about. We have a Lincoln Riley problem not BIG10 problem
It's really simple. Riley doesn't understand the concept of complimentary football. Riley's ego is the star of the show, and the rest of the team is sacrificed for offensive production. I've been an OC for 12 years. If I called a game like Riley does, I'd expect our DC to punch me in the face immediately following the game. I wouldn't even be mad, I would have earned it 100%. The three primary jobs of an OC is to score more points than the opponent, to control time of possession and to control field position. Riley focuses on one area, and he's not that great at it.
2:07 What? SC plays (routinely beats) the best Big 10 teams in the Rose Bowl. SC has beaten Michigan and Peen State in the dark years AFTER Carroll left.
Playing a team in a bowl is totally different. You have a month of planning , get to rest up etc. Playing physical big ten defenses week after week takes its toll. If Wisconsin didn’t blow it they really should be 2-5.
@@DownstreamV If they want to say "The Big 10 has more quality opponents and you have to play more consistently..." I will leave it alone. But he literally said "SC has never seen those athletes." It's a dumb thing to say. Also there is some nuance here that is being overlooked by pro pundits and YT commenters alike. SC hasn't been outclassed in any game. They keep losing by one score and have the lead late in the game. A loss is a loss but "these boys are too for them" is a dumb thing to say when they play competitive games against all of them. In fact, SC has repeatedly shot themselves in the foot. By definition, these are games they do have the talent and size to win but keep making stupid penalties, turnovers, and poor clock management. Did they lose? Yes. But they are losing in a way that league isn't too for them. Finally, about those bowl games. It's irritating to see the Big10 fans talk about them like they're the SEC. Look at the game SC played against Bama a few years ago. That's what outclassed looks like. The Big10 is famous for having multiple teams ranked highly all year long and then those same teams make it to the Rose Bowl or the BCS Championship or the CFP and in those cases, they're almost ALWAYS an easy win for a team from some other conference. Including the Pac 12.

And, sadly, USC (back to the beginning) doesn't care ... because they arguably haven't had to "pay the price" for breaking up their former conference. They will make more $$$$$$$ by being an embarrassing non-championship member of the BIG-10 than by being a "big dog" of the PAC-12. MONEY is all they really care about -- certainly NOT the student athletes that will have to interrupt their classes and studies to travel coast-to-coast and across multiple time zones far more often ... and most certainly they do NOT care about the fans.
I'm a USC fan and he was right bro about Lincoln Riley is lost in the sauce bro
Karma for being greedy
No discussion of USCs lack of NIL past two years having an effect. I doubt Finebaum even realizes USC has not been competing for recruits with NIL until recent. This never gets discussed for some reason.
The PAC had home field and home refs for 100 years at the Rose Bowl. It's over Dylan.
Time to play Real Football away from mommie. Welcome to the BIG 10 . 😅
Oh come on! If the "Big 10" is so marvy, why did they get owned in the glorious Rose Bowel every year?
Is defenses are always terrible
He also had to cheat
Exactly the same thing happened to the Big 8 conference teams when they moved into other conferences in 2011. Missouri was always competitive in the Big 8, but when they moved to the SEC they totally stunk, couldn’t even beat the mediocre teams in the conference. Took many years to be at least compete in the conference.
Mizzou actually won the SEC East in year 2 and 3 in the league, but not a lot since. They did have a great year last year.
USC has a dominant record over BIG10. This is a Lincoln Riley problem
if usc leaves LR on the tarmac ill be a fan for life
If USC loses to Rutgers, Riley will be gone
He is quite thin-skinned and stubborn, which is a bad combo for someone who needs to evolve to succeed. Dont think he has that in him.
He didn't develop anything....
That’s a bit of a copout. USC can compete in the Big 10. Pete Carroll had those boys running college football at one point
USC record vs Big10 is a dominant one (check the stats). This is a Lincoln Riley Problem not SC problem. USC needs a proper leader
“At one point “ this ain’t 2004 homie
@@younggoose7315 I don’t care what year it is, Homie. If they get the right coach, they can still compete and even win the Big Ten conference. USC is a giant in the sport I’m not even a Trojans fan,
@@Mystery_Man84 they ain’t getting a coach anytime soon playboy USC ain’t paying 75 million to fire a coach, even then who knows if the next coach will be the right coach. Pete Carolls and Savana’s don’t grow on trees. They’ll likely keep missing and maybe in 10 years they’ll be competitive
@@younggoose7315 I’m just saying. They are capable of competing in the big 10. They used to embarrass big ten teams like Ohio State, Penn State & Michigan on the regular
Paul is loving this.
Jay Norvell and Lincoln Riley can switch jobs.
Lincoln Riley is not a program builder, he took over a program that could have won a national championship his first year and regressed every year until he left. Then he took over a team that had some decent talent and he just imploded that program.
ol riley lower the program then dip out.
USC doesn't have the guys to compete...but was up DOUBLE DIGITS against Penn st #3, lost last play off the game, last play of the game on the road against Michigan, with the best dline in the country. Double digit against Maryland, won by double digits against Wisconsin.....SO WHAT USC GAMES ARE YOU GUYS WATCHING to say they can't compete...they should literally be undefeated. They are competing.
This is POOR COACHING....PERIOD. From play calling to game management, to adjustments, it's just all out poor. Now I will say depth is an issue, and all the injuries haven't helped with that.
But our 1s have liked up and gone toe to toe, and been up by double digits against these big 10 teams you are saying they can't compete with....SCRAM!!!!!
I can't stand matt Barrie, he's a quack.
You are wrong. Compete means win games. When the clock read 00.00 who won can be the only measure. Face facts and fire Lincoln Riley.
@@hwillis7570 YOU ARE WRONG!!! That's NOT WHAT THAT MEANS ...You can be competitive and not win. That's why they have phrases like "it was a COMPETITIVE GAME" ALL 4 LOSSES IN FINAL POSSESSION....COME ON NOW
They have been very competitive and better than every team they have lost to in the big 10, including #3 Penn State
This all falls on LINCOLN RILEY AND POOR COACHING
LOL
Lincoln Riley is not a head coach. He is an offensive coordinator.
He's not even that....
So Cal has some of the best High School talent in the country, and it wasn't long ago when USC owned the Big 10. My proof is their record of 24 and 9 in the Rose Bowl, and finally USC has the most money!!!!
A bigger mess right now?..Usc, OU or Florida St?
Very tough question.
They'll try again when the portal opens after the season.
good question
Florida state
Right now FSU, then OU but they fired their OC so maybe they’ll improve. USC needs O line size and depth especially at OT. And needs twice as much talent at D line. USC can score 17-24 pts but give up 21-28 pts so - hard to tell nowadays if NIL $ is also problematic
Maieva should be the starting QB for SC. LR won’t let it happen.
Uncle Paul having a field day 😂😂😂😂😂
SC sucks under Riley period
Barrie bragging about all his golfing buddies that went to USC LOL
I think Riley’s reputation is DONE! Credibility shot!
Send him back to OU as the OC. Venables needs help, or he's gone too.
Pass
He better not take one step into Oklahoma.
It doesn't make sense for him to return to OU where hes absolutely hated for a demotion to OC. If he does get fired from USC in the next 1-2 years you'll see him taking a OC job in the NFL.
nooo
Disney greed destroyed college football!
I've never even thought USC cam lose to Maryland ever! Losing to Maryland is like losing to North Carolina or Kentucky!
TX is experiencing this with their move to the SEC. We drink whole milk in the REAL South.
Get a new line. And we know you prefer soy milk....or is it Bud Light?!
Please
Based on what, 1 game? You forget that TX BEAT UP Bama last year in Tuscaloosa and GA in their last matchup, Fiesta Bowl.
Texas went into Tuscaloosa and punked Saban just last yr. Btw dnt talk to soon they still have a high probability of making the SEC Champ game
@@knothyselfknotruth You're right. I just wanted to brag since nobody picked the Dogs to win the game. LOL
What has this guy ever done? He inherited a very good OU team from Stoops and left before he could wreck it. He has no resume.
4 big 12 championships. 2 playoffs, 2 Heisman trophy winners while at OU. That's a resume. They didn't pay him 110 M for no resume.
USC losing to Maryland is wild.
Paul finebaum speaking facts
USC needs to be very, very careful. We may have yet another tradition-rich school that jumps to the Big Ten, only to become an also-ran.
Riley’s best job will be an Offensive Coordinator in the NFL. No recruiting, no babying players, just drawing up plays and working with the QB. He will make a nice living at $2+ million a year and live well. No shame, he’s a good Offensive mind, just not head coach.
Talking to his agent😅 it's crazy to me LOL
Cut the annoying music after each of your videos please.
I find your show completely discouraging. I don’t think you are a thought leader. You seem to be a thought scavenger.
We will take him. Signed, FSU
Banging the drum for Prime to be at USC
How can they recruit ? Drive by land. I wanna live.
He got his money and he is laughing his way to the bank. That is how many roll. Kingsbury got his money in Arizona and now he is doing an excellent job as an OC with Washington
The new PAC 8 is looking for teams. Maybe SC could compete.
He doesn’t have one at SC
I will wait to see how USC will do with a mobile QB
Imagine being handed OU with the talent it had and then leaving them hanging only to end up like this 😂
i remember people saying they were Big Ten contenders after they beat LSU. 🤣🤣
Wish we could have him back Sooners don't @ me idc we need him back
Nope...just like cheating girlfriends...you fk her you keep her. He's USC's to take care of now...
It’s been 20 years since they dominated anything
Lincoln deserves all the criticism he is getting but why are we acting like with just slightly better in game coaching USC wouldn’t be undefeated right now? Last 4 losses have been from a combined 16 points and they have had the lead in the 4th qtr in all 4 losses. They just need a coach who can coach in tight games and clock manage better
They should give him one more year. It's not like it's people lined up to do that job.😅🎉
Let’s not act like you never dominated the Big 10. USC could own the Big 10 with the right coach. Barrie is an ASU guy and USC isn’t ASU.
It’s not the losses but it’s the way he loses. It’s like watching groundhogs day!
The pac 12 need one more team. UsC can always join!
Lincoln Riley is not the guy. he's been found out
So they say the USC program isn't built for the Big 10, then what's up with Oregon? Southern California High School talent is better than the Pacific Northwest, the Mid West and New England area put together.
How about the undefeated Indiana Hoosiers ?
USC is SO very lucky that they caught LSU when they did...
How green is the grass now, Lincoln? Should have stayed at OU.
Riley focuses on one area, and he's not that great at it.
they would have to buy out a crazy million dollar contract, and they bought him a new house.
Paul Finebaum puts Debbie Downer to shame.
Usc sucks but im ready for paul to pass on.
Oklahoma, is laughing but crying about their woes at the same time.
May come full circle for Lincoln and he ends back at Texas Tech as HC depending on various outcomes.
USC, go get Urban Meyer
USC beat LSU thanks to a couple of miraculous catches.
USC better get some defense, They can score a lot of points.
USC could NOT have just stayed in the Pac12 and gotten THE MONEY... There was NO MONEY in the Pac12.... Don't make spurious comments like that....
Riley is a Traitor and Karma has made its rounds to him…
I wouldn't be shocked if Lincoln Riley gets hired by the Chicago Bears.
*USC doesn't want a Black QB, Rarely has Black Coaches, does not recruit tough inner city Los Angeles athletes. USC is soft on all levels.*
@@RB-fn3lt its the truth
Once Lincoln Riley could not be praised more. Now? Ohhhh, he’s not up to the Big 10 and not even was up to the Big 12 “that is why he went over to the Pack 12.” Hey - guys - FOOTBALL IS FOOTBALL. The team that scores the most points wins however they do it within the rules. I agree with one thing - neither of you have the answer and Lincoln Riley won’t be calling you for the answer.
Lot of overpaid coaches putrid
You don't have a better "expert" than Finebum?? Pathetic.
Paul has nothing good to say about anybody.
Why don't he try coaching.
USC is facing a different athlete? USC is horrible right now and they are just barely and I mean just barely losing to the Big Ten teams so the athletes are so amazing and dramatically different? Why are they just barely meeting the differences coaching. The coach isn’t doing well at USC.
Paul Finebaum never coached a team in his life.
