The parole process involves reviewing one’s crimes before release maybe I’m being overly protective or out of line but I’ve been in the throes of a mental breakdown and it’s not something that is a conscious decision or choice so I sympathies pretty heavily with these poor souls and there’s not an easy answer that people as a whole can or want to accept.. Mental health issues are difficult to deal with. We have 2 sons. They can turn on a dime, but then they can also be very helpful, loving and reasonable when their meds are right. It's a tricky balance. We appreciate when the police and mental health workers need to be called in assist us.

It’s so easy to armchair quarterback, but I would advise you to never apply those skills in real life/death scenarios like this. Believe me, if you have a suspect such as this, you WANT this type of officer to be in the room. He tried to deescalate the situation, he stayed pleasant, calm, and professional, but at the end of the day his job is to make an arrest in this set of circumstances. It was clearly an act of domestic violence and this guy already drew a line in the sand by making it clear he was going to go for that rifle. This officer tried to show him respect and give him time to make the right choice. The day we decide to let the criminals (especially the violent ones) make the decisions to arrest is the day we have just given up on maintaining a just society.

He did not even give the front officer with less lethal a chance to taze. He emptied that gun. Too much for just getting control.

First clip, that COP needs to find a different line of work. He pushed and pushed to get a reason to use force. He wanted that shootout. He did a disgraceful job handling that situation. You can say it was a justified shooting, but everything he did pushed it to that ending, and he should not be working in Law Enforcement anymore.

Guy clearly said not going to jail and threating to use gun either on himself or the cops, so what cops should do just leave and raid house silently tomorrow with swat team?

It’s so easy to armchair quarterback, but I would advise you to never apply those skills in real life/death scenarios like this. Believe me, if you have a suspect such as this, you WANT this type of officer to be in the room. He tried to deescalate the situation, he stayed pleasant, calm, and professional, but at the end of the day his job is to make an arrest in this set of circumstances. It was clearly an act of domestic violence and this guy already drew a line in the sand by making it clear he was going to go for that rifle. This officer tried to show him respect and give him time to make the right choice. The day we decide to let the criminals (especially the violent ones) make the decisions to arrest is the day we have just given up on maintaining a just society.
