For anyone else that chest position would be too low / too much bike, but for the steep stuff you do that was perfect! Had the trail and horizon in frame and the action was central.
Epic ride there Andy. Well ridden. And for those who look down on Ebikes, that ride demonstrates one of the advantages in that climbing is just as much a part of a ride as descending. Camera shots are excellent. Makes one feel part of the ride.. 👏👏
Definitely more cropped in and more stable setting and the chest position gives you a much better sense of what you are riding and your technical skills you are having to use on the trail. Loving the video!!
Stunning photography and a beautiful place. You forgot to mention that the house is owned by your mate Charlie. When he’s at Balmoral (I think August and September) you cant ride/walk in front of it. You are directed around the tree line at the back. Great video.
Your videos are always engaging and do a great job brining the experience through to my phone. I like the chest mount view as I’m one who likes to see the handlebars and front end of the bike working the terrain. I like the stable view but I’d watch either no problem.
Another wonderful video, thx for all the editing, we know it’s a lot of work editing footages from multiple cameras. So jelly of all the stunning locations. Chest mount with standard wide is perfect. Extra wide makes your arms look rubbery and 6 feet long.
Another stunning watch of the landscape I grew up in well pretty close. I remember as a boy about fifty years ago watching two fighter jets skimming up Loch Muick while we were walking round the loch and one of the pilots had a close call with the hillside and pulled a vertical maneuver with the aid of afterburners and blew a patch of snow off the hill. On the way back we rescued a family whose car had broken down on the road in as we were the last car out of the car park and it was long before mobile phones mind you reception is probably not great in that corner of the world. I look forward to recreating childhood memories if I get round to taking my eMTB certainly on sections of your ride.
You can't beat scotish wild riding. Thank you for the amazing footage. Also you probably haven't seen but at 14.59 in your footage a lovely green orb appeared near the bottom of the screen. Have a look at the meaning. 💚
Classic trails and superb skillz !! I did the usual Capel Mounth loop this year and was pleased to see they had resurfaced the double track up past the river slabs you chilled out at. It used to be a hike a bike with all the rocks and slabs. After I went down streak lightening, I shoved my bike upto Dubh Loch. It was worth doing once as nice techy trail to ride back down but a long hike up on normal bike.
Beautiful scenery , great video well put together . Like the chest cam for the descent and like the wide view too . That scenery would have to be the best Ive seen on your channel Andrew
great video Andrew - what a location and perfect weather to be out on the bike all day - nice riding up and down those trails! chest cam on wide looked good to me, drone done well capturing all those hops! cheers
Brilliant, love the x1, just hope they add a bit more distance as an option, your best shots for me are the further ones from behind, if it did more distance in the other settings too that would be great. Keep up the great rides 👏
I preferred the wider camera view personally. Superb video - outstanding scenery on a beautiful day and good to see the trails in that direction (certainly walked up the Pony Hut track plenty of times and thought it'd make a pretty techy downhill). The drone shots when you were going down Streak of Lightning were excellent. Don't think I've seen anyone else give that perspective before and it showed how much you have to work on that trail... and you had a much harder job with the e-bike. Top notch stuff.
Awesome edit brother! I felt completely immersed in that little adventure. Superb! The drone is next level for rider footage. I got the neo recently and I’m really impressed with it but it can’t capture riding footage like that! What a piece of kit!
@ can’t argue with that! It’s great for capturing Ariel scenic shots with the remote though it gets blown around a bit as it’s so small. All in all great value package.
Fantastic footage. Rode the classic loop this May, proper bucket list trail. Sheltered from a thunderstorm in the hut at the top, you had slightly better conditions;-). Alt descent is wicked, you make it look insanely easy! Chest cam is good, you got the angle just right (so easy to get it wrong...)
Scenery stunning as always. I think the audio quality has improved with the mic on the helmet (am i wright?). I do like the chesty because it gives a more horizontal view and i can see better the bike. Of course when you don't ride it shoot up. Fantastic video Man ✌🏻
Was on the list of ideas for the 2025 Scotland trip - just became a must 🤩 (Maybe see you next year) Great filming and good mounting position, shows how steep and technical it is 👍
Next time in Ballater would love to head to Loch Muick trails, amazing views and great trails network. Prefer wide camera angle but up to you. Thanks for sharing Andy - excellent!
I'd say the wider less stable view for ascents and the narrower more stable for descents. The slightly narrower chest perspective gives you the feeling of focus and riding with you. The drone seems to do well when tracking from the rear. On the side view, it could do with being slightly further away, about double the distance, so its got time to react and recover when you are going through sections when the pace changes constantly. Otherwise great footage, keep up the great content.
Looks like a perfect day for it! Great video and great riding, personally I tend to prefer a chest mounted view slightly especially on steeper stuff. 🙌
Cracking video, drone footage epic and scenery unbelievable. I found the angle a little bit low and tight but seem to be in the minority 😅 just rewatched your Golspie night ride video recently before going there, you were flying in the dark!
The filming looked very professional liked how the wider view looked on the climb shows a realise perspective in my eyes on technical climbing What was the location of this ride watching this has gone on my bucket list never gone further north than the borders in Scotland on the bike
Chesty cam is great, maybe just angled up a couple of degrees. Its alwys good to see the bike moving around a bit, much more realistic interpretation of the tech!
Great video - chuckna torch in your pack next time? They don't weigh much, and are basically essential safety equipment in the hills, especially in winter.
Love riding Loch Muick, you should also try the decent all the way from Broad Cairn Down to the Loch if not already done ❤️🏴 as for camera position both looked great IMOH however the drone footage on the decent to the Loch was amazing 😎 but I know hee how about vlogging or camera stuff 😂
@@scotlandmyhome7484 Summit Broad Cairn and pick your way to the track on the other side is something else. Awesome. Not as steep as what you filmed Andrew but a great loop. The narrower view was great on the down wider better on the up. Good choice.
Your chest settings worked well. Terry B (a videographer) - says chest is best for riding alone. Helmet or chin works best for when filming someone else in front.
Oh and... ' the days are only going to get shorter'.... Well, it sneaks up on us every year but remember, the Winter solstice is only a couple of weeks away!
Great video Andrew, i dont know if its been asked in the comments already, but what drone is that you're using as you come down to the lake and you fold the drone , what brand and model ? It seems to be really good at following you and nit crashing or losing you unlike the dji drone i have and therefore never use.
The chest view lends itself to the more scenic rides and whilst the wide view is good, I much prefer having more stabilisation. Those wide shots had a bit too much movement for my liking.
Favourite McTrailer Rider video of the year.
Wow, I’ll take that, thanks😊
For anyone else that chest position would be too low / too much bike, but for the steep stuff you do that was perfect! Had the trail and horizon in frame and the action was central.
Awesome 😊
High stabilisation setting for sure. It feels like your true POV and I can feel trail. 👍
Epic ride there Andy. Well ridden. And for those who look down on Ebikes, that ride demonstrates one of the advantages in that climbing is just as much a part of a ride as descending. Camera shots are excellent. Makes one feel part of the ride.. 👏👏

Did this route when it was abnormally warm in November and it was the best ride in Scotland of the year for me. So epic and the views are to die for
Your videos are always engaging and do a great job brining the experience through to my phone. I like the chest mount view as I’m one who likes to see the handlebars and front end of the bike working the terrain. I like the stable view but I’d watch either no problem.
Just amazing man. Making ridiculous descent look easy as always! Skillz 🙌🙌🙌
Cheers Jamie 😊

Andrew , that was awesome ! The drone shots , and the wider view . AND , the skills dude ! What a place , thank you for that . I am always amazed .
Spectacular riding, scenery, and video!
Holly crap man !!!!! What a place to ride a bike and the drone shots at the end WOW incredible
does any one live in that house

That sounds like quite the day! One that can’t be recreated though, which is a good thing in a way.
You can't beat scotish wild riding. Thank you for the amazing footage. Also you probably haven't seen but at 14.59 in your footage a lovely green orb appeared near the bottom of the screen. Have a look at the meaning. 💚
A wee emerald 😉
LOVING the amount of drone footage - so good 👍
Classic trails and superb skillz !!

Great vid Andrew! Flashbacks of nearly dying last summer pushing the e-bike up that climb to the pony hut 😅
Cracking video man! Superb. Thanks for putting the Strava link to it too - legend :) - I'll need to give it a bash.
Fantastic scenery. I had a good few walks around Lock Muick as a youngster.
Chest mount works fine but I prefer the increased stability.
Best video of the year for me Andrew. Awesome 😮
Beautiful! Thanks for the adventure. Cheers
Great footage chap. That drone is incredible. Loved the chesty too. Very watchable. Thanks for sharing

All those hops!!😂

Haha, could have put my back out on this ride 😬
Awesome edit brother! I felt completely immersed in that little adventure. Superb!
The drone is next level for rider footage. I got the neo recently and I’m really impressed with it but it can’t capture riding footage like that! What a piece of kit!
It’s a lot more money than the Neo though. The Neo seems to be great value.

One again top class bed, great use of the hover pro 👍🏻
I'll always prefer summer, but that was just about as good as you can possibly get for a winter ride 🙂
Scenery stunning as always. I think the audio quality has improved with the mic on the helmet (am i wright?). I do like the chesty because it gives a more horizontal view and i can see better the bike. Of course when you don't ride it shoot up.
Fantastic video Man ✌🏻
Very good indeed. Never thought about doing it any other way than out via Capel Mount. Might try it your way some time.
Was on the list of ideas for the 2025 Scotland trip - just became a must 🤩
(Maybe see you next year)
Great filming and good mounting position, shows how steep and technical it is 👍
I hope you do manage this ride dude 👍
Nice variation of the route!
I think wide angle on the chest mount better - stabilisation not too bad.
Great video as always.
Next time in Ballater would love to head to Loch Muick trails, amazing views and great trails network. Prefer wide camera angle but up to you. Thanks for sharing Andy - excellent!
Cracking ride andrew,id love to go half way round, bivvy up for the night and finish it the next day!
Seriously amazing scenery!
That sounds like a good idea……for next summer though.
I'd say the wider less stable view for ascents and the narrower more stable for descents.

What a beautiful place to be
That looks superb 👌🏻
Stunning 🤩
Amazing trail
Indeed
Watching your videos is relaxing, 👊🏽
I’ll take that 👍
Great Stuff buddy 👍🚴 enjoyed the Video 🚴🤙🤙
stellar content! thanks
Looks like a perfect day for it! Great video and great riding, personally I tend to prefer a chest mounted view slightly especially on steeper stuff. 🙌
Good to know 👍
Cracking run bud! what a view!
Thanks dude
Definitely more stability. Epic views distract from the riding 😮. I think danny mac has some competition andrew 😂
Amazing scenery. Awesome riding. Preferred the sharper cropped in view on the video
Noted!👍
Cracking video, drone footage epic and scenery unbelievable. I found the angle a little bit low and tight but seem to be in the minority 😅 just rewatched your Golspie night ride video recently before going there, you were flying in the dark!
What you can’t see, can’t hurt you?😜
The filming looked very professional liked how the wider view looked on the climb shows a realise perspective in my eyes on technical climbing

Chesty cam is great, maybe just angled up a couple of degrees. Its alwys good to see the bike moving around a bit, much more realistic interpretation of the tech!
Up past the glittering skellies, back down jocks road, back up to the streak of lightening....
Great video - chuckna torch in your pack next time? They don't weigh much, and are basically essential safety equipment in the hills, especially in winter.
I normally do, for the reasons that you mentioned. I’ve got a Garmin style mount fixed on top of my helmet that takes one of my small torches.
I’ve ridden from BroadCairn before, it was good. Very much gets unrideable towards the top.
@@McTrailRideryeh can only ride so far as the bolder fields unridable! But from the base of that all the way down to the Loch is good fun.
@@scotlandmyhome7484 Summit Broad Cairn and pick your way to the track on the other side is something else. Awesome. Not as steep as what you filmed Andrew but a great loop. The narrower view was great on the down wider better on the up. Good choice.
Prefer chesty view esp for scenic rides like that as you get a lot more in!
Quality epic ride as per 👏
Your chest settings worked well. Terry B (a videographer) - says chest is best for riding alone. Helmet or chin works best for when filming someone else in front.
Just got my first ever ebike.......can't believe it took me so long
What model of Rab jacket is that Andrew? Great video as always what a setting that was for a ride
Awesome boss.. I know your on the new drone, but how’s the track me doing? You happy? What about in the trees 😂
It seems to track better and more consistently than anything I’ve used before, but the obstinate annoyance isn’t the best.
Great ride , what bike are are you using
As for the camera angle and wide vs. stable video, I personally prefer stable video because I always watch these videos on a big screen.
Oh and... ' the days are only going to get shorter'.... Well, it sneaks up on us every year but remember, the Winter solstice is only a couple of weeks away!
Chest is good but a few degrees higher would be mint.
Second one best BTW, prefer both to chin cam.
Chesty mount is good, but initially the camera was too low-ish. Super wide angle is annoying to watch in the long run (especially Insta).
More cropped, more stable!
Great video Andrew, i dont know if its been asked in the comments already, but what drone is that you're using as you come down to the lake and you fold the drone , what brand and model ? The chest view lends itself to the more scenic rides and whilst the wide view is good, I much prefer having more stabilisation. Those wide shots had a bit too much movement for my liking.
Which version of the Hover Drone are you using
What casing do you have on the rear Andrew? Do you run inserts too for that rocky stuff?
wow. don't quite know how to put into words what i have just watched. hard to do it justice.
@mctrailrider Andrew some good kit and drone questions here below - you given up answering people now you bailed to Portugal?
Camera angle ok down hill ,maybe a little cropt at the top. Very techy climb 👍
I think I had it a little too low initially.
Still much prefer chin mount point of view with its more natural stabilisation and near eye pov.
What drone were you using on this video?
streak of lightning is so hard to ride!
It’s physical, that’s for sure 💪💪
Prefer the narrower field of view as it doesn't give me motion sickness like the wider one does.
Did the same loop six weeks ago .. then Mastermind and heartbreak ridge after .... I slept that night ..more like passed out . Views for miles
Can safely say I fucking hated every inch of that climb.
If you really want to put hairs on your chest you should come down the Glas-allt-Shiel decent. It’s one to rock off for sure.
your ebike motor is pretty noisy 🤣
Cropped, more stable.
