That was a free swing with what's basically the equivalent of a metal shovel for us. A blade, you could say. Mixmaster was caught off guard right as he was dealing with the frontline enemies, he didn't even have time to react. Scorponok, however, managed to leap straight into Jetfire's torso and severely cripple him, rendering him virtually useless for the rest of the fight. THAT, and Jetfire just one-shot Scorponok with a single punch. Scorps just got a free hit, he ambushed Jetfire just like Jetfire ambushed Mixmaster

Jetfire didn't revive optimus. He gave optimus his parts so that optimus can defeat the fallen. Optimus couldn't be revived with jetfire's parts. He could only be revived by matrix of leadership. The fallen took out the matrix of leadership but some of its essence was still in optimus and optimus was still alive when jetfire sacrificed himself.
In the G1 cartoon, and in many, many toys released after 1987, Long Haul formed Devastator's crotch. THis time, Overload felt how Long Haul used to feel back in 1985. Maybe even worse.

The ones that have names of their own are actual combining Constructicons. So Demolisher and Rampage can combine, despite looking just like recolors of Scavenger (Demolisher is a white Scavenger) and Skipjack (Rampage is a red Skipjack) Meanwhile, the second decepticons you see fighting as foot soldiers CANNOT combine. They're merely clones. So the second Mixmaster (killed by Jetfire), the second Long Haul and the second Scrapper (both killed by the bombing made by the military) are just clones of the originals, which were combined into Devastator up to the moment where they were shot down. Now, it depends on the reason of why they were cloned. Either: A) They were cloned for their potential as foot soldiers AND due to the weaponry that they were not gonna able to use when combined (say Mixmaster's turret mode, Long Haul's missiles(?)) B) They were cloned for their potential as foot soldiers, but upgraded to have more weaponry in order to pay off for the lack of combining abilities.
