I like this improved SCSM route. Will return next year for 10km and 42km again. Trying to improve my attempt with less struggle! Thanks for your SCSM 2022 video!
@@happyfeetdancingfingers This year was my third year climbing the same dreadful Benjamin Sheares Bridge for SCSM race. For 2019, it was a night marathon, so it did not count because there was no scorching sun. This time I brought some coffee powder mixed with sugar contained inside a small bottle. When I reached 38km water point, I poured some water in, shake the bottle to make cold coffee drink and then finished it off at one go. I needed this extra caffeine boost after the climb near 40km mark for sure. Then the rest was history. This was a cheap remedy because I knew I would be soaked in the rain from weather forecast reading earlier that morning before reaching the starting point around 3.40am. I got blisters on both of my feet this time but the last 3.2km well as planned. I also learnt after the race that by applying Vaseline to my toes and sole, I would have avoided this blisters issue easily. Will try it next time. The 10km run on the day before was perfect. Good weather and all went so smoothly, a big contrast to the next day full marathon. I enjoyed the 10km run very much.
Hai uncle...congratulations for finish strong, btw , can I wear another clothes like traditional clothes when I getting the race ? Because I will join for SCM 2023 next week. Thank you
Congrats! Your pace was so consistent, and you looked so relaxed. Do you prefer the evening race in 2019 or the early morning race that they have gone back to?
Ivan Leong Thank you. I prefer the evening race where the transportation is more easy to arrange and temperature not so hot. Luckily this year morning race is not so hot due to early morning thunderstorms and the whole day is cloudy.
@@RunUncleRun Haha, me too. I ran the 2019 half marathon and really love the festive atmosphere in the evening. The hot weather is the reason I am still hesitant to run a full marathon in Singapore. If they go back to evening race, I would love to do it.
I have been waiting for your video for this SCSM 2022. You make completing a full marathon race look like an easy long run without much struggling. In the end of it, just smiling and walked normal like just finish a daily routine workout! Congratulations! May I ask you one question: how to prevent blisters if one has to get wet with their shoes even before the 42km run get started like this SCSM? I got 7 blisters on both feet this time and they slowed me down a lot because of the pains they inflicted. Some burst near the turning point at 26km. Thanks.
Benjamin Ting kah hin This time I just go with slow and easy pace since I still nursing my knee injury, that's why it looks so relax. As for the blisters issue, since I have been training to run in the rain for quite a lot, I think my feet already condition to adapt to run in wet shoes, so no blisters issue for me to run on wet shoes now.
@@RunUncleRun Wish you will recover fully soon. Honestly speaking, your goodself has implemented your running plan so well this time that It doesn't look like you have a recovering knee from the video alone if you never mention it.
Benjamin Ting kah hin Thank you. If you see carefully on the video, actually you can noticed that I am wearing the knee brace on my right leg to protect it from further injury.
@@RunUncleRun 42km is a very long distance to test out a runner's stamina and endurance to withstand fatigue and muscular pains, I observed your footsteps and posture for the whole video, you didn't show either fatigue or pains from your facial expressions or your narrative throughout. I salute you for your ability to run long distance and to complete them successfully. I watched your past videos when you recorded doing easy long run to get yourself ready before attempting any ultra-marathon event. It gives me hope and something to look forward to in running.

Hi RunUncle, I believe I'm ready for a 30k trail race. Do you have any to recommend that is easy for me to get to. Meaning, I can access by local public transport and won't need my own car. Thank you. Priority is in MY, but open to others within SEA also.
Zulkhairee Sulaiman if you talking about trail running events, there are a few trail running events in Malaysia which is quite popular and they also have 25km-30km category, such as CULTRA (at Cameron Highland, Pahang), MMTF (at Taiping, Perak) and BUTM & TMBT (both at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah). You can checkout my RUclips videos on these events to have a feel and looks on the terrain of these trails.
Simon Ixora I do not really have any training plan for marathon. Basically I just run everyday with various variation in distance and pace depend on the feel of the day.
