"12th Fail" movie should be taken as a cautionary tale on the absurdity of millions of young people trying to compete for a handful of IAS/IPS positions. No matter how hard you try, the chance of making it is below 0.01%. Most young people in their right mind should not waste the most precious 4 years of their life on such unlikely goal against such ridiculous odds. If they invest that time and energy on building a business, the chance of success will be far higher. Say 10%. That is much better (thousand times better) odds. Also, even if you don't succeed in the business at first, you can learn so many valuable things, and you can keep learning and keep trying different types of businesses. There is no loss. You will most likely become financially independent, and you may even become quite rich. You will be a highly contributing member of the society. But after four years of unsuccessful attempts, the UPSC aspirants feel like defeated failures with nothing to show for. What a waste of youth.

Being a upsc aspirant from rural area , let me tell ground reality , in western world like America, top quality private jobs are available across nation but in india only in few metro city and only in few sector like IT. So this vacuum is filled by chain of government job which present across India including backward area. At top of this chain is IAS, so those who prepare IAS , follow this chain if fail in upsc then other exam like pcs, banking and teaching, clerical to allied job . So by preparing upsc, people actually enter in to this chain. But government jobs are limited so plight of student is obvious factor… only solution is develop robust private sector across India ..other career like start up is just blind game , no body to train or guide and no clear success path which can win confidence of youth..
