Thank you. Yes, you can wild camp in Ireland. There are exceptions to every rule but like everywhere: be considerate, discreet and leave the place as you find it. Stick with that, and you'll be grand.
Glad you enjoyed. It's a wonderful trip. Much of the joy of going solo is having the freedom to do and go where you like, so while I had a route I didn't stick to it all that much. Stick as much as you can to the beautiful coastline and you'll not go too far wrong.
Hey😊 seems you’ve chosen some lovely quiet roads. Is your trip visible on Komoot? We want to go Bikepacking Ireland in a week and still open for support insider tips😃 Cheers Tom and Stevie on Tour 😊
Hi Stevie, glad you liked it. I had a route uploaded onto my Wahoo but ditched it halfway through the first day. I often change my mind and kinda just blow with the wind. I can tell you that Google Maps never failed to direct me onto the quietest, most remote road available, and I often just used that. Hope you enjoy your trip and stay safe. 👌
Sounds like a top trip, Ryan. Sleeping set up was pretty much what's in the film. Lightweight solo tent, down bag, bivvy and mat. Sleeping bag and mat go in the bivvy bag.
Well, I’d be no wiser about your trip….except that I know that coast …..all the beautiful places you just zipped through…you might as well just be cycling around a supermarket car park…..no taking a break and smelling the roses, so to speak….🤩
Hi Josephine, I make my films both as a memento and as a creative outlet. I make films for me, not an audience, you understand. I don't ask for likes or subs and don't feel I have to create for an audience or followers. Cycling is, by it's nature, zipping through somewhere, if it isn't, it's probably hiking. I have footage of the alpine flowers that I saw in the Burren limestone, I stopped and recorded in a lane in Donegal that was redolent with the antiseptic smell of meadowsweet. I washed my wands with the flowers of soapwort in Mayo. All of which you're unlikely to find in a supermarket car park - Marks and Spencer's notwithstanding. I can still smell the overpriced coffee I bought in Castlebar, the blackberries I picked to stave off pangs of hunger and the mouthwatering pizza I virtually inhaled in Buncrana. Your comment has given me the opportunity to relive my trip while having my morning coffee. For that, can I sincerely thank you. Have a wonderful day, and remember get off RUclips and get out there and smell the roses.
Great video, thanks! Was there any particular reason why you departed from the coastline section of the WAW and went cross-country from Westport - Sligo?
Glad you liked it, Caroline. Time was the only real factor. I needed to get it done in 7 days and did it in five, but I had to spend a day and a half getting to Mizen and another half day cycling from Malin Head to Derry before getting the bus home. Another factor is actually the time spent filming. Making films not only takes time but it disrupts your rhythm on the bike. But I like making films, so for me it's worth the hassle and added time.
Great video, I really enjoyed watching it! 👍🏻
Ireland has some fantastic scenery and the best way to see it is by bicycle🚴♂️.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it.
Great, excellent video👍👌👏
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. 👌
This looks very inspiring! Great to get a glimpse into the adventure, almost as though I were there
That's very kind of you to say that. Thanks.
Some great shots and very evocative drone shots - currently planning my ( slightly slower) Mizmal so great to get a feel for the roads
Thanks. Slower is better. I would like to have spent more time in Killarney, the Burren and Galway. Safe journey, you'll have a ball.
Thought I recognized the face! 😂 Awesome Ciaran 👌Would love to do this someday. Keep it up and looking forward to seeing more.
Haha Mark! Great to hear from you. Bizarrely, I was thinking about you the other day. Hope you're doing well.
@@thereluctantfanatic All good man!. I do a bit of cycling myself. So if you're up for a wee spin sometime, give me a shout. Be good to catch up 👍
Good Man!
Very cool
Ah, thank you very much.
Can you do wild camping in Ireland? Nice trip and well filmed

This was brilliant! Do you have the route to share at all? I'd love to use it as inspiration

Great trip!!! lovely motivation to move my ass from the sofa😅
Great video, did Dublin to Galway as a student along the coast in 2010. With paniers. What was ur sleep system with the bike packing set up?
Sounds like a top trip, Ryan. Sleeping set up was pretty much what's in the film. Lightweight solo tent, down bag, bivvy and mat. Sleeping bag and mat go in the bivvy bag.
Model of the bike you used? Do you recommend mtb or hybrid?
Road bike, hybrid/gravel bike would be fine.
