I've listened to this song since I was a child, and I'm still amazed how 18 minutes pass so quick. Maybe because it takes me to a place where there's no worries and time doesn't exist, it's just me with myself
In 1991 my brother went through a tough divorce. When he visited us in New York, I had a cassette with Wim Merten's song 'Lir' on it, I think it was recorded from the National Public Radio show, 'Hearts of Space', although we didn't actually know the title/name of the song: we were on a beach in Long Island and he kept replaying the song again and again, he said it helped him get through that difficult time. I think I made a copy of the cassette and twe knew it was Wim Mertens, we didn't know the song title. Over the years the cassette disappeared though the lingering memory of that song remained in our consciousnesses: I went on I-tunes today and although Wim Mertens has a lot of albums, I went through them one by one, looking for that song. Today I found it! It took almost 30 years to find it, though I am glad it came back to me. Today I bought the album 'Maximizing The Audience' by Wim Mertens and I can again, after so much time, enjoy this amazing, soothing song and the album it came from. I just sent a link to this You Tube link of the track "Lir" to my brother overseas to see if he can remember how it helped him get through a difficult time (I am sure he will!). He is remarried and doing well.......Thank you Wim Mertens!
