Sad to say this is only the feels train departing and oh boy does it speed up, derail and crash and burn all over your heart. Basically this story isn't a happy one, but god damn it's a great one.
God please someone tell them that the drugs don't turn people into demons. It just the fact that it's a hedonistic action, the drugs themself don't matter.
They are over thinking things
well tbf they never truly clearly explain the rule of demon possessing in the anime, cant blame them for thinking the drug had something to do. In the adaptation it just seems to happen lol
I think they are both named Miki but all the people at school call her Miko to distinguish her from prime Miki and she hates it because prime Miki is better then her and she wants it the other way around
I'd say you're right about the first part but she isn't resentful because prime Miki is better, she's resentful because they changed her name and just wants to be called Miki too. The only way she sees for that to happen is to be better than Miki prime, but she's doing it out of dignity more than ambition. She doesn't want to be better for the sake of being better, she wants to be better so people acknowledge her as her own person instead of "that girl that has the same name as Miki".
Imagine having a friend with the same Name & Ambition as you but Out classing you & being more popular to the point that you're not recognised or just viewed as "the other one".
Think that sums up her. Or at least how I got it

Akira is an empath, he feels everyone's pain and can understand them. That scene with the cat where Akira is telling Ryo "you're crying too" is basically him telling him that even though he's not physically showing his emotions, he does have them. Ryo is "crying" on the inside, he just doesn't know it yet. Akira is probably the only one that has seen the best side of Ryo and knows that he has the potential to be a good person. That's part of where his attachment comes from. A lot of people in real life are in codependent relationships/friendships like this. An outsider looking in can see that it's unhealthy, meanwhile the couple/friends are in the "it doesn't have to make sense to anyone but us" mentality.
I find it interesting that It seemed like Ryo Saved up Akira's family pictures from a broken phone. Akira's mom phone I'm guessing
It only just now struck me how ironic it is these episodes come every Sunday.

And then we get the entirety of Akira's relations to his parents in a single episode lol.
They're having a weirdly hard time trying to understand both Miki and Miko are actually named Miki, and calling her Miko is just a nickname to differentiate. I wonder if the bro's never dealt with two people having the same name before? Usually using nicknames for one or both is the first thing everyone does. It's either that or jumping to last names.

Not too tough to do with this series (it's short and pretty not subtle about things; plus also they watched Berserk lol), but they're also really good at predicting things. It sometimes leads to them overthinking things though, but it never ends up being a big deal.

I was waiting for that rap section, at the time I watched this the first time, I guess it resonated with me too. Teared up a bit like Miki. =']

If you came to Devilman expecting no feels, you came to the wrong series my friends.
Oh I definitely care a lot about the parents, not everything has to be built from episodes prior, this show actually speaks volume even with so little that I got from the parents - in that moment, those people inside the demon spoke for what they desired for/what they've been wanting to say out loud, and that's a lot more tragic what the bros think about because of how abrupt people's lives are taken before they can say or do what they want

So in the original the whole deal with Jinmen (the demon) was done wayyy differently. First he was a simple demon his parents were not involved, in fact I dont think we ever see his parents in the manga.
Instead it was a little girl he was friend with that was killed and then used as bait by the demon to make Akira come to him. He also had more human faces so he was a bit more creepy.
Really reading the devilman manga is quite interesting, also Ryou doesnt seem like a psychopath from the get go so that's a thing too. I really recommend you read afterward to see it for yourselves.
I like what the adaptation does in that it's almost a different story with a lot of original characters (and he kinda has to considering he's only got 10 episodes). The director of Crybaby def acknowledges that he's not doing things 1:1 with a nod to that as the og Devilman actually exists within the universe as a show.
@@leinad0504 yeah it's kinda like an AU of Devilman set in modern time. I also realized after reading some of the other Devilman mangas that they used some events in those others works to make this adaptation.
Like when Akira is fighting Xenon and the Mt Fuji erupts that wasnt in the og devilman (actually he never fought Xenon at all lol) but in Devilman Lady when he is flying off he causes natural disaster one of them being the eruption of Mt.Fuji.
Also Miko is an actually relevant character in this adaptation :p. I really liked what they have done with the adaptation it's following the general story with its own twist
@@Gensolink Well, considering that there have been multiple reset of the timeline, I think what they set is that this is just another universe reconstructed.

After watching Devilman, the next is Netflix's original Ultraman!

All people have some darkness even if minor, so I'm not sure that Akira's dad has done anything particularly bad.

I'm watching this show for the first time along with the reactions and I'm kind of surprised they hadn't brought up the possibility of Ryo being an angel, or angels and their judgment being a factor, before now. I mean in the imagery in the opening, I'm pretty sure there's a full-on Seraphim in it.

I didnt watched any other episode until now, so if my guess is right, dont confirmed it, but i get the feeling, that Ryu is some kind of "fallen Angel". I some other series/movies/etc Angels dont have feelings. Angels are some kind of "too pure to have emotions" because emotions are some kind of sin. So my guess is, that Ryu is on Earth to fight these Demons or has some bigger plan? dont know. This would also Fit his whole "White" stuff
