      And a class A prototypical Narcissist. I wish he had gotten help because it took so much from his ability to love . Narcissism is not recognized as a mental illness per say but therapy could’ve helped him to recognize it but then again a hallmark symptom of narcissism is inability to recognize it in themselves . Even when he said “ I’ve had to say I’m sorry a lot, he’s talking about himself and not how bad he feels for hurting his loved ones. He doesn’t because he doesn’t consider his effect on his loved ones. He couldn’t see things from the others perspective. Every sentence if you notice starts out with I……..!

      @@BackUpKarito There’s nothing hateful in this comment. There’s no name calling or put downs. It’s an explanation of the disorder narcissism. I have it in my family as well and it’s extremely destructive to the people around it. Life long trauma is the result. I don’t know enough about Ryan O’Neal to say if he had the disorder but I have watched his daughter (Tatum) talk about their lives-the kids-growing up with O’Neal and the pain the kids experienced into adulthood. Ryan O’Neal most likely had his own difficult childhood. We need to be able to talk about these disorders so we can understand their effects on people and society. A lot of people don’t recognize narcissism until they’ve been hurt by it. Ryan O’Neal was an amazing actor, he clearly loved Farrah Fawcett, and he most likely also was a narcissist. People are complicated and multi-dimensional.

      I love Stanley Kubrick and I love Ryan, never saw Barry Lyndon. His son Griffin who certainly isn’t shedding any tears today, said the first time his Dad gave him “Coc___” was before the Barry Lyndon premiere. No this is Griffin side of the story. There are two sides to every story but Griffin said that his dad said to him “now we’re going to see this movie and it’s very long so snort some of this it’ll help you stay awake during the Premier.” 🤷🏼‍♀️ the one. Ryan punched Griffin (then 16 yrs old) in the face, knocking out his front teeth. Ryan was an amateur boxer before he became an actor so don't underestimate the punches he could throw.
      Ryan was also once arrested for shooting a gun at Griffin.
      So you can see there's a documented history of physical violence on women and his children.

      @@Juju-l3o Ryan claimed that the gun accidentally went off when he pointed it in Griffin's direction, or something like that. The police had been called and they questioned him. Obviously he didn't want to be charged with a rather serious offence. It's no joke, shooting a gun with real bullets at a person. Ryan could have been charged and faced a court hearing. Fortunately Griffin wasn't hit but maybe id he had been and Ryan had been charged, it might have forced Ryan to control his violent ways. It wouldn't have fixed his emotionally abusive behavior though.

      @@tiffanycurtis4794 Love of his life??? O'Neal cheated on Farrah Fawcett and when she caught him in bed with a young actress Leslie Stefanson (who later got married to James Spader, after meeting the then-still-married actor on a film set) she was so mad at him that she wanted to split up. For a while I think they did. Forgot to add that she found them together in their home! He could have at least used a hotel!
      That was not tje only time that O'Neal cheated on her. But it was I think, the only time that Farrah caught him in their home with another woman.
      Rest in peace together? They fought a lot and O'Neal had affairs even bringing the women into Farrah's and Ryan's home.
      Also O'Neal allegedly was a factor in Farrah's alcohol and drug addictions. O'Neal was an addict and caused his children to become addicts too.

I enclosed a self addressed return envelope with postage …a few weeks later I received the envelope with the picture signed by him, and he even added postage and an additional envelope to protect it. He thanked me for my comments on his performance in the film.
    “Dear Tom, thanks for your kind words much love, Ryan“
    it says. I received it about a week before Christmas so this time of year it always comes to mind.

    One of O'Neal's best roles is forgotten. He played Rodney to Mia Farrow's Alison MacKenzie role in the 1960's soap opera Peyton Place and during that same decade, he married Joanna Moore from the Andy Griffith Show (who was the mother of Tatum O'Neal).

    It's so sad. I enjoyed his movies. I just rewatched "What's Up, Doc" last week. And O'Neal was quite a looker. Sad fact is good looks for certain types of men in Hollywood is also a double-edged sword.

    • @ValleyoftheRogue
      @ValleyoftheRogue 8 месяцев назад

      It wasn't his looks. It was about his sociopathy. It is evident he had some untreated personality disorder and destroyed everybody who was close to him. Except, of course, son Patrick, who was raised mainly by his second wife, Leigh Taylor-Young.

      @@ginabrown3901 Yeah, but O'Neal was a special case. Giving your son (Griffin) cocaine when he was 11 years old? Shooting at Griffin (admittedly no saint)? Coming on to your own daughter (Tatum) at Farrah Fawcett's wake? That's a lot to overlook.
