Thumbnail really had me thinking this was a Dak-TLaw trade 😭
Edit: I've been watching for over two years now and this is the first time a thumbnail has initially confused me 🤣
That would be horrible
Me too then I thought about them already doing a contract
Ong dude that’s what I thot
That’s how he gets ya. Lol
Me 2
owners need to get together and break this trend of paying huge money to QBs who dont deserve it. Its bad for the league, and especially bad for players who are undervalued/underpaid
The pay by position thing is dumb, they should pay by the value a player brings to the team. Now bad qb's make more than and take money from better players who have as much or more of a positive impact.
Exactly no QB should be making 200+ mill unless its mahomes who actually got his team to win the SB 3 times out of
QB & WR salaries got crazy fast. Whoever is the best free agent gets more money each offseason. They might not even be the best overall just the best available, but these guys are getting overpaid just based on being the best available that free agency period. So you have to overpay for that. Take Calvin Ridley for example. He got overpaid.
Owners in the MLB did that in the 80's and it backfired big-time!
Im so tired of it. Its BS and your 100% correct.
These contracts prove that winning does not matter to these franchises and it’s a shame that they are throwing money away for no reason
No, it proves no matter what you have to pay the quarterback
Tax write off
@@u-law8149QBs are overpaid. They all benefit from the performance of few.
I agree bro. You need to prove yourself to get the payday. Literally they just paid Trevor Lawrence the same contract as Joey b when Trevor Lawrence has won one playoff game and his stats aren’t even top 5
@@garrettmesser4951 Just wait until you see what Daks over hyped ass is gonna get paid 😂😂 gonna be getting like 60 Mil a year. And you can forget about them keeping CeeDee at this point
All I picture is the joker lighting the cash on 🔥.
QBs should be paid what they have earned & stop this next in line crap, which keeps rising every year. Lawrence is an average QB with a 20 -30 record & set a record where he leads all QBs with the most turnovers in his first 3 seasons, which proves he should not be the 2nd highest paid player in the league
100% agreed because Lawrence is not worth being the number one paid QB in the NFL, dude is mid at best
The way I see it, if the Jaguars didn't feel as tho he was worth it, they wouldn't have offered him the contract. Players are rich, & owners are wealthy, so they have the money and then some so I have no problem with it. The position of NFL Quarterback is the most difficult position to play in all of sports so they should be paid accordingly. 🤷🏾♂️
Lawrence had one bad season which wasn’t his fault.Last season he and the jags were top of the AFC before he was hurt. The only real season we have seen of him with out injuries he was very good.
You’re missing a problem here though, there’s a salary cap in the NFL. Paying mid QBs is gonna make keeping other talent extremely difficult
@@silentstorm5439 my argument is that he is a top ten quarterback when healthy.
Since the NFL has a salary cap the owners pay the same whether they give 5% or 95% of that to one player. The *REAL* clowns are the rest of the players on the team who celebrate when their QBs get paid! They don't have ANYONE around them to inform that that every dollar the QB gets is another dollar not available to THEM????
Imagine being a running back and celebrating your QB getting one of these contracts. There isn't a SINGLE RB in the league that understands second grade math????
That's reason player like Patrick Mahomes get so much loyalty from his teammates. Because they know for a fact that he could get a whole hell of a lot more money than he actually does. But he looked at what Tom Brady did, and he decided to up his game and do it even better
You don’t need to say “per year annually“… Annually literally means per year.
At least he didn’t say “horrific”
I spoke too soon. He slipped in a “horrific” within the last 30 seconds.
Thank you. This is an ice pick in my ear.
Dak should get that in the open market. He ain't won nothing here in Dallas. Danny White never won a Super Bowl, yet has more playoff wins over Romo and Dak combined.
Wow it’s almost like 😮 it’s an organizational problem and not a quarterback problem.
Dak is 2-7 in the playoffs. That is a *iss poor record for anyone who plays for a top tier organization. Say what you will about Jerrah, the Cowboys spend money.
@@encinobalboa the cowboys are 2-7 not just Dak. And it is pretty well known that the cowboys front office is dumb as rocks and never makes any moves in the off season. Had safeties playing linebacker last year.
In my opinion this is actually a great move because they paid Trevor before Dak and after seeing what Goff got paid this actually makes sense .
paying a bad qb that much money is never a great move
@@GreasyWop he’s not even bad he’s just mid for now I hope
@@GreasyWopif the browns would have done this with Baker in 2020. Would the Browns have been better or worse? Obviously better and you can make an argument that they have a very similar skill set and same floor with Trevor possibly having a higher Ceiling.
@@GreasyWopbad qbs get paid everyday. Kirk has legit cleared how much for being avg 😂 this deal wasn’t stupid. Tuas about to get something similar and daks about to get 60+
Goff wins playoff games. He has been to the SB. Not saying he is the GOAT but he is better than Dak or Trevor.
Those are going to be some expensive hair flips.
The way this whole pay scale thing is going between wide receivers and quarterbacks blows my mind. Like we haven't learned from this in the past with how we used to pay first rounders. In 3 to 4 years maybe five QB and WR are going to account for 1/3 or even half of the CAP
I'm a jags fan and when I first seen this I didn't know how I felt but knowing it's a deal that doesn't kick in for 2 years is great. It means they can still build the team for him
Based on the jags track record what makes you think they will be able to do that? You should be more worried that they just severely overpaid for a #1 overall pick who hasn’t done anything close to deserving that price tag. Jags potentially just set their franchise back for the next 5-7 years. Yikes.
Welcome to your new tax bracket, Trevor. 🤑
Except Trevor only has to worry about federal taxes not state taxes unless he is traded or let go.
@michaelbelshaysr4525 don't they get taxed at each state they play in ? So of course home games he doesn't get state/ local taxes but he goes to play in Pittsburgh, etc then state and local does come out.
@gabrielvidaurre3018 only the state your company you work for is located. Rhe Jaguars are in Florida so those are the taxes you would pay. I think Texas is the same.
@gabrielvidaurre3018 the actual rule if you live in a slayer that taxes and work in another state that taxes you pay a non resident taxes in the state you work in and resident taxes in the stayed you live in. So if you live in one state and work in another you get triple taxed. Federal state and state. Unless one or both states don't have taxes.
I wonder how much Tua is going to make per year, annually, every 1% of a century, every 10% of a decade, every twelve months, per annum. Guess we will have to wait and see.
More money for the QB, the less money for talent to surround that QB with talent.
IMO, there should be a set scale for ALL positions. Guaranteed increases per year with bonuses and incentives for any number of accomplishments. That way, the market is stable and the best get paid the most.
"In very tiny font btw"😂😂😂 good one, Mike.
I can't help but see that as a Kyler slight😂😂
I don't care what you say. Burrow is a Superbowl caliber QB certified and verified proven. This is an overpay
Bengals defense carried Burrow in that playoff run ✌🏽
@@22savagetvBurrow had over 1000 yards that postseason?💀
@@22savagetv And the bengals defense were never good enough to carry so I know you don’t watch football😂
Honestly is a DieHard Chiefs fan, you're absolutely right Joe burrow is a Super Bowl caliber quarterback. The problem is, he has some injury concerns. The other problem is he's in Cincinnati which I don't care how great he is he can't do everything. Now if he goes to another team then I will be truly terrified of playing him
@@XxVexon3fpsxX …you talking abt stats. I watched the games. Defense won them the AFC championship against Tennessee ✌🏽
Remember when Ridley was supposed to complete the team? Then they proceeded to suck lol
Lawrence overthrew him
@@AlexRoth-vd1js troll right
As a bolts fan, I also mention QJ with the same enthusiasm. Hopefully this new coaching staff can turn things around
Titan up
Yes sir
lol
Love your video Mike and keep up the great work you are awesome
NFL needs to do something about salary parity. The difference in amount of money these QBs are making compared to skill players or the guys one the line is crazy!! I mean rbs/wr/cbs/lbs all put their bodies on the line more than any qb.
Yeah I get the QBs are the leaders of the team but it’s not like they’re the brains of the project. OCs assistants and coaches have drawn up these plays. As a qb you just go out and get the ball into the hands of every other position… idk
40 seconds is insane
I mean we know how this works by now, in a couple months him and burrow will probably be 3rd on this money list. Next year they’ll probably be a fringe 5
Stop paying these damn QB’s insane amounts of money when they have yet to prove anything, stop it.
I think the jags should give t law one more year to prove himself he did not have good year last year
I like the fact they gave themselves the 2 year cushion, so long as they use those two years to draft talent to allow him to prove himself. Early in his career Mahomes had Cheetah and Kelce to help build his confidence, Lawrence just needs at least one person of that caliber, and this will look like a great contract.
“He had no receivers”. J love tossing dimes to everyone and anyone
Honestly it has to be certain benchmarks a QB, or any other skill position, needs to meet or exceed in order to even have negotiations with this amount per year. This is getting embarrassing
I'm feeling good as a jags fan, like said it does not kick in for another 2 years. we also did well in the draft with Brian Thomas JR, a big threat for Trevor to use.
don't forget the amount we did to our defence also taking pressure of Trevor as sometimes last year our defence let us down putting the offence particularly Trevor under pressure to perform and keep us in the game.
Tlaw is ass no way they did this 😂
😂
One question how many years you think until the QB market crashes out , like when people realize they lose out on a bunch of odds to win it all if they pay the qb like that . Just curious your thoughts …?
I followed you on both
Lawrence is the definition of a mid quarter back 🫤
Life lesson 101: when you don't have greed in your heart it most often times leads to success 💯
Just FYI, that comparison with Gardner and Trevor is incorrect. Those are Gardner’s complete stats. Gardner only threw 41 tds in his first 3 years to Trevor’s 58
Mike forgot to mention Cooper Kupp... even HE could help T-Law elevate his passing game. Good luck getting him from the Rams, though. 😂
I’m hype from this off season and hyped for the season to come Trevor and the jags are going to pop off this year we are the dark horse
Duuuuuuuuuvaaaaaaaalllll!!! Baby
DUUUUVALLLL
DUUUUUVVVAAAALLLL!!!!
Deshaun making more than Patrick is just the biggest farce ever.
Mahomes is using the “Brady Method” and his legacy is all but secured.
Trent Baalke did something right? We are truly living in the upside down world.
Brilliant idea, you say????????????????? The Broncos used the SAME strategy with RUSS THE BUST!!!!!!!!!!!!
This just shows how toxic the Jaguars are. Front office wise.
Jags are trying to be proactive and extend Trevor Lawrence before the quarterback market goes even crazier. What puzzled me about the contract is the QB the Jags traded a 6th round pick for has similar stats to Lawrence in the same three seasons.
Brilliant idea.
Regardless, chasing the bag means you're not chasing a ring.
Prince Lawrence I think is a pretty solid qb compared to some who are demoted after 1 or 2 seasons. If you watch enough games or highlights of players you get a feel for that I think. Mike also said this and I feel the same that Trever may have a break out season this year and a early extension is proof others feel the same and they get to save money at the same time. win win for the Jags. I am not an analyst so don't quote me on that lol.
Well I know what position I want son to play...😂🤣😂😂😂😂😂
Kinda wild
What the Ravens did was 100% right. Mike is forgetting that Lamar WANTED 55/Year but they were able to get it down to 52 bc of what they did. Jags need to trade for Aiyuk asap!
Trevor got his WR1 in the draft this year. Brian Thomas Jr of LSU is that guy. No more excuses now Trevor. People just fall all over themselves to make excuses for Josh Allen Trevor and even Herbert. All those teams have 7 picks in the draft just like everyone else. Choose wisely. The Jags got a winner this year in Thomas.
Realy happy with this deal. Over the last 6 months, the jaguars have kept high tier players. This has not been true over the last 10 years with very few quality players staying with us.
One way a front office can get ahead of another franchise is to sign key postions to high gross contracts, then again timing is everything bc just a few years difference can make such a move irrelevant
These prices are never going to stop. You're basically going to have 50% of the cap eventually tied up in three players. I thought it was like a 60-man roster so you have at least 25% of your cap tied up in a QB. Is he going to block? Is he going to throw the pass and catch it too? I mean he's an unproven quarterback. He hasn't really won anything. I don't know why they're handing out these deals like he hasn't proven anything. I would have put him on the trade block and see what other teams would have been willing to pay him before you tie up your franchise for several losing seasons to come take the draft picks if someone wants to pay him more. No sense in tying your team up for several years of mediocracy
As much as I don't think T-Law deserves the money given his play, the likelihood of the Jags being bad enough to replace him isn't very high. So it was either pay T-Law or suck for X amount of years until you get your next potential QB. With how the roster is constructed, I can understand why they paid him. Just maybe they should've given him less money lol
i think that’s a good move
by the time his contract is up the market will be even higher and t law is a diamond in the rough
“Mind games” -HOODRICH YOUNGIN. OUT EVERYWHERE
You also said it was genius for the Giants to give Daniel Jones an extension.
And also the salary cap goes up every single year. In 2 years these contracts will look like a bargain. The cap went up to 252 mil this past year. Next year in 2025 it’s supposed to reach 280-285 and in 2026 it will be 300 million. If it wasn’t for that then there is no way in hell could you give such big contracts. Like if the salary cap stayed at 225 none of these contracts would have been written.
Do you repeat words and phrases bc it helps later when you clip them up? Or maybe for some sort of seo keyword reason? I really like the vids. It's legit an honest question. (Like we know it's the *NFL* draft, NFL playoffs, NFL this, NFL that. Or that it'd be the same Lamar in the sentence after you just said "Lamar Jackson" -- why say his full name twice within a few words of each other?)
Td phins talk said the same thing about his contract
Mac Jones is not competing for a starting role! Did you watch last season he is competing for a backup qb role and in my opinion I'd rather have Mac Jones the BEAThard 😂
So what happens if they find out that he is not the QB of the future before the extension kicks in? Are they still on the hook for all that guaranteed money and eat a lot of dead money or is it like a small dead money hit and they can move on?
No link at the end
good move
W vid
I mean, looking at the numbers and contracts, Patrick is the highest paid qb in the nfl, right? He’ll be making that 503m while all the others are under 300m. It’s just yearly mahomes is paid not the most, which is why his contract is genius. A lot of these contracts for any positions need a reset, and not the set the bar higher reset but lower. It’s just getting to insanity now
It's amazing how certain qb contract are broken down as a genius move and others not so much
Trevor's best hope would be going to another team.
So based on the "we need to pay him NOW or it will cost more LATER" crowd..we should all be applauding Deshaun Watson's contract? they NEVER talk about possibility that you pay the guy a TON and then they STINK UP THE JOINT
If Trevor is as great as everyone was saying he didn’t need the “superstar wr.” Lamar has never had the superstar wr. Andrews has been the best thing he’s had until Zay and he’s still had a better career
The NFL had a chance to stop the QB-inflation this offseason due to the amount of quarterbacks that were gonna get new contracts &they blew it. The only saving grace might be that almost all the young QB's are locked up now. Cuz if Tua gets hurt this season &Jordan Love isn't very good no one will talking about giving either a big-payday. It's just Stafford, whom due to his age will only get a 3yr-deal &then Dak &who knows w/ him. So virtually every proven QB will under contract which could be fun but a lot of organizations overpaid for their quarterback
Good move
how can you play 49 games in 2 seasons..? that graphic was hilarious
What in the world are the Cowboys waiting for? You got Dak and Lamb to take care of.
Agreed with most of the video (im a jags fan) until the Mac Jones bit. He was brought in to improve the back up qb role, the whole reason Trevor had a bad second half of the season is because the Jags were 8-3 and fighting for a playoff spot but Trevor was hurt so they were forced to start him instead of rest him because CJ Beathard isnt a competant back up qb. There was never a qb competition. If the Jags had a semi decent back up qb to start 2 or 3 games, Trevor wouldve been in the playoffs and the contract wouldnt be questioned at all
You either gotta pay him or plan on losing him once he gets playing to his potential on the regular he will cost way more or want out for a better sit and on the other hand if he craps out you don't want to be stuck in a huge contract its always a gamble but considering what he is capable of I would risk it that is if I was Jax
Did you say Brock Purdy should be the highest paid...your nuts mike
It’s crazy to me that any qb in the nfl makes more than mahomes . All you have to do in negotiations is ask them if they think they’re worth more than mahomes and if they say yes then send them packing .
Bro being a jaguars fan so tough. They now have the two most overpaid players in the league. Christian kirk and trevor lawrence. I believe Josh allen is elite and can become the best DE in the league.
Ain’t no was Jaguars gave him that huge ahh contract 😂😂
I would say Ridley is an elite elite WR I personally wouldn't pay this. When he actually does well pay him if not just draft a new guy and move on
Trevor deserves every penny he sighed for always a big cheerleader 📣 hope he produce and injury free next season surround him with good pieces and then see if he will live up to my expectation
Trevor deserves every penny he sighed for always a big cheerleader 📣 hope he produce and injury free next season
Yeah, Mahomes will force KC to renegotiate by the end of next year when he’s clearly still the best QB and the middle of the pack in salary. Contract guaranteed money is the only thing that matters! The length and per year non guaranteed means squat.
That part that makes me confused is the fact that they only save 2-5 million dollars a year. Like if they wait to years and have to pay him 60 million after he proves himself then so be it its only 5 million and he'll be worth it. But if he starts playing terrible its 55 million for another 5 years.
He got $60 million more than Burrow in guarantees. That was the surprising part.
They are smart for paying him but at same time these QBs that haven't done anything need to quit breaking the bank only sb winners and MVPs deserve top contact like the early 2000s.
Whoa whoa, cj stroud did everything in his career so far without diggs and without a highly paid wr1. Bad comparison there.
why does nobody mention that Jordan Love is also on a contract year and he is a better qb than, Dak, T Law and Purdy all guys Mike mentioned but forgot Jordan Love.
I will never understand why they all have to be the highest paid. Why not get paid based on how you played. Basically saying not all QB’s are equal. Franchise guy or not if you are only a top 7 QB you should get paid as such.
Hurts' contract lookin pretty fkn good compared to all these new QB contracts. Shit, AJ & Smith contracts lookin great in the WR position. In Howie, we trust. Fly Eagles Fly 🦅🦅🦅🦅
MIKE YOU A CLOWN . How you say TLaw had no WRs but not mention Lamar has has NO WRS HIS WHOLE CAREER, won MVP with Willie Sneed and Seth Roberts, the way y’all protect white QBs nd bring down black ones is crazy😊
Mike, if you are talking about paying a certain amount of money per year, you don't need to say "annually". Thst is what annually means.
Dude the equipment manager for the chiefs needs to do some work to mahomes helmet that thing is a dome it sits so high on his head it almost looks like a double shell cause its so big up top then his face mask is almost touching his chin he's there king make him look better
🐻⬇️❗️❗️❗️
Don’t know what I’m more excited for most, College football 25 or the upcoming NFL season🤔
So I have a question if Trevor loses again this season did they fuck up ?
I'm cringing at the thought of Josh Allen's nest extension the bills got them for what 6 years at 258 million and you don't hear any discontent out of the bills or Alan but you know his next contract is going to show whether or not he wants to be a winner or a rich semi-winner
