The haybine and merger is alot different than using a 6 foot sickle mower and a ground driven new idea hay rake surprising what 50 years of inprovement makes. Thank you BTP for this video good information.
Nice to see NY farming. I always felt packing the bunk was the most boring job in the world. These guys have it good with ac cabs. I was doing it with an open cab tractor when I was in my 20's and one time I had a small hole in the thigh of my jeans. I didn't think anything of it of course, but after 2 days that spot was blistered and horribly burnt by the sun. It was the worst sunburn I had ever seen. My arms, face, and neck were used to that kind of exposure, but my lily white thigh was not. After that I made sure my jeans weren't ripped when I drove in the sun all day.
Always good videos, would like to see more from that farm in NY that used the 9330s to mow that we saw a few years ago! Or maybe this is the same operation?
That's a far cry from a 10 ft sickle mower and 5 wheel rake. And oh yeah, a boy on the hay rack (me) stacking bales while my Dad was under the umbrella on the 504 Farmall pullng the IH baler. Those were the days!
Burning lots and lots of diesel fuel and your still getting your milk for about $2.29 a gallon at your local store.I hope everyone understands why most dairy farms go out of business. It takes alot of manpower and"BIG TRACTOR POWER"to do this.
bigtractorpower Oh yes it is and diesel fuel is going up again. Its running at about $3.19 a gallon here in the rust belt,so the profit margins are pretty thin from what I've seen so far.
What would be the definition of haylage? The material apparently has less moisture content than silage. And, the material is much more moisture content than dry hay. Is haylage preferred to silage so that there is not so much weight to haul from the field? How about the fermenting process in the bunker? Is there an ideal moisture content for doing the chopping? I would think the time from mow, to merger, to chopper would be very critical on a low humidity, sunny, slight breeze day.
bobbert368 western Im from Batavia in between Rochester and Buffalo we have 3 w235 john deere windrowets 2 oxbo mergers 2 class 960 choppers and a fleet of john deere articulated tractors 2 byron dump carts and 7 silage trucks. We are custom
This process is much different than the silage harvest I see in Europe. The use corn and the harvester cuts, chops and sprays it directly into the truck. The giant hill and packing it down is similar, though they use what are called buckrakes and I have seen videos of not only large 4x4 tractors smooshing the hell out of it, but they actually use rollers like you see on a highway paving job. They really pack that shit in. But it all ends up in a dairy cows belly and into milk, so what ever it takes, right?
the fact that you answered this guys question is incredible and shows how nice of a guy you are! wish i could’ve been at the farm day this year to meet everyone
I am not sure. It’s a good sized operation. Unfortunately when I filmed this I did not have time to visit the dairy. I was pressed for time to catch all the machines in the field.

It sure has changed. What used to take a week to clear a field is done in a matter of hours.

I never seen SP Xobo what a machine👍these guys are running very efficient operation of a farm.
I am going to make a separate video featuring the OXBO 4334. They are an impressive machine.
Absolutely lovely video, that merger is a fair machine.
It can cover some ground. This 4334 merger replaced 3 pull type 3334 mergers in this farm.
They are built about 15 minutes away from where I live I toured the factory as a new holland open house
Nice to see Pöttinger in the USA, European Equipment seems to get very Popular in the US... ;)
We are seeing more European hay equipment and several tractors.
How come you guys don't use mergers though? They seem better and faster than a big hay rake
Enjoyed much fast cutting pick up & compacting of Alfa keep those Holsteins happy. 🐄🚜
It is neat to see in action.
Always good videos, would like to see more from that farm in NY that used the 9330s to mow that we saw a few years ago! Or maybe this is the same operation?
This is not the operation with the 9330 mowers. Those are very cool big machine mower set ups. I would like to film a 4wd mowing hay.
Great vid , awesome machines and interesting informations!! Greets Stefan
Thank you for watching each of the BTP videos.
Reminds me of making sauerkraut; wonder if those piles get the moisture squeezed out of them

Great video👍 New York State is cool to See
I grew up there. Always fun to film at home.
So did I. The scenery looks vaguely familiar. Is it around the Perry area?
Good ol Upstate Ny.. I Love upstate NY
Lots of good farming to see in Western New York.
What town is this near?
Those triple mowers can really cover some ground. Hopefully the dairies in our area don’t get hurt to bad with the deans and Walmart deal.
They sure cover some ground.

It is a tough time in dairy.

I have never seen such a big merger like this.
OXBO makes a monster.
Nice Video ,have you one about staheliwest too ?

Haylage is a term for hay silage. Mainly you let it dry just a bit. You can not chop the alfalfa straight from the mower. It would be too wet.
The forage harvester doesn't process the alfalfa into haylage; the process of ensiling does.
What the video is trying to show is the Forage harvester starts the process of moving it from crop to feed.
Great video!
Great video! Keep the New York videos coming ! Thank you
There will be some more WNY videos. Thank you for watching.
Good video 👍🏻👍🏻
Glad you liked it. Thank you for watching.
lol did any one see the light hanging of the case tractor
Those trucks in the field create compaction, especially the front axle tires : yes? no?
Yes trucks create allot of compaction. Lots of weight. That is why they merge they hat to reduce the amount of traffic over the field.
Super thanks again
Thank you for watching.
Very interesting video ,good to see a 9000 series JD and a 9230 Caseih ,thank you.
Thank you for watching.
Awesome machines en great video 🙂
Thank you for watching.
Now that is the way to make cattle feed. As always great vid, thanks
Thank you for watching.
Please do more videos in New York
That is always my goal. I grew up in New York.
Where abouts in New York

Those buck rake interest me. It looks like they feather it out on a pile with a buck rake.
Nice video! Great catches! Best regards :-)
Nice video brings back some memories
Hay in May is one of my favorite seasons on the farm.
Can you use that prodrive with an corn stock header to cut corn silage
Yes.
Yes you can. I have some videos on the channel of 7780s in corn.
Nice, nice, but you're saying Pöttinger wrong!
How do you say it?
bigtractorpower With G as in gear, not as Gemini. Ö would sound as close as ui so the final result would be PutInGeh
Is that the farms equipment or a custom operator
that oxbo merger different way of moving forage. didn't know they made self propelled
Hey every time I publish a video It has black bars on the thumbnail but when I watch it the bars aren't there. Is it just the quality of the video?
Are you posting a thumb nail picture you took with a camera separate from the video?
bigtractorpower No I take the vid then I just upload it. No picture
You might try uploading a picture from the camera that takes your video. It should fill the thumb nail area completely.
bigtractorpower Thanks. Hate to waste your time.
the fact that you answered this guys question is incredible and shows how nice of a guy you are! wish i could’ve been at the farm day this year to meet everyone
How many cows do they have
I am not sure. It’s a good sized operation. Unfortunately when I filmed this I did not have time to visit the dairy. I was pressed for time to catch all the machines in the field.
50 pounds? Maybe 50 psi.
50 pounds per square inch?
