I'm just glad to see that they are FINALLY going to put buttons on their optics!!! It took them long enough to add shake awake. They could have really been a head of the game, but instead we're stuck in this game of playing trade offs on features for prices.
What you said about PA's innovation is spot on! They have always been about improving and increasing their optic line up. At a reasonable prices and very good customer service also. I do purchase from them and will continue to do so.
Long eye relief was the big factor for me. A 3x with long eye relief would also be of interest. I am essentially looking for a very compact scout scope. Ordered the Glx 1X today.
Thank you for mentioning the lower mounting height for the SLX. I wish that there were a way to mount these PA prisms ever lower on a Picatinny rail for lever action rifles. Chin welds don’t work for me. That said, I really like removing that big protrusion on the left side. Assuming that you are right eyed and shoot with both eyes open, that thing blocks a lot more of your left eye’s view.
The centerline mounted height is the same for both; cheek weld is identical. Now, the overall height is greater, because of the larger lens, but the reticle position is unchanged.
@@jefflemaster2850 I put a GLX 2x on a Rossi R-95 (clone of Marlin 336) and needed a LOT of cheek riser to get a decent cheek weld. That was with the lowest possible mount. The iron sights are just above the top of the receiver, and that’s what the stock is designed for. Add the rail and then a mount intended for a AR ….. I love the SLX 1x on my PCC but here?
To my eye from your footage, it looks like the little bit of extra FOV on the GLX is blurry compared to the SLX, and the non-blurry area of each is about the same. Especially noticeable when looking at leaves at 17:48. It also looks like the SLX has about 1.1x magnification while the GLX looks to be like 1.2x. Just ever so slightly more, based on the footage presented.
Would love to see a side by side of this new glx vs swampfox raider since they seem to have similar sizes. But I tend to like the raider reticle better
Regarding the buttons: I can hardly imagine that's a problem. I mean... On is up. On is down. One is in front. One is in the back. If you can remember where the front of your optic is, then you can remember where the up-button is. I can't tell the up from the down button apart on my Eotech by feel of the button itself, BUT I know one is in the front and one is in the back and I know how the front and the back of the optic feel...
Knowing where the buttons are supposed to be is not the same as being able to feel the buttons. An Eotech's buttons are pretty easy to feel, so you know if you're on a button even if you're not sure which button it is. On the GLX 1x, the buttons look like they're more like the buttons on my key fob. Sure, I know the upper-left button unlocks the car, and the upper-right button locks the car. But the buttons are so flat it's impossible to tell where one button ends and the other begins without looking. It's also impossible to tell where a button ends and the fob housing begins because the area around the buttons is also rubberized. Since the buttons are flush with the surface, they will only trigger with a solid press on the center of the button, if I'm not perfectly centered on the button, it won't click. And due to the lack of tactile feedback, it's impossible to tell by feel what I need to do to correct the issue. Was I pressing 1/8" too low? 1/8" too high? Off to the left or right? If the buttons were raised a bit so that I could actually feel them, the key fob would be much easier to use in the dark, even if I still have to memorize which button does what. The car itself does a much better job in this regard. The buttons on the steering wheel are all raised, so it's easy to tell if my fingers are on a button without having to look, which is especially important for the buttons on the back of the steering wheel. For button clusters on the front, there's even a central divot that helps make it easier to feel out the relative positions of the buttons. And the buttons on the back have a raised bump on one button and a divot on the other button to make it easy to distinguish between the buttons. Controls that are likely to be used in the dark need to be designed to be easy to use without looking at them. Sure, one can always train around the limitations, but given that an optic might need to be activated under stressful situations, why let the manufacturer off the hook for a design shortcoming, especially on something that's supposed to be their premium offering?
Pretty much every optic I can think of that has horizontal side buttons for illumination, left is up, right is down, even when the buttons are separated from each other and placed on the opposite sides of the optic left is always up and right is down. No confusion whatsoever for most people I imagine.
I bought 1 from Simmons($264 after code PA12). Love the slx so hopefully I'll love the glx as well. The .5 click value is what sold me, 1moa clicks is my only issue with the slx
Now that you got it, is it much of an improvement over the SLX? I have neither, and am trying to decide on whether the GLX is worth the extra $70 over the SLX.
@@CDOESThanks so much for all your efforts. When you cross terrain and CQB with your optics. We as consumers finally get to see how the real world application of the product works. It has been immensely helpful. Im new and you’ve helped me a ton. Thanks again. Great job.
As always great review & thank you for making quality content. As far as the GLX Microprism goes I’ve been waiting for this to drop & see your thoughts on it. My only wish with this optic is that they put a little more into the reticle in the form of some BDC drops & a slightly larger horseshoe. With those reticle changes I think it would be great for cqb & distance engagements when paired with a magnifier.
Love your reviews Mr. C! All the video I've seen of the PA 1X reticles seem to suggest that the horseshoe reticle is considerably smaller than Holosun's 65 MOA circle-dot. In fact, Primary Arms is to scared to actually release the MOA size specs for its reticles, fearing that someone will put them out of business if they get hold of the respective MOA specs. Mr. C, how would you compare your Holosun circle-dot and PA reticle sizes (Both the GLX and SLX)? Also is the PA chevron too fat for its small size to be fully effective? Would love to have your thoughts.
C, might I offer a suggestion. Something I got turned onto somewhat recently - Light leakage out of the front objective (illumination in dark environments). Some optics are flat out horrible, while others there is virtually none. So far, I can't correlate any feature set VS how much leaks out the objective while using illumination. Obviously, a target or Bambi doesn't care in the slightest. But there are some use cases where it could be a life altering event........ How do these two do on that front?
If your target can see the forward projection of your reticle, it is because your rifle is aiming directly at their eye. It's a function of how light enters the reticle; etched reticles like this sight and most LPVOs scatter light through the rough, etched reticle surface, so some light goes forward as well as backward, along the aiming axis. Fiberoptic (firedot) or refractive ($$$) reticles efficiently send all most 100% of lightly straight back at the user. Reflex sights like red dots have a two-way mirror, so a good portion of the light does make it through the front, but is not magnified by bouncing off the curved mirror, so it appears as an infinitesimal dot of light, visible from any angle not blocked by the sight housing. But in the case of etched reticles, the only way the target can see them, is if you are already aiming your rifle at something you are prepared to destroy.
I find the etched markings alone to be so useful that I almost never use the illumination anyway. I favor the SLx/GLx models for AR pistols and carbine usage, CQB out to about 200y.
@@illuminis I'm getting a T2 to review finally. As much as I like the slx and glx 1x prism, they serve a slightly different role from the T2. The T2 has been military tested for decades at this point. It's proven, reliable, and bulletproof (nearly) the slx and glx are great for what they are. But they are designed for civi use first before anything else. I'm sure they could withstand a good amount of abuse. But they are still too new to confirm that just yet. Mine has been solid. But I haven't dropped my rifle onto rocks by accident. However, I'd you can't use a T2 because of yours eyes. Then the pa offerings are absolutely worth it.
Thank you for this interesting review - yes the illumination knob on the Slx is difficult to use - It seems that the new Glx is moving closer to the ergonomics of the model made by Sampfox - I know that the Slx is perfectly fine on a PCC, I am sure that the new Glx will be at least as good
Honestly was worried about feeling bad about my previous purchase of the slx, but im happy with "missing out" on the slight upgrades. I do wonder if the glx is better with a magnifier. love my slx with my 3x magnifier
Thx for all the detail! Also, if they make ARROWS instead of TRIANGLES for the illumination button on Glx, it would FEEL CLEAR/EASIER TO FEEL which one is which😅
@@XLOGIC-LLC it is not designed for a shotgun or a lever action rifle. I have talked with Primary Arms about this. I own an SLX 1x and have tried the lowest mounting option. It’s OK if you put a cheek riser on your stock, but it is designed for PCCs and ARs.
@@XLOGIC-LLC your reticle might be designed for a shotgun, but the Primary Arms prisms really are not. I own an SLX 1x and have tried the lowest available mount on a lever action rifle. It is not low enough for a good cheek weld without a riser/pad. I even talked with Primary Arms about this. These prisms are designed for ARs and PCCs - they’re great for that application.
What happened too the 2x prism for 7.62x39/300 blackout? I funally got my ak put together and now i cant even get the dream optic for it smh. This whole project has been a nightmare
I'm liking the chevron less and less. For my eyes, trying to use the tip of the chevron for pinpoint, accurate shots is definitely slower than using a dot as an aiming point. YMMV. 🤷♂️😎
@@XLOGIC-LLCthe vector paragon 1x has a very fine 1moa dot. Too fine for me personally, a bit hard to pick up when not illuminated but a nice optic although I haven’t tried the PA prisms yet.
I am eagerly awaiting the release of the GLx MD-21S Micro Dot, but they keep pushing the date back. I hope you can do a review when it drops! My issue with the SLx is how it interacted with the PA 3X Micro magnifier, which PA seemed to market as a companion for the Micro Prism, for a while. I knew prisms and magnifiers were iffy, and I couldn't make it work. It was incredibly frustrating to get a clear picture between the two of them, and the Micro Magnifier is a great magnifier for the price and plays well with red dots, which is why I am now looking at the GLx MD-21S. (The Prism rides on my 590 until I find a more appropriate home for it.)
It seemed to me the SLx worked with magnifiers if your eyes didn't require much diopter adjustment on either optic. The GLx flat out doesn't care; once it's focused to your eye, it's in focus even if you're 6" back where a magnifier would be. Swing the mag into place and focus its diopter through the 1x, and you're done.
Does the eotech exps have an etched reticle? If not, i suppose the glx has an advantage with its etched reticle. In Ukraine there was a big battery shortage. Thanks for the video! Great seeing them under NV.
Can anyone else confirm it’s ok to use SLX Cyclops on a 9mm PCC like he mentioned here? I know the BDC isn’t rated for it but are there any other problems to look for when doing this? I’d like to wait for Gemini but the back orders are real bad up here in Canada and the Cyclops is available. I’m a new shooter. Any info is greatly appreciated.
You can yes. But it's not ideal. In one circumstance, it's easier to focus images, the other it's easier to zero and maintain zero. Ex. Eye -> magnifier -> optic -> target: you will have a harder time getting focus of both optics for magnified and not mag but it's doable. The optic is zerod and the magnifier zero doesn't matter it just centers behind. In the opposite set up eye -> optic -> mag -> target: you'll need to zero the optic and zero the magnifier. In this case the magnifier needs to be zerod. Also depending on the mounts and lining up, it may be zerod at a distance but be off from expected at other distances. So any bdc may not work at all. But easier to focus the reticle and the magnified image.
I have the Ghost forward magnifier from Monstrum tactical and it works great! You have to sight it in just like an optic but it works. I have one on a 1x and a 3x prism
Yes, but remember that if the glass is damaged you won't be able to sight through it, and the scope has an etched reticle that's as visible as any black iron sight even if the battery fails. Backup irons really only make sense if the optic is on a QD mount that can be quickly discarded if it is badly damaged (which is a fairly tall order for this optic). For a red dot optic that needs power to project a reticle, the BUIS are more useful.
From what I can tell the biggest upgrade is the lack of an adjustment knob on the left side of the optic. This knob gets in my left eye's visual path which I assume would be the case for other right handed shooters as well. The Aimpoint T2 has the adjustment knob on the right so it was a non-issue for me; I might upgrade to GLx even though I like knobs. Maybe the SLx is a better option for left handed shooters?
glass between glx and slx is kinda the same I feel at this point with the newest slx and glx options, you are paying for features excluding glass upgrade with it anymore.
I have several SLX-1's - they seem much better on AR pistols, PDW's and minimalist rifles. I also have an SLX 3x magnifier but sadly it works much better with red dots than micro prisms.
With this GLx anticipated hype I would've expected it to be a little better. I want one but probably wait a while and hopefully they will fix the illumination buttons profile, the illumination reticle fill, and adjustable diopter wobble.
@toddparsons2980 True , it takes more space & also not that pretty but performance is perfection , it truly is. Its negatives won't matter after 1st range trip.
Genuinely curious, I don’t own either of these but I’m in the market for. The trijicon mro is ~300 on amazon, I’m sure if I message my gunstore buddy I could get it even cheaper. That’s without accessories of course which this one comes with. Why would I go with this one instead of the brand name American made trijicon, for close to the same price? Is the mro not a micro prism? What is the benefits of having a micro prism?
Usually people with astigmatism has less illumination starburst on prisms. Also on the prism you get the edged reticle, so you have a black reticle even if your battery dies.
MRO is not a microprism. It's a projected red dot, so if your battery dies you're left with a tube with clear glass but no reticle. Microprisms have reticles which are still visible with a dead battery.
In addition to what others have said, the MRO is a pretty terrible optic for the price. It has terrible fisheye, etc. There are plenty of cheap Chinese manufactured optics that are 1/4 of the price, like the Sig Romeo5, that are better optically and just as, if not more, durable. The MRO HD is much better, but it's a lot more expensive.
I got mine yester but in green instead of red, I like it alot, didn't carr for the slx that much bur I personally see alot of difference in the glass, going to get a new mount for it though, but yeah I wasn't sure if it was a keeper but I definitely dig it.

I'm just glad to see that they are FINALLY going to put buttons on their optics!!! It took them long enough to add shake awake. They could have really been a head of the game, but instead we're stuck in this game of playing trade offs on features for prices.
Thanks for a great video! Have you tried this with a magnifier, and how did that work?
What you said about PA's innovation is spot on! They have always been about improving and increasing their optic line up. At a reasonable prices and very good customer service also. I do purchase from them and will continue to do so.
Right on
Thank you!! We try! We love being able to make the stuff that you all ask for!
I just got the slx 1x for under 200. I hope the 100 dollar difference is worth it. So far I've loved my 1-6 acss nova
Long eye relief was the big factor for me. A 3x with long eye relief would also be of interest. I am essentially looking for a very compact scout scope. Ordered the Glx 1X today.
You have to tag Joe for this because PA named the optic after his name LOL. Great review !
I was thinking the slx on my .44 carbine would be a good fit. You are having problems getting a check weld on yours?
@@jefflemaster2850 I put a GLX 2x on a Rossi R-95 (clone of Marlin 336) and needed a LOT of cheek riser to get a decent cheek weld. That was with the lowest possible mount. The iron sights are just above the top of the receiver, and that’s what the stock is designed for. Add the rail and then a mount intended for a AR ….. I love the SLX 1x on my PCC but here?
Keeping the SLx. Thanks for the thorough review and saving me some money.
I absolutely could notice the 1 MOA issue on SLx. Can't get it dead on zero'd (on one rifle)
Thank you for making this video, super helpful
To my eye from your footage, it looks like the little bit of extra FOV on the GLX is blurry compared to the SLX, and the non-blurry area of each is about the same. Especially noticeable when looking at leaves at 17:48. It also looks like the SLX has about 1.1x magnification while the GLX looks to be like 1.2x. Just ever so slightly more, based on the footage presented.
Enjoy your reviews. Very thorough and very informative. If no one ever told you before, but you sound very similar to Paul Harrel may he RIP.
GLX x2 is the GOAT
That's what has found a forever home on my 300blk. I can't get over how much I like it.
I want a japanese 2x So BADDDDDDD
Jap GLX 2X count me in :)
Japanese 1x optimized for a magnifier and drop detects for longer ranges
@@conradanderson404 How does one get a prism sight 'optimized' for a magnifier? Does such a thing exist or are we just wishing?
Definitely GLx, bigger, sleeker, no obnoxious rheostat sticking out, negligible weight for what I'd use it for anyway.
The up button is forward of the down button. Roger that.
Always an awesome review!! Thanks for the video!!
Thanks for the great content, C_DOES! 🔥👍
I wish they would update the GLx 2x in the newer microprism form factor.
Always great reviews !
Would love to see a side by side of this new glx vs swampfox raider since they seem to have similar sizes. But I tend to like the raider reticle better
Regarding the buttons:
I can hardly imagine that's a problem. I mean... On is up.
Awesome video thanks, very helpful
I bought 1 from Simmons($264 after code PA12). Love the slx so hopefully I'll love the glx as well. The .5 click value is what sold me, 1moa clicks is my only issue with the slx
Now that you got it, is it much of an improvement over the SLX? I have neither, and am trying to decide on whether the GLX is worth the extra $70 over the SLX.
they should make a GLX 4x with a pic rail/RMR plate up top. Instant buy for me
You can find older 4x Primary Arms optics on the second hand market.
They are big scopes but solid.
I miss your half life sound you used to use in the room clearing demonstrations
@@macdude04 I was thinking about bringing them back for a special video again. It was a lot of fun doing that. But it took a very long time to setup
@@CDOESThanks so much for all your efforts. When you cross terrain and CQB with your optics. We as consumers finally get to see how the real world application of the product works. It has been immensely helpful. Im new and you’ve helped me a ton. Thanks again. Great job.
Thank you for the excellent video
As always great review & thank you for making quality content. As far as the GLX Microprism goes I’ve been waiting for this to drop & see your thoughts on it. My only wish with this optic is that they put a little more into the reticle in the form of some BDC drops & a slightly larger horseshoe. With those reticle changes I think it would be great for cqb & distance engagements when paired with a magnifier.
Need to make a PLX version with drops and optimized for a magnifier
Can you review Swampfox Tomahawk gen 2?
I couldn't decide, but the better controls are worth the weight.
To distinguish UP button from the DOWN button they could make one of them in the shape of a circle and one in the shape of a dog
Thanks, saved me 300 bucks
Was debating on an SLx 1x for my Stribog SP10A3. Your videos helped push me over the edge and try it.
I find the etched markings alone to be so useful that I almost never use the illumination anyway. I favor the SLx/GLx models for AR pistols and carbine usage, CQB out to about 200y.
Great review. So price aside, would you take this over a Aimpoint t2?
Thank you for this interesting review
- yes the illumination knob on the Slx is difficult to use
- It seems that the new Glx is moving closer to the ergonomics of the model made by Sampfox
- I know that the Slx is perfectly fine on a PCC, I am sure that the new Glx will be at least as good
Honestly was worried about feeling bad about my previous purchase of the slx, but im happy with "missing out" on the slight upgrades. I do wonder if the glx is better with a magnifier. love my slx with my 3x magnifier
Nice review! Ty.
I have the 3x micro. Nice and clear, xtra bright illumination and very compact. 😊
Thx for all the detail! Also, if they make ARROWS instead of TRIANGLES for the illumination button on Glx, it would FEEL CLEAR/EASIER TO FEEL which one is which😅
Swamp fox raider has an arrow and it’s an amazing 1x prism as well…hope they make a 3x version soon😎
@derek3154 looks like the raider is more compatible to the SLX, NOT GLX. Both raider and Slx have similar specs as well as the price.
The centerline height of the GLx is identical to the SLx; the overall height of the larger lens is higher, but cheek weld/alignment is still the same
Curious how this would do on a shotgun. I have the Beretta 1301 and have been thinking about adding a dot.
My concern would be height over bore. The SLX 1x clearly is designed for an AR or something else designed for mounting high over the bore.
It’s designed for a shotgun, the donut is your 00 pattern zero slugs at 25/100 yards
@@chipsterb4946it comes with low mounts too
@@XLOGIC-LLC it is not designed for a shotgun or a lever action rifle.
My opinion , the GLX Prism looks clearer and looks better. I will pay more the buy the PA GLX 1X.
What happened too the 2x prism for 7.62x39/300 blackout? I funally got my ak put together and now i cant even get the dream optic for it smh. This whole project has been a nightmare

@@barnbwt ***tips top hat, winds Patek Phillipe watch*** I say good day, sir.

Why are we talking about FOV for a 1x optic? Does it not work for aiming with both eyes open?
Yes, it works like that.
I think im just gonna stick with my slx
You weighed them with different mounts, then removed the mounts?
can it be used as far as in a scout scope?thanks
Will they make 3x
Have you seen the forward magnifier by Monstrum that goes in front of the microprism?
I got mine today. Hard to see reticle lines at bottom. Wish reticle was larger. But otherwise i like it.
Do a review on the new Unity Magnifier, I need to validate the purchase prior to blowing money lol
So they eye box and eye relief are pretty much identical?
If you were mounting this far forward on an ultimak rail which would you choose?
Any thoughts on the GLX with a Vortex 3x magnifier?

Does yours come with a lens cover? Mine doesn’t
Mine didnt either. Saw another guys unboxing and his didn't have one.
I think thats one of the adds ons you pay extra for.
So the Killflash is separate?
Just curious because mine did not come with one.
The ARD is a separate accessory
@C_Does : I read that prism scopes can be magnified by placing magnifier infront of the prism scope (towards the muzzle).
Is that true?

Whats the best place to go to for second hand nightforce or leupold scopes? Thanks
Can you co witness irons with the glx on an ar15?
Can the glx be used with their mini magnifier like the slx?
What about having a magnifier behind this? I know the SLX had some weird lens things, but thought the GLX may handle it better. Thoughts?
It handles it much better; no need to adjust the 1X diopter to work with anything but your eyes. Same goes for night vision devices

What’s the performance of these with magnifiers? Any significant difference between the two?
The GLx 1x works great with our 3x Micro Magnifier!
I perceive a difference in how color is presented. GLx seems warm, SLx cooler. Both seem sharp.
GLX2x has no tint crystal clear glass.
It would of been nice if they used it in this glx build.
How do they work with a magnifier. Does that push it too far forward to use the 1X for intended use?
It is difficult to mount the GLx 1x MP too far forward ;-)
Its probably a set it and forget it, change the battery once a year type of thing.

Does this work with the 6x glx magnifier?
glass between glx and slx is kinda the same I feel at this point with the newest slx and glx options, you are paying for features excluding glass upgrade with it anymore.
GLX-2X , you won't be disappointed
@@pjc4425 it's nice but big compared to the MPs

It works without batteries.
