Roger Sharpe is happy because he knows this machine was going to be a HUGE success. It had block buster on it from the timing and topic of the movie, one of the very best licenses ever for pins.
@JimHawkwind03411 I can see that, too. Lawlor has his traits like any other designer. Brian Eddy likes large toys, Dennis Nordman likes squiggly plastic ramps, etc.
@JimHawkwind03411 You got it. I never cared for the Ritchies' games too much, although Taxi was fun. Lawlor's games always hooked me quick, both due to playfield flow/speed and deep rulesets, even though those rulesets can seem formulaic after a while. You mentioned Whirlwind. Man, I forgot how much I used to love that game. That's one of his best IMO.
It's funny looking back on this segment, knowing now that Addams Family is the all-time best selling pin. AF's playfield is very much a mirror image of FunHouse's playfield, but I like it anyway.

Lawlor is a genius.
@elsquibbs That, and Steve Ritchie has the "Picard Maneuver" shot (left loop/ramp to upper loop/side ramp), and Mark Ritchie has his timed jackpots.

@elsquibbs Looks more like Whirlwind to me, esp. with the Million Plus ramp.
