In the trailer the WoL goes through all the jobs he ahd in previous opening cinematics: Archer from 1.0 trailer, Warrior from end of 1.0 and the ARR, and HW cinematic, Dragoon from the end of HW cinematic, Monk and Samurai from Stromblood, and then switches to the poster job of Shadowbringers the Dark Knight
I've injured an eye twice in my life to where I wore an eyepatch same as I'd wear a bandage or brace. People sometimes criticize Thancred's eye cover like it's inconsistent or makes so sense, but nothing about bandaging an eye implies permanence, for me.

Fun fact about the gremlin in the opening, the voice was decided upon last minute. The person came up with the idea at home. He recorded it from in his closet late at night. I always think what if someone from his family woke up and heard that coming from the closet.

Fun fact: the singer in this trailer is Jason Charles (JC) Miller, who not only also sang Close the Distance, the song which plays in area 6 of Endwalker, but he was the voice of Raubahn all the way back in ARR. Multi talented guy, and Square Enix clearly still like him.
One of the interesting things in that trailer is that the Job changes match those of the cinematic trailer for each version of the game. Archer = Original; Warrior = ARR; Dragoon = Heavensward; Monk = Stormblood; and Dark Knight = Shadowbringers. Even the Samurai Job first used is a collective reference to Stormblood. This is also the first time we get such clear references to the main story in a trailer. The others alluded to events, but never showed so many of them.
I was happy to see you were able to catch all the dialogue! A lot of reactions they talk over the people and they missed the Master Matoya and Minfilia name drops. Of all the trailers I think this one leaves you the most confused by the end of it. That being said, -1 for not thirsting after Urianger! (I kid, but he is my favorite, and his AST outfit is just *chefkiss*)
You actually got the situation with Zenos correct. Because he is of Ascian decent and was given an artificial echo, he was able to persist after death like the Ascians do.
I think the Artificial Echo has more to do with Zenos' ability to come back than from the dead than an Ascian great grandfather. Ascian ancestry is just genetics, which is kinda lost when the body dies. But the Echo is an ability of the SOUL which transcends death and is an ability that all Ascians have.

In my opinion, this trailer is legendary. Probably the greatest game trailer ever made, because it excels at what it's meant to do: Hype you up beyond words. The Shadowbringers trailer is what made me finally play FFXIV, so it will always be my favorite!
What's pretty wacky is that we knew that the Echo could be used to subvert death since all the way back in A Realm Reborn. It was in the lead up to the Leviathan trial, there was a Sahagin who was able to use the Echo to transplant his soul in another's body.
