I have seen a Gukesh game that had four brilliancies within 5 moves and a string of sacrifices that led to winning. He has the ability to win the championship but then again, he is playing the world champion. Nerves will be a factor but we'll find out if game 3 he does better.
Look. Expectations are high for Gukesh in this World Championship. He came in as the heavy favorite, while Ding was struggling this past year despite being the defending champion. Ding has an amazing 2nd richard Rapport his style is mainly out prepping the opponent and he actually succeded with a5,a4 I think high level players are over prepped specific lines to the end it may be a disadvantage when you have rapport as the opponents 2nd anyway 1st game was hard to watch I think after G4 gukesh lost it anyway still rooting for gukesh

I mean, I think Magnus is sort of in a shock about the amount of inaccuracies played by Gukesh. However, this was a game like no other game I've seen, so many different positions that almost came out of nowhere and the refusal of queen swap several times was interesting. I mean Gukesh also blocked the castle but Ding was sort of "unbothered" about that.... I will see this game several times again
Ding slowly tied Gukesh up in knots before Gukesh realised it, then it was too late to do anything about it. Ding had all his pieces covered leaving Gukesh with no good moves to make. As a result, he came under worsening time pressure and barely made it to 40 moves in his allotted 2hr limit. That's when the poor decision-making took over Gukesh's game. MC is right.
Let's hope Marcus doesn't post anything negative on some popular YT chess channels, they'll remove an innocuous comment about someone having a bad game, or the opening not being great etc etc.
I agree with everything GOAT says about Gukesh, but I feel a little bit of anger because he trust Gukesh He said a couple of weeks before the match, that Ding is not going to reach the level he used to have. As a fellow guy who watched chess for a few years, I can understand his frustration. That game was certainly not a World Championship level game. The whole Carlsen-Nepo WCC was one of the most precise chess tournament in history. Even in game 6 Nepo was just so perfect. And just in 3 years after seeing Nepo-Carlsen and seeing this certainly justifies any frustration.

On multiple occassions I found myself asking 'Why did Gukesh play that - there are better moves - this and this - surely ?' Then I'd say to muself - he's the world no 5, in the form of his life, he knows better. But the 'better' never seemed to happen. It was confusing - does Gukesh have a grand plan behind it all ? I thought. Around midgame I gave up analyzing the game and just followed intermittently. Turns out that I (and MAGNUS !) was right after all.
The ex champion Kramnik also said that in his recap but as Magnus said at least its the worst he can play so better game ahead..but im team ding anyway :p
