    Clear, concise and very professionally explained. Basting - SO important - thank you for encouraging us to do this extra step as it is very worthwhile. Honestly, you have made me a better sewer - still a beginner but inching forward to a better result every time I watch your instructions. Please know how much you are appreciated - thank you very much. xx

    I did it! It actually looks good. If not for your instructions I would have given up sewing and run over my sewing machine with a truck by now. Thank you, thank you talented, wonderful lady.

    So happy to find your tutorial after major frustration trying to work out how to sew my shirt placket. Convert to hand basting, it has made everything so much easier. Many thanks.

    I have just made my first Aria with long sleeves, and I can say with complete confidence that I could never have done the sleeve placket without following this tutorial in every detail. Mine isn't just as perfectly finished as Karina's but it looks good and it's in a busy pattern that hides a lot of little mistakes. Another wonderful tutorial. I have three more lengths of fabric destined for three more Arias.

    😮oh my goodness so well done. You’ve made me remember how useful basting can be if I would just put the time in. My grandmother basted everything before she made me sew it on the machine😊. Yes I am inspired. And I love how you do things in reverse, it makes sense. Thank you again for teaching me another great technique!

    This is the first time I have watched your video. This was so informative and easy to do, and something I would never have tried. Basting is so under-rated but I remember many years ago at school we were always taught it. Thank you so much

    Great tutorial Karina, I used to make button down shirts years ago and was pretty good at the plackets, but time has left me a bit rusty and I want to give them another go....this was so concise and helpful! Gracias

    Thank you for another great tutorial!! I’m in the process of sewing my first button down shirt and this video is soooooo helpful. I recently purchased “wash away” thread - it’s a game changer for my hand basting!! Now I can baste on seam lines and a spritz of water dissolves the thread when I’m done sewing. 😊

    Great tutorial! When I did this for the first time, I was taught to think “short side to small side, tall side to large side” in order to orient it correctly on the sleeve.

    Thank you so much for this video! I'm working on the Aria blouse as my first button-up shirt, with plackets. I have to say the Love Notions video on plackets left me scratching my head. What to do? I quickly googled Pins & Needles & placket, and as always, you came to my rescue with clear, concise instructions that make every step very easy to follow. Thank you so much for your videos! I started sewing in 2020, and fortunately quickly discovered your videos, which have really made my sewing journey so much more enjoyable. Cheers from Waterloo, Ontario, Canada!

    Great tutorial! Thanks for clarifying where to position the placket piece. I don’t have trouble sewing the placket itself, but always struggle to remember where on sleeve to place it. Am not a fan of the continuous bias placket for most shirts so I change to the tower placket - but then the placement isn’t in the pattern info so I have to go grab another shirt to figure it out. Even then I worry I it backwards.

    Karina can I please ask a favor. Can you please start putting a time stamp in the description when you begin the demonstration portion because I like to go back many times and re-watch. Having the time stamp would make it easier if I decide to get the pattern or try the technique you are showing and go go straight to it. Thank you sooo much! I am really learning loads! So times I just need to watch a few times to get it right. 😄🤭

    This series has given me so much confidence to tackle shirts. You are just amazing!. Thank you! Please can I ask you a couple of questions? How do you decide whether to use the edge-stitxhinf for or the blind-hemmjng foot? Also, why don't you pivot on corners? Thank you xx

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles 2 года назад +2

      I like having two seams on corners for stretch and it makes folding the seam allowance onto itself easier. I really dislike trimming seam allowance diagonally, which is what it typically done with pivoted corners. I use the blind hem foot when I want to sew close to the edge for top stitching and understitching.

    Love this! Can I do this on pre-existing sleeves or do I have to definitely take them off the shirt and make them on the flat? The sleeves are wide and made of cotton poplin.

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles 2 года назад +1

      I’d undo the seam of the sleeve partially to extend the bottom, because it would be very fiddly to do with a sleeve already sewn.
