    Very simple.
We worry (with some evidence) that once these vendors get us hooked, they will just raise their subscription to a point that we can’t afford these services.
We worry that as we grow and need upgrades, the vendor does not have a seamless upgrade path.
We worry that our data is remote and can be hacked crippling our organisation.

Great explanation, I would be conservative on the data migration step which is most often a negotiable part of the integration process, I agree with all the other points.

Good explanation Eric, and your views resonate with my experiences as a client. I think the core message is to realise that as a client that you have to drive the vendors to deliver what you need, and that only you know what is going to work within your organisation. Organisations that rely too heavily on a vendor or integrator to just "get it right" tend to come unstuck.

I have experience in one ERP more than 20 years. I can sell only one ERP. Actually by now I should have knowledge of atleast 5 ERPs. Can give correct advice to clients.Too focussed in one ERP to save my career. Software vendor too focussed in revenue and not focussed holistic trainings. Many software service provider increased in revenue by many times
