    You know, I want to get a digital one, but I want one that also has lower zoom, let's say... Mostly for working with THT components and for assembling my quadcopters... My vision isn't getting any better, you know. 😬

    I've always wanted a stereoscopic/trinocular microscope, but I don't actually have stereoscopic 3D vision, so I'm wondering if it's even worth it over a digital one. I can see through both eyes, just not at the same time (it's complicated), but I still feel like looking at a screen is still going to be more difficult for small SMD work than looking through a stereoscopic microscope. At some point my eyesight will start to get worse, which necessitate magnification for small SMD work, but thankfully I'm still good for hand soldering down to 0201 without magnification if I'm careful.
    Although it's a bit of a mute point at the moment since I don't have the bench space for either a digital microscope or an optical one. I have been thinking about building a new island workbench that I can roll around to extend my workbench into an L shape, or have as a stand-alone soldering station on the other side of the room. If I build a cabinet underneath, that would give me enough room to have a microscope too, and I can just lift it out when required or pack it away if I just need more space. (The perils of trying to do hobby electronics in a tiny apartment!)

    Hi Voltlog, thank you for the report on this trino. Does it accept a standard Barlow lens ? That would get the working distance much more convenient for my case. Thanks.

      Yes it should. And this reminds me that my other microscope has a Barlow lens installed which is likely the reason for the higher working distance.

    Sounds reasonable. Dying to get one with a camera that guarantees a full 4k output .

      You'll typically want to get a separate camera just to have more options and pick a higher quality one like with a particular Sony sensor that might suit your needs.

    too bad its only 80..100mm working distance, the distance of the andonstar, but fully optical not digital would be nice.

      They must have just not sent the right setup, should have 0.5x barlow which would increase the working distance. But the LED also seems to take up extra space

      Yes! Another comment reminded me that my other microscope has a Barlow lens installed, which increases the working distance.
