*TOP TEN FACTS ABOUT PERSIA*
• Persian is an ancient language that has been spoken for almost 3500 years. This makes it one of the *classical languages of antiquity* with unique poetry that still exist today. It has contributed numerous words to the vocabulary of the English language, like "paradise," "pyjama", "rice," "amazon," "rose," "saffron," "asparagus," "spinach," "shawl," and "pistachio."
• Persian is a member of the *Indo-European language family.* It shares fundamental characteristics in terms of both grammar and vocabulary with its relatives like Latin, English, French, and Russian. Words like "baradar" for brother, "madar" for mother, "pedar" for padre in Spanish (father), "dokhtar" for daughter, "to" for tu in French (you), "andar" for inter, "do" for dos in Spanish (two), "zamin" for zemĕ in Croatian and zdmyla in Russian (earth), and even "shahr" for "skaan" in Old Norse (city), show the strong and old ties of this language family.
This similarity in language is due to the *Yamnaya culture,* which is believed to be the precursor to the *Proto-Indo-European expansion* that originated from the steppes of Central Asia where Iranian peoples come from.
This suggests that the customs and practices of Indo-European peoples across both Europe and Asia are rooted in the Yamnaya culture.
• Iran possesses a versatile array of natural attractions. This includes *grandiose mountains, verdant forests, panoramic landscapes, sunny coastlines, and abundant natural resources,* like minerals and metals. It is known for producing an abundance of pistachios, pomegranates, berries, saffron, and turquoise. The Persian turquoise boasts unique shades of blue that sets it apart from other varieties.
The Iranian Caspian Horse belongs to the first domesticated equine species.
Iranians have a *long history of horsemanship and equestrian sports.* Persian games like Chowgan date back to ancient times. Iran is known as the birthplace of horse riding and the earliest practitioners of this art have been Iranian peoples. The influence of Persian horsemanship can be seen in many modern equestrian sports like Polo, which has gained worldwide popularity.
• Persians were trailblazers in wearing *trousers and footwear.* This distinguishes them from the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans who wore gowns and cloaks. The traditional Persian dress is specifically crafted to endure Iran's chilly weather and showcases the ancient Iranian culture's practicality and ingenuity.
• Iran's native and ancient name means *"Land of Aryans,"* and it has been in use for over 2500 years. The name "Persia" was used by Greeks to describe Iran.
• The *Persian/Iranian World* is an ancient name for a region that spans from the Plateau of Iran to the Caucasus and Central Asia. This region houses Iranian customs, languages and peoples. Persian architecture reflects ancient philosophical, mathematical, and mystical themes. The ancient shades of turquoise are revered in Persian culture and depict the link between the earth and the unknown spiritual world. The *contributions of Persian scholars and poets* like Avicena, Rhasis, Biruni, Farabi, Khwarazmi, after whom the word "algorithm" is named, Ferdowsi, Khayyam, Saadi, Hafez, and Rumi, to the fields of philosophy, literature, art, musical theory, chemistry, mathematics, astronomy, and metaphysics, have bestowed the world with a wealth of Persian knowledge and wisdom.
• Persian cuisine is known for its ancient and unique gastronomic heritage. It *blends sweet and sour flavors* together and features fragrant and fluffy rice. Saffron and pistachios are conspicuously used in Persian cuisine and impart a rare flavor. This cuisine is also notable for its sour notes, which can be overpowering to those unfamiliar with it. The Iranian palate is accustomed to this sourness and sweetness and can even enjoy the tartness of limes on their own.
• Persian decorative arts and crafts have deep historical roots. Iranian artisans are known for their skillful designs, brilliant colors, and remarkable craftsmanship. This is reflected in various mediums like carpet weaving, painting, calligraphy, pottery, and metalwork. Persian paintings are acclaimed for their precuse embellishments and lively tones. These *Persian styles have had a major impact on the world* and inspired and influenced artists and designers across different cultures and periods. Persian art has been a main source of inspiration for European artists during the Renaissance period.
• The tradition of weaving carpets was invented in ancient Persia, when Iranian nomadic peoples used simple weaves of fabric to stay warm on cold and damp grounds. Over time, this basic need evolved into a sophisticated art form that produced the visually most beautiful patterns. *Persian carpets are praised for their beauty* and have been highly valued by royality, nobility, and collectors across the ages. Persian culture holds rugs as prized possessions that carry deep sentimental and cultural meaning. Today, Persian rugs are highly prized and sought-after decorative items around the world. Iran remains the center of carpet waving with unique and ancient styles.
• Persian culture has inspired and influenced people worldwide. This includes minds like Voltaire, Montesquieu, Nietzsche, Thomas Jefferson, and Alexander, who is believed to be the first admirer of Persian culture in the West.
The enduring legacy of Persian culture is evident in its profound influence on the world and attests to its magnificence and endearing qualities!

I had friends from Europe who spoke Arabic, but like the Saudis, because they had been living there for a long time, and when they came to Egypt, they did not understand the Egyptians' words until after two months of sitting with us.
The Arabs understand the Egyptian dialect because the Disney company used to show us its films from when we were children by dubbing them in the accent Egyptian
but the Egyptians do not speak 100% Arabic, not even 60%, their language is a mixture between Coptic, which was their language before Islam, and a mixture of their ancient language, so there are letters that many Egyptians do not say in the Arabic language, because these letters were not present among the ancient Egyptians. Naturally, a foreigner who speaks Arabic will find the Egyptian language difficult for him. The current Egyptians are inventing a new language on their own, but they understand all Arabs, and all Arabs understand Egyptians

When the Iranian guy says "Yes" in Persian, the subtitle says "Speaking Arabic". It's like Queen Elizabeth speaking English and the subtitle saying "[Speaking Chinese]".
So why Persian has Arabic words? The relationship between Persian and Arabic is very similar to the relationship between English and French (respectively). They have different roots (Germanic and Latin, respectively) but English has a lot of loan words from French. The main difference is that Germanic and Latin are Indo-European languages so they have similarities after all, but Persian and Arabic are totally different language families and developed independently. Persian is the Indo-Iranian branch of Indo-European languages and Arabic is a Semitic language.
So last question that I'm often asked: Iranians read and write in Arabic letters so it suggests that they understand each other. Well in that case you should also expect that a Polish person understand Latin since they write in Latin alphabet! I hope that's convincing :)
It's not "Arabic" letters, the letters were designed by Persian scholars and the relationship of Persian and Arabic isn't like English nd French. Khak bar sare ma keh beh horufhaye Dinbariye keh az Avesta mias migim horufhaye Arabi.
Arabic has more than 5000 Persian words.
Iranians don't read or write in Arabic letters, those letters were invented by Persian scholars. And there more than 5000 Persian words in Arabic. The relation between Persian and Arabic isn't comparable to French and English at all.

Egyptian and Lebanese would help you to understand Palestinian, Jordanian and Syrian and even some Iraqi.
Emirati would help for Saoudi, Yemeni, Omani, Qatari, Bahraini, Kuwaiti
Moroccan would help you to get ready and adapt with them all since it's the hardest and sharpest one and the most diverse with all letters pronunciation. And also would definitely help for Some Tunisian، Algerian and Lybian
When an Arab learn Moroccan, he would start understanding North African dialectes quickly, but if it was the opposite way, it's very hard because as I said, Moroccan is the most diverse in terms of words and sounds and pronunciation

There were two instances were they said 'Algeria' but the captions said 'Eritrea'. That is, with the woman from Morocco. Love the videos!
This channel has some really bad and inaccurate subtitling. Sometimes I wonder if they even subtitle the foreign la guages correctly.
Thank you for that because I wouldn’t have known. I’m deaf by the way
I saw that. I immediately knew she was saying Algeria, I would guess the director sits far from the cast and isn't the most proficient in English.
@@distar7471 I think it's just laziness and a lack of quality control. They're releasing one video every day, where each topic is usually barely different from the last. It doesn't seem to be genuinely made out of love, but rather as rushed "regular content" to serve RUclips's algorithm. It's an unfortunate trade off between great quality and attention to detail vs maximizing the views and watch time.
Because no one in europe or America in particular knows Algeria so they confuse it with Nigeria or other African countries hhh
Much love from Algeria🇩🇿🇲🇦
I love the Egyptian and Moroccan dialect💙💙
Thanks
As an Iranian can someone tell me why we confusing Christina? I feel like they blindsided her with an entire different language we speak Persian not arabic 💀 😂
I guess it sounds similar to them 😂😂😅 like you wouldn’t recognize the difference between korean and Chinese 😅
@3bood alharbi True but stillll
@3bood alharbi no, just loan words, we also have a pure Persian word for every equivalent loan words from Arabic.
But the most important difference is the structure of the language, its totally different, totally non related.
@3bood alharbi Wrong. Persian and Arabic are two entirely different languages with different roots. Arabic is a Semitic language while Persian is Indo-European. The reason they have some words in common is the loan words they use.
@3bood alharbi not that similar, just some loan words... but the sound is very different , farsi sounds more like turkish or urdu...

Egypt too. Egypt is both North African and middle eastern country
Thanks for inviting an Iranian representative ❤😍, but Persian language doesn't fall under the category of Arabic.
By the way, the Egyptian guy was such a vibe 😃
Geographically speaking it’s a Middle Eastern language so Persian language perfectly fall into the same category as Arabic
@@Benjamin_idkidc No, Middle east and Arabic are not corresponded. Linguistically Arabic is in the category of Semitic languages like Hebrew while Persian (Farsi) is in the Indo-European language group like Hindi
@Bnjmn languages are not categorized by regions, but by language family
@@phoenixrising4051 not necessarily actually when you talk about “languages” you should always categorize them by language families and when you talk about nations/countries/ continents it’s always acceptable to categorize them by their geographical region, like “Irans languages” or “languages of china”… for instance there’re more than 20 languages just in Iran, with 3 different languages families (Indo-European, Ural-Altai, Semitic)
@Bnjmn that's not the point here since the language spoken in the video is Persian. It doesn't come into the same category with Arabic and Turkish, even though they are neighboring countries. So categorizing by region doesn't work here.
As a moroccan I didn't know I'm from the middle east
Great to see all these middle eastern people! Love to you all! From Afghanistan!

Farsi sounds totally different from Arab, that was the easy one
Farsi(persian) is totally diferent language from Arabic so that makes sense.
@@MATA-mz1db It's not really totally different.. Parsi borrowed the Arabic script and also borrowed so many Arabic words. It's actually the closest language to Arabic
@@TheAliXxD 😂😂idk what you’re smoking but Arabic is a Semitic language whereas Persian is an Indo-European language. Languages that are not even from the same language family cannot be “closest to each other”
@@TheAliXxD 70% of Persian words are Arabic? Where do you get your facts from? Go speak to any Persian-speaking person and you will understand little to none.
@Richard Not really but ok, we’re about truth here not who had did exist first💀, yes iran had an old civilization and did influence arab in a lot of things equally as much arab people influenced you and yes you guys do use Arabic script almost all your letters are arabic only few words different
Latifa😍🇸🇦🇸🇦
I can tell the difference between Farsi (Iran) and Arabic (the other three), but that's about it for me. I might have gotten the Iranian guy right if I'd concentrated. Not sure about the others.
Am persian this is Persian language not Africa or Arab irrelevant
@@afsane_nezhadi Yes, I seperated Farsi (Persian) from Arabic.
Yeah once u know the person is from Middle East u get three choices Iranian, Turk or Arab. And all three languages can easily be distinguished from each other 💛

its actually hard even for arabs, there are so many different accents in each arabian country, like there are words used in south iraq similar to the words of kuwait, and north saudia, also some words in middle of egypt similar to some words in saudia arabia, its so hard to guess, the best way to guess is by listening to the way they speak letters instead of listening to the words, some of them speak K as Q and others as A and others dont even pronounce it.
