Love the old Yamaha acoustic and somebody who's not afraid to play something in a video, that isn't one of the more "respected" (read expensive) brands. A good-sounding, well-aged guitar in the hands of a talented player speaks for itself...
Beautifully done. One of my favourite things about hearing Gillian Welch and David Rawlings play this song is how it is like a total musical conversation...you captured that magik and made it yours. Fantastic.
I love to hear Madison sing and play guitar. Great song. I would love to hear more songs with Danny Donnelly. His playing was perfect for this song too.
As liquid as a gentle gravel stream flowing around rocks and catching and reflecting every shaft of sunlight and sending it back to me. Why am I so blessed?
Such a difficult song done full justice. Takes me back to when the original was released and I played the whole record continually on repeat. Beautiful!
I'm sitting at my desk listening to to her mix when I came to this song and just had to stop everything I was doing and just watch and listen. This is a beautiful song. cheers
I've heard of Gillian Welch, but never listened to her before. I definitely will now. Those lyrics were amazing. Lovely performance too, thanks Madison and Danny!
Madison, the music you provide to us is an absolute blessing. I'm an old dude learning a new craft and I am so inspired musically by everything you do. This pairing with Danny Donnelly is perfect. You both capture the true essence of what was created in the original. Thank-you.
Great voice & accompaniment for this cover, at just the right cadence. And props for the use of the back wall reflecting sound for this outdoor recording-nicely done sound engineering!
Very very nice! And I hope people also seek out the original for comparison (especially considering the subject matter!). The genre partially stands on the shoulders of one big giant in Gillian Welch, and if this hits your heart strings then the original will destroy you. FWIW, I love both these artists. Madison is incredible live -- her solo stage presence is something to behold. Go see her!
That was beautiful! One of the songs by Gillian Welch that sometimes turns on in my head. This cover did it justice and then some. Glad to have discovered your work through recent collabo with Molly Tuttle. Look forward to hearing more!
Yes! Been listening to ton of your stuff lately, Madison. Thoroughly enjoying it. The "Live from Here" shows too. And Danny Donnelly has been formative to my own guitar playing and songwriting even though I've never met him. I got some of his songwriting workshops on mp3 years ago and listened to some of his music through some of the hardest parts of my faith struggles and fears. He's been a blessing to me.
ENTION ET DAMNAFER ! Remarquable de douceur et de tendresse. Quelle belle et subtile harmonie vocale !!! Le soutien mélodique de la seconde guitare est très gracieux. BRAVO!
Everything is free now That's what they say Everything I ever done Gotta give it away Someone hit the big score They figured it out That we're gonna do it anyway Even if doesn't pay I can get a tip jar Gas up the car And try to make a little change Down at the bar Or I can get a straight job I've done it before I never minded working hard It's who I'm working for (Chorus) Every day I wake up Hummin' a song But I don't need to run around I just stay home And sing a little love song My love, to myself If there's something that you want to hear You can sing it yourself 'Cause everything is free now That what I say No one's got to listen to The words in my head Someone hit the big score And I figured it out And I'm gonna do it anyway Even if doesn't pay

I heard the same thing you did. That completed the rendition really good.
There is no replacing the Queen & King of Americana music, Gillian & David. But you two seem to TRULY get this number. Thank you for this.

Y’all are awesome. Doing it justice.
As liquid as a gentle gravel stream flowing around rocks and catching and reflecting every shaft of sunlight and sending it back to me. Why am I so blessed?
It was all that good,
Such a difficult song done full justice. Takes me back to when the original was released and I played the whole record continually on repeat. Beautiful!
Seriously, every time you sing your first note I'm hooked, it's such full, rich, enchanting voice. Keep it up kid!
Absolutely beautiful, I'm in awe. So stunning, feels like I'm floating just listening. 😍

Thank-you.
You know he’s feeling the music when he’s involuntarily lifting his leg up. Sounds amazing! Great job by both of you!!!
I saw that leg pump from "some spiritual place"... it Stole the show for me
Amazing... Amazing... Amazing.... Madison Cunningham. I love that no matter who you team up with it turns out unbelievable. ❤️
Great voice & accompaniment for this cover, at just the right cadence. And props for the use of the back wall reflecting sound for this outdoor recording-nicely done sound engineering!
A really nice version of the Gillian Welch classic. You both definitely got to the heart of the song.
Gillian's music is a perfect fit for you. Always loved this one. ⚘️✌️

Nice floating camera work.....suits such a tender performance.

Amazing and so beautiful 😊❤️🌹🎶🎶🎶
Thanks for this beautiful performance. Very few people cover Gillian Welch, and even fewer do her work justice.
Another mesmerizing cover. You are a master. Play on, Madison!!

I love this version and I love ur music. Thank you so much for this
Beautiful
Oh how beautiful!
my guitar don't sound like that even when I'm holding it close to my ear
... and she does it in the garden with a perfect sounding voice and all!
Beautiful playing/singing but I’m digging that fusion of the Yamaha and the Martin. Goodness
Awesome Singing By Madison & Danny

Perfect... You did tell it true. I am at 1:38... let's listen to it all.
Are you in a ghost town?! How the hell did you film outside this long without traffic/aeroplane noises.?!?.?!😆
Sounds fantastic 👍
Dang, good job
うんいい曲だ!哀愁を感じる。
Nice Harmony Danny.
Wow.
does anyone know the name of these microphones? :)
Great performance!
Sad commentary on the music industry though...
Everything is free now
That's what they say
Everything I ever done
Gotta give it away
Someone hit the big score
They figured it out
That we're gonna do it anyway
Even if doesn't pay
I can get a tip jar
Gas up the car
And try to make a little change
Down at the bar
Or I can get a straight job
I've done it before
I never minded working hard
It's who I'm working for
(Chorus)
Every day I wake up
Hummin' a song
But I don't need to run around
I just stay home
And sing a little love song
My love, to myself
If there's something that you want to hear
You can sing it yourself
'Cause everything is free now
That what I say
No one's got to listen to
The words in my head
Someone hit the big score
And I figured it out
And I'm gonna do it anyway
Even if doesn't pay

Uncle Zone
Levitating....like his left leg. Amazing tension..
that’s sounds like an amazing critical viewpoint on world economic forum “you own nothing, but will be happy”
I like your version better than Welch and Rawlings. And I LOVE theirs.
Wow. Like she's playing with Nick Drake...
Perfect. No notes.
Beautiful
