Lava bed national monument is one I've visited several times. Located in Northern California next to Oregon. It has lots of lava tube caves including an ice cave it's also the site of the Modoc war with a trail through the site of the stand off. Just outside of the monument is Tule lake national wildlife refuse. Around the headquarters is large group of lava tubes with a ring road and parking at each cave. They do have camping and day use areas. It's a great place for the whole family.
You mentioned Voyagers National Park Our Island was Larkin Island it was ours for 70 yrs until we sold it the the Government for the National Park and believe me we didn't want to sell it. We had a small cabin 12 X 16 and we used it every summer until we sold it in 1979. It wasn't our choice but I'm glad everyone can enjoy it now. The last time I was there was in 1981. You mentioned the long drive and yes it was 9 hrs from MPLS. Then the last 4 miles was a winding road to Bergrens Whispering Pines Resort where we would put our boat in to get to the Island. We loved it.
One of my favorites with so much diversity - great scenic drive, mountains, alpine lakes, a cave to explore, wildlife and bristlecone pines!! And the stars at night are amazing too. It was so quiet when I was there. A very underrated park but one that has a lot of beauty.
Awesome!! What Overland Ventures commented. So easy to absorb the information. Just a fantastic, informative video. Really glad I found RV Miles!! Be safe!
Once again you produce a video with quality information and great personal stories. You are wonderful RUclips professionals. Thank you for taking the time to share with all of us. I just finished the weekly news video and decide to jump into this one. I never post but now I’m making my third post on your videos. I certainly hope this supports your algorithm and increases your subscribers and income. You deserve it and others need to see your content! Your heartfelt conversations are thoughtful, and real. Thanks again for letting us into your lives and sharing your knowledge! LOVE IT! I hope we see you out on the road some time. Blessings.
Hey kids, very nice video brings back so many memories of Carl's bad caverns when I was a kid your oldest sons age my family made it there to the caverns was awesome to see, never forget those huge stalagmites as we walk down the trail in there, God Bless you kids. Thanks, Gary
Great video! We have been to many of the places you mentioned and those were some of our favorite National Parks. Thanks for giving some more ideas of others to visit. Chris and Barbara
Oh my gosh Jason and Abby! All of these parks seem really nice. I would love to go to that one in North Dakota. That you mentioned. All of them look very very nice and fun to hike and it walk. Thank you Jason and Abby for this video.
Isle Royale National Park is a beautiful park for hikers. Accessible from Michigan's Upper Peninsula towns of Houghton or Copper Harbor, by boat, the park is a great place to see moose and an occasional wolf, as both populations inhabit the island. To see most of the island requires a hike in it's rocky trails or a canoe. There is a lodge at Rock Harbor but other areas require tent camping at remote sites accessible only by hiking. It is one of the most beautiful parks I have ever visited.
Thank you for a great video. Any more information on the quiet places to go will be wonderful. Traveling on my own with a brain injury can be very tiring and overwhelming. Love all your videos 🥰
Thank you for the inspiration! We have 10 days at a time for a vacation in our motorhome and I'd love to go to all of those! But it takes 2 days from Ohio to get out West, so maybe MN this year!! All 8 parks look great! I like your videos - just found today!! 😊
Debbie, Voyageurs in MN is such a great park, you would not regret taking a trip there this year! Thanks so much for watching and for subscribing. We are glad to have you here! - Abby
Another great video guys. You always seem to put out content that serves the RV community so well. Your efforts are evident and appreciated. Thx guys. Safe travels. bg
I have been to several parks on this list as a child. Looking forward to heading west from Georgia next year to revisit some of them. RV Miles is my favorite, thanks for all you do.
I know this is an older video, but I was on a road trip myself when it aired. I really was impressed by Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site and Homestead National Monument on my trip.
A few other great yet less popular paces I've been to are Craters of the Moon and Capitol Reef. We also spent a few hours looking around Minidonka National Historic site which was very interesting and we didn't see another soul. So many great NPS sites in our great country.
Great Basin National Park and Scottsbluff National Monument are both really nice and not crowded. Both are a little off the beaten path but worth the extra effort.
Great video! I'd love to see a companion video to this of where to stay, especially BLM/boondocking, around each NP you visited. Thanks for the great content!
Mesa Verde snd Teddy Roosevelt NP were great. Also Canyonlands was spectacular. Look forward to visiting some of the others you mentioned. See you on the road!
It is somewhat surprising we have not met at a park. TRNP, Wind Cave/Custer (using the back road connection), all of New México/Colorado can provide years of vacation/trips. I have "preached" about going where the crowds are not. add Grand Staircase Escalante, The Salinas Pueblo Missions, Hovenweep and other small sites near Mesa Verde. This was a very nice presentation.
Great suggestions! I just got back from a trip to Wind Cave and Badlands NP. There were some people, but not enough to make it unpleasant. We had a great time!
Thank you for the info! My wife and I can't hik e much but will still enjoy the scenery. I wonder which of these mentioned parks do not have camping for RVs. Havagudun y"all.
We can always count on you for great information and content. Thanks! On a side note: my small town in central Wisconsin’s Post Office attendant told me last week she has been processing Passports at a hectic pace, both new and renewals. Maybe a sign that people anticipate traveling outside USA soon?
Appreciate the comment! There are a lot of people itching to book international travel and we look forward to seeing that industry bounce back in the future.
I have been to most of these places, too. You're right! Of course, I also visited Acadia National Park in autumn. The best fall colors and ocean scenery I have seen. I wrote a song about Acadia "The Land of The First Sunrise"
We really enjoyed the area around Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Stayed in Medora and went to the outdoor theater and also the one man Theodore Roosevelt show.
I loved Joshua Tree. The Mastadon Peak trail is awesome, not too difficult but you end up on top of a mountain. Also Gila Cliff Dwellings is a fantastic experience. The trip there up twisty mountain roads is beautifully terrifying. Lots of free camping in the area also. I wouldn’t drive a big rig up there though. Some of the blind curves are no place for a 40’ class A.
I absolutely loved visiting Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve in Idaho. Why it’s not a national park, I don’t know. The land is from ancient volcanoes and it is so worth the drive.
Craters has been on our short list ever since we did an episode for our America’s National Parks Podcast on the park and how it was used to train for the moon landing. So cool!
Thank you for this. I enjoy visiting places with the fewest amount of humans as possible. One quick question, #6 & #7 both said 178th visited NP. Was it a tie?
Quick question I just heard manufacturers have sent out emails to all dealerships stating that as of yesterday they will no longer do price protection on their units.
New subscriber after viewing your very informative video on Full Time Freedom Week - was wondering if you could shed some light on the Congaree National Park in SC? Have you visited this park? If yes, do you recommend doing so and what other sights did you take in while in this area? Your additional insight is deeply appreciated & thanks in advance!
Welcome and thanks for joining us during the FTFW event. We were just in Congaree National Park this spring, and have an RV Miles Podcast episode available recapping our time there. It was a one day trip for us, but we had a great time in the park. I've linked to the episode which you can watch here on RUclips (we also share the campground we stayed at during our visit), or you can find episode 195 on any podcast app (like Apple, Google, Stitcher, Spotify, Amazon Music, etc). ruclips.net/video/scTdoLKRFmw/видео.html
These really are some of our most loved parks, places we can't wait to visit again. We hope you get to make it to 1, 2, 3, 4 or all 8 as you travel. Be well!
This was great! I’ve been to a few of these parks and agree that they are truly our best kept secrets! Now I want to visit the parks you mentioned that I’ve never seen.
A heads up, you recently talked about a grill by Outback Grills, I actually bought one and they advertise one thing and send another. Shipping is outrageous too. Thought it might be worth it till it doesn’t include what they show. Still working on a resolution, but be careful. Glad you didn’t pay for it.
I’m not sure what qualifies a park to be a national park but we don’t have any in New York. Theodore Roosevelt was camping in the Adirondacks when he heard of President McKinley’s assassination and then traveled to Buffalo to be sworn in as President. Plus he was Governor of New York. Did he consider making the Adirondacks a national park? Did someone prevent him from doing that?
Need a petition, group, or something to get bison removed from the Grand Canyon National Park. Placing these bison in this environment was a mistake. Imagine that, government making a mistake. LoL
Welcome to a new RV Miles video all about visiting NPS sites while avoiding crowds. Join us for the live chat, or drop a comment after the video!

Great story about the 800 year old corncob. Good reminder that even organic material may not readily decompose. Pack it in, pack it out.
This is really well done. Great info, pacing and your wife seems like a seasoned on-air pro. Keep'm coming and we'll keep watching.
RV Miles is my favorite channel. you have more information and news than ANY other channel. Your focus is to give information not try to be :Cute".
Is it ok if I consider Jason “cute”? 😉 -Abby
Great Basin National Park! I love that place.

Love this! We have been to all of these except Voyagers…now that is going on next year’s plan! 👍
It’s a great park. You’ll love it!
Thank you guys! Very informative

Great list, I've been to a few of those but will add more to my list. Very helpful and informative video, thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks again guys! Consider also the Chiricahua National Monument and Cochise Stronghold National Monument. We live just outside the latter.
We will and we hope to visit them both someday!
Where is Focus Stronghold National Monument? Neither Google nor Google Maps can find it. thanks!
@@movingforwarddespiteeverything I'm so sorry, it was a typo, it is Cochise stronghold.
@@MarkSpencerAZ , thanks!
Great suggestions. Thanks!
👍🏼
Thanks! This was very helpful.
Thank you for the recommendations.

We appreciate the comment, Cindy! Thanks so much for watching and have a great time out west. -Abby
Great recommendations!!!
Wonderful list. I wish I was a hiker so I could see some of those areas. But sometimes s just looking up is great.
Many of these parks are also great for looking up, taking a drive, and enjoying a boat ride. Hope you get to visit one in the future! -Abby
Cool video. Thanks for sharing. Travel safe.
Thanks, you too!
Very helpful for our summer trip, thank you!
Have fun!

Hit Carlsbad and Guadalupe Nat. parks last fall and loved them both. Hope to do Masa Verde and Gila this year
All excellent parks. Hope that trip happens for you. 👍🏼

Chaco Culture National Historic Park in NM is a gem, but a long way from anywhere. You have to earn a visit to Chaco Canyon.
Great suggestions! I just got back from a trip to Wind Cave and Badlands NP. There were some people, but not enough to make it unpleasant. We had a great time!
Really nice video. Sound was much better more balanced between you. Abby has a lovely voice.
Thanks for the feedback and kind comment! -Abby
All of my favorite parks! I live in El Paso so I spend a lot of time at Gila, Guadalupe, Carlsbad and of course, White Sands!
How awesome to have such close access to these amazing places.
Mammoth Cave has beautiful hiking with an abundance of wildlife
Nice video. Thank you.
White Sands and Roswell are in the neighborhood of Carlsbad Caverns too. All in SE NM
Wonderful video! Thank you.

I loved Theodore Roosevelt National Park mostly for its wildlife. Medora had great places to eat meals and ice cream products
We too had some really amazing wildlife encounters while there.
I wish I had known about the "best for last" program in North Dakota a few years ago. It was my 49th state! Missouri ended up being my 50th state.
I have been to most of these places, too. You're right! Of course, I also visited Acadia National Park in autumn. The best fall colors and ocean scenery I have seen. I wrote a song about Acadia "The Land of The First Sunrise"

One of our favorites is Natural Bridges National Monument in Utah, incredible geology and hiking like all of Utah's parks, but almost no one goes!
So cool!

Cool! Only thing is that everyone is going to flock there! LOL!! Aloha!
Thank you for this. I enjoy visiting places with the fewest amount of humans as possible. One quick question, #6 & #7 both said 178th visited NP. Was it a tie?
I would add Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument and Chiricahua NM, both in far southern Arizona.
Two parks we’ve been wanting to get to but been unable to make it work. Great suggestions!
Quick question I just heard manufacturers have sent out emails to all dealerships stating that as of yesterday they will no longer do price protection on their units.

Where is located this Nacional park 🤔 it looks great
Gold Butte Nevada. Incredible place.
Beautiful
This was great! I’ve been to a few of these parks and agree that they are truly our best kept secrets! Now I want to visit the parks you mentioned that I’ve never seen.
After putting this together, I told Jason and I feel so drawn to New Mexico and we should try to return soon, especially to Gila Cliff Dwellings.

Let's go!!
North Dakota is the best of the last! Theodore Roosevelt Park is a hidden gem gods creation and beauty
Be Blessed
Colorado National Monument!
National Monuments are the best. Services are typically minimal which keep the convenience seeking hoards away.
Death valley national park the biggest national park in Lower 48 to get a big national park experience without the crowd. (Summer visit)
I actually want to visit each
They are all great parks, and which every one you pick first, you won't be disappointed.
Isle Royal?
That opening shot with fire crews hiking 👍👍

Very Cool! 😎
Oh brilliant tell people where to go less crowded
We thought it was brilliant too. ✌🏼
Your wife is professional. I think she will take over.
Are some of these possibly have some BLM lands to boon dock on as well? Thanks for all of your great info, it is very appreciated!
To add to Jason’s great list: The San Juan National Forest is near Mesa Verde and there is some dispersed camping there.
I love the national parks, I just wish they were more dog friendly on the trails.
Need a petition, group, or something to get bison removed from the Grand Canyon National Park. Placing these bison in this environment was a mistake. Imagine that, government making a mistake. LoL
