@@earthhuman5448 I still listen to him almost every night before I fall asleep. He has such a large repertoire it is never boring. Most recently he and Chet Baker playing My Funny Valentine. Amazing musicians.
A master of small group or big band. Loved him from the first note I ever heard. In the 50's Playboy mag released a double LP of the best Jazzers of that day. I was about 12 when I got to listen to this and did so over and over again. I heard so many greats there for the first time that I have followed the rest of my life. Thank you Playboy, you gave me my lifes work in music.

Just watching Gerry play is a delight. He's so expressive and physical it matches the tone of whatever he's playing.
Swingin’! Excellent.
Started listening to this extremely talented musician in the early 50s and still loving his work in 2018.
agreed. I saw this band at the Nice jazz festival around this time. Magic.
I found him last week. I don't know anything about jazz, but this guys playing...and his band.....wow, cuts right to core of my being. Gold.

Was ist das für ein Saxofon?
Surely a band as brilliant as this deserve a better recording, the balance of this recording is exacerable, wooly and soloists not forward.
Excelente¡
Something for Lisa Simpson to aspire.
