It's a long one, sorry, no way around that. In 2019 during a Holiday show practice (before anything was being recorded by the big expensive cameras), Wendy was told to go through a tunnel and come down the stairs at the end. The tunnel was dark and the stage was dark when she got to the end of the tunnel. Because it was only a practice run, THE STAIRS WERE NOT IN PLACE! But because it was dark, she could not see that they were not there! She stepped into empty space, fell about eight feet or so (somewhere around there) and landed on a hard stage at an awkward angle. Apparently it was a few minutes before Wendy was found unconscious by Mamamoo member Solar (THANK YOU, Solar!!)! There are reports that Wendy had a broken hip, and other reports that it was actually her pelvic bone that broke (which is the FAR more serious break because it literally could have paralyzed her for life from the waste down of it broke in a really bad spot). One of her wrists was broken but that would be the least-serious injury. Even worse than the hip/ pelvic break, one of her cheekbones was broken. Wendy could have been blinded in that eye (the optical stuff is SENSITIVE and there are HUNDREDS of nerves around the eye socket on every Human). There was a chance she would never be able to sing again because if the cheek bone did not go back together like it was supposed to, the vibration would have hurt her just in a speaking voice, let alone singing. To make sure the cheekbone would knit together properly, the doctors wired her jaw closed. Wendy did finally come back (obviously) but it took her more than a year to do so (I do not blame her at all for taking so long! If it took even longer, I also would never complain; I am just SO VERY GLAD that she came back at all! She could have retired from the stage and decided to write songs instead...). IF it really was her Pelvis that was broken, she actually would have had to learn to walk all over again which could be part of what took so long. Plus, whether 'just' the hip or if it was the pelvic bone, she also had to get back into shape for dancing, and singing WHIILE dancing, the entire thing! Like having to go all the way back through her training years all over again! Just out of curiosity, I would like to know exactly what was broken. But of course it's really not my business; all we can do is guess because it is her own private medical information. When she did make her grand comeback, this song and that mini-album is what she came back with. It talks about being open and warm and loving. She even has Seulgi on one song, called 'Best Friend'. Wendy absolutely is an Angel, seemingly she does not have a 'mean' bone in her body.
@@shaunpierce4174 She was in rehearsals for SBS Song Festival in December 2019 and had been told by a staff where to go at a certain point that there would be stairs there, and there were no stairs in place so she stepped into a hole essentially and fell directly like 10ft or something like that, with no preparation/expectation whatsoever. She fell and received fractures to her pelvis, face and wrist amongst her injuries. Also from what I understand, she was found by Solar of Mamamoo who stayed with her to the hospital. She had to undergo an extensive recovery period for a year including surgery, etc. I fell down the Red Velvet rabbit hole not long after this happened with no clue at all, fell in love with Wendy immediately and when I googled to learn about my bias the first results were about her injury and accident. To be honest, although they said she would recover, I was not sure if she would be able to return to being an idol - facial fracturs and pelvic fractures... what if she was not able to return to the activities required? What if her voice was different or she found it too painful to sing or dance? There were so many questions and worries. Then she came back with this album.
Just when I think this MV isn't going to make me cry this time, I found myself tearing up again at the end. Usually get I get started at the "Just want to thank you for believing in me" ah. She is ethereal.
