When I first started playing in the late 90s the Bottelsen and Laserdarts were all the ones behind the glass counter with the high price tags, and yeah…knurling galore. Knurling hasn’t aged well in my eyes vs the classic multi ring. They’re like the bell bottom jeans of dart design. I suppose I would throw them if I had to pick between that and a overdressed Shot! dart though.
Good comment. I agree. I'd take knurl over most any set of Shot darts. The Shot darts are a bit more "pretty" but I'd never play with something like that
Yea I'm a bugga for buying nice looking darts at mo I'm slowly trying to get the target Carrera c series got the c13 c12 c4 c3 soo far long way to go but some collect expensive paintings ect. so well i like the look of some and can't help it elysians next lol i wish 🎯👍
It was throwing a friend’s knurl darts that adjusted my next purchase. More because of weight but saw I threw well with knurl darts. They grip nicely. I actually use $13 knurl 6.3 width darts as my soft tip darts. Love them. I love the blue in these darts. Not much of a fan on the yellow stem flight combo in color only. But absolutely love using them. Hard to imagine the time and machinery used to knurl the points. Added cost that’s just not needed. Great video as always. By the way, the gladiator board looks great. It would be nice to get a call out on the board to note how much usage it’s had.
Beautiful looking set of darts. Nice to see a speciality point on a regular player set of darts - I would like to see more of this. I understand your comments on the knurl grip. I got a set of Bulls V8 Diamond and they were really grippy to start but after a while they were like just a regular knurled dart. Great review 🎯1️⃣8️⃣0️⃣
Good video. I liked your explanation as well. A very fair video considering your views which is good to see. My gripe with those ones is you'll scratch the blue to death after prolonged use. They got you on that one as well. 🙂 I do like his original ones with the blue bars though. My reason for liking knurls is one of my earliest sets of good darts were some Harrows Eric Bristows (edit: forgot the 26 gram bit 🤪) with a small knurl at the back. That told me where to put my forefinger and thumb. I had some 24 gram ones as well which I didn't seem to throw as well for some reason.
So, I will start saying that i don't like knurled darts at all, but I respect thornton sticking to that for all this time, he was born with it and he doesn't want to change, maybe he would play better with a multi ring darts, but hey, works for him, the darts look great and for 8 dollars, hell of a deal
NICE DARTS! I have always like knurled darts. Would like to pick up a set for nostalgia reasons. Just recently I did pick up a set of hammer heads ,and they look like the original ones of the 80"s. I truly enjoy you comment . The condor flights are a little much with the neon yellow. clear would have worked better in my opinion. But will enjoy this weeks video. NOSTALGIA! ALL THE BEST
Enjoyed the review but not a style for me, the only dartsI have with knurl are a set of Bristows with a short section at the rear ( Stuart Kellet RD were similar )
For my opinion: even if you live rear or mit grip: try the Target Nastri 02 in 24 or 26 grams : these darts are a real dream for a darts player. the more you grip to the front, the better you will hit.
Not a huge fan of knurled darts and one piece flights and shafts but I guess it really comes down to what you're comfortable with. Nice darts though! I have some expensive darts but my best games are with crappy 80% tungsten Halex darts from Walmart that I payed less than 30 bucks Canadian.
@@laurensdebrabanteryou are right these are the V2 seniors Champion edition it says so on the flights and these are the cobalt blue ....I've bought the same from red dragon and have received them they are exactly the same
Great review as always. Gotta say I would change out the points right away. I don’t care for knurl on the point and I don’t like silver points anyway. I saw other comments about the clear yellow Condor stem/flight combo. I agree with everyone, those simply don’t go well with this barrel at all. Too much color contrast. Knurl doesn’t bother me all that much. I can take it or leave it.
I'm so on the fence about knurl... I throw some of my best darts with knurled sets, but I don't enjoy throwing them. Not enough fun in it, if that makes sense? One of my absolute favorite knurled sets is a soft tip barrel I picked up from dartscorner for like $9, absolute joy to throw & I knock them out of the park in bar leagues.
He is 100% telling the truth about darts here in America. Dart Shoppes get away with charging 100, 120, even 160 dollars for some cheap ugly no brand barrels. We also have Bottelsen, over priced basic darts. Then to add to the story...there is always that guy who thinks he is the "MAN" because he throwing some $1xx.00 darts. I do not like that guy.
There are a TON of American players that determine how "good" their darts are by how much they cost. Then when you tell them that they got scammed on their Silver Widows and that they're nothing more than $16 darts they get mad at ME. It's baffling.
I have an old silver set. They fly nicely to be fair - but the knurling is fairly irrelevant as Robert grips right at the back on those small rings. The rest of the grip could be anything really!
The setup with the condors wasn't so nice in my opinion, the colors bite each other (a darker yellow maybe better - Ukraine Style). But the barrel is very nice. As always, a good review, thank you.
Well another good vid just don't like knurled darts reminds me of when i was a kid 40 odd years ago but saying that i mean the look of them i ain't ffs chucked thrown lobed a knurled dart since then and now i gona buy a cheap set from local dart shop i lucky 5 min walk called as pro sports in shefford uk hope i allowed to say that but a good local shop and i can prob get a set not them but something for about a tenna prob brass tho lol
I cant believe the cost of darts in the USA 🤑Especially considering the potential. I think your missing an opportunity not opening your own dart store and massively undercutting the competition. With your RUclips subscriber base I bet any amount of UK or dutch stores would be willing to support you if you reached out to them...

I agree with you on the American dart culture here, knurled darts and movable points.

Hell yes 👌 I absolutely love knurl ! I’ve been looking at the DARTADART - Orion for about a month now. They look very useable.
Datadart makes some great stuff.

Thanks. There are some knurled darts that get a pass. The Bristow's and the old Harrows Magnums are definitely two great sets
Glad you like them dude. And they really came out looking good with both setups.

Really nice darts, thanks for review

Oh you have review of these 😁👍🏻
Another good video. Can you give us a heads up the next time Red Dragon (or anybody really) is doing the mystery box special?

I threw one of my all time greatest games with a set of $14 darts that I got from A180 Darts back in the day.
Are these darts the seniors world champions cobalt SE or the 2017 the thorn edition? Really nice looking dart! Love the grip and the colour!
These are the first blue version that came out

Sorry I'm a lover of knurled darts I got the blue n white Thornton darts I love them. But my favourite are the knurled bristows

Overall knurl is just too slippery. Plus it reminds me of the free darts that come with the awful dartboards
Great review, I think Robert Thornton uses 26g 🎯
I sense a Darts Clearance review incoming 👀

No, they're really rigid.

Always a guy at the bar bragging about his 140$ knurled Hammerheads 😂…and you can’t tell them things have changed since 1994
Nope. Usually the most stubborn darts player there is. That same guy also gets pissed off if you point him too much 😂
Maybe remove the paint?
