Just thought I would add something that I just read. I always believe that you used distilled water when mixing coolant. However, a couple posts, first time I've ever heard this, is that it's actually BEST to use SOFT WATER instead of distilled. The reason being is that the process of making distilled water leaves the water unstable - it's missing an electron. Because of that imbalance the water is going to attack the metal in comes in contact with (inside your radiator) to try to get that electron back, and get into balance again. Soft water is basically the same as distilled water, but the process to get soft water keeps the water ion's balanced by replacing them with sodium ions. Since the water is in a stable state, it won't be trying to steal these electrons from the metal in your car.

Can you please post the website that has the information about this? This is very interesting.

So realistically if I had no access to distilled water to mix coolant with I’m able to use purified water?

Yes you can also use purified water(not recommended), but only if you don't have access to distilled water. The reason for using distilled water is that there are no minerals in the water. The minerals in water will cause corrosion inside your engine's cooling system.
Just so you know that purified water does have minerals in it, but a lot less than tap water.
