The lock structure composes of a boat chamber of 50 meters length with the bottom width of 17 meters and the top width of 37.74 meters with side slopes of 1:1.5. There are 2 gates (each with 2 half gates) on each side of the chamber. Each half gate has a dimension of 7.25*5.11 meters.
Both the Damnoen Saduak Canal and Bang Nok Khwaek are located within Damnoen Saduak Operation and Maintenance Project. This irrigation project covers the area southward of the Damnoen Saduak Canal to the salt water protection dike. Total project area is 25,210 hectares while the irrigated area is 20,080 hectares. The project area covers 3 provinces; Ratchaburi, Samut Songkhram, and Samut Sakhon.
Bang Nok Khwaek Lock was constructed at the time of rehabilitation of Damnoen Sa Duak Canal in order to provided control of water level in the canal and allowing boats to travel pass the gates. Construction of the lock was completed in 1904 and becomes 119 years old in 2023. The lock is still
fully functional with original parts except for small electric motors installed to assist operating of gears for opening and closing of gates. Boats passing through Damnoen Saduak Lock decreased from hundreds per day in the early days to only a few. The control of water level now is by operating of the
    Regulator Gate.
