BURR OAK mark a monolithic moment in their sonic journey with the release of their debut album, SOMEWHERE WE BELONG, which stands as the crown jewel of the two member’s careers as solo artists and as a duo alike. Packed with a mammoth 18 tracks that span the full breadth of the Neurofunk genre, SOMEWHERE WE BELONG sees BURR OAK deliver a definitive work set to cement itself well within the history of the genre.
BURR OAK’s own story is mirrored in the stories of their twin cowboy personas, Scruggs and Sonny Jim, whose escapades are expressed throughout the album’s tracklist and the tales that accompany it. Much like these two inseparable wanderers, BURR OAK’s two members, Niko and Julien, began their careers as solo artists before joining together to embark on their shared quest as BURR OAK. Longtime fans of Neurofunk will recognize each by their many other monikers. Niko has produced and performed variously as a member of the French Drum & Bass trio Signs, as half of the duo Cecil Hotel, and under his solo alias Opsen throughout his long career devoted to the pursuit of Drum & Bass’ most technical edge. By contrast, Julien’s journey under his solo alias The Clamps has seen him champion both cinematic soundscapes and the genre’s most extreme fringes, merging beauty and brutality within his music in equal measure.
If this wasn’t a colorful palette of a career enough, they are also running another project with the also Toulouse based SKS - “Forum” which is also a heavyweight drum and bass project with a jungle/rave/oldschool twist. And to add a cherry on the top Julien runs Third Colony with Yan, an extravagant IDM/downtempo project.
As BURR OAK, these two prolific artists intertwine their sounds in an inexorable musical lattice, presenting a unified sonic profile that is more than the sum of its parts. This stylistic synergy thrives amidst SOMEWHERE WE BELONG, which details the story of BURR OAK both in fiction and as the producers they are today. The album’s title speaks to this, not only for the duo’s cowboy characters but for Niko & Julien as well. Beneath the branches of the BURR OAK, these titans of Neurofunk have truly found somewhere they belong.

seems ai-generated to me. but as long as it conveys the story I'm down for it, but that means I can't comment on the visuals tho
@@leafamphii. you can tho. the cinimatograpgy whas a human hand. looks like they took the previous image and ran it back threw the generator. but they would do something to it, like pan down or zoom in, at diferent rates and speeds. and this changed the image. the best example is at 02:58 . there is a human hand on this art. AI is just a new tool.

I've watched ALL of the Alien movies ...and this 1 video visualizer .. makes me doubt any of their worth ...
Also, ... Why is so much modern EDM / DNB , etc .. about how much static noises can be loaded into a track?? My tweeters are not okay with all this. HiFi and EDM is a real struggle .( -6db treble )

Instead of heeding some feedback and engineering the music to be less harsh in the first place.
Let's be honest.. not ALL tracks are mixed and mastered the same.. Some.. are just artistically made to be harsh.. Fair.
I dont feel the same way about Noisia.. so maybe I'll just stick to what I find sounds better.. bu that means less play time to new audiences.

@@psyphonyxaudio it is true though, I think its reasonable or valid to heed feedback to de-ess tracks or de-ess the treble or shelve it down a few db. Good thing is we have our own eq control on our consumer playback systems but still. This one's definitely edgy on the highs and de-essing does solutions or wonders
And -6 db treble, that's almost like how Vinyl works, or even a cassette tape. You could almost re-publish or process again to that
Point is, this would sound glorious re-finalized or re-published to cassette or tape or vinyl plugin or processing, re-finalize

My intent is actually sharing it a lot more .. but in certain spaces where I'd LOVE to make more of an impact with this EDM / DNB style music.. I cannot because the ear is on another level. I mean.. I know Genelec, Focal, Adam, PMC, ATC, HEED, Amphion, Yamaha, ... ( NOT KRK** ) **lets be honest.. not all monitors are that great** .... Those brands do great for mixing.. so i am not sure why the treble is soo hot with this music style ..
(and .. HiFi Shows.. they do NOT let you adjust shit.. What you play is what you get )
