- We go in search of Melbourne's oldest pub, the Mitre Tavern, tucked away behind the tall buildings of Collins St in historic Bank Place. Dean and I are out to taste his favourite Scotch whiskey, Laphroaig 10.
The Mitre Tavern is an historic pub established in 1868 and remodelled in the Queen Anne style between 1900 and 1910. The "Mitre" was a popular 'bohemian' hangout for many of Australia's most prominent artists of the early twentieth century and is recognised by the National Trust of Australia.
The Mitre is a landmark watering hole for the city of Melbourne and one that should be on everyone's list for a drink in this historic old building.

Entertaining and informative, good way for viewers to get ideas on where to go
Thanks Jim! The Mitre is a really great old pub in a unique location that just oozes history. Apparently haunted too if you're into ghost hunting. Welcome to the channel!
Brilliant little pub
It is! It’s also one of the few buildings left in the city with its own ghost! Reputedly haunted by the ghost of Connie Waugh, a spurned mistress who hanged herself in the Tavern! I reckon I've drunk enough in there to start seeing ghosts ☺
AHH Melbourne before lockdowns......you can feel the spirit thru the screen.
Nice channel mate!
Thanks Justin, welcome aboard! Yeah it's been a bit hit-and-miss trying to get out of late, but things are looking up for 2022 and we've got some good stuff lined up. What side of the city are you from?
@@BarHumbug West
West. Lots of pubs, not many bars! *Trouble in Dreams* is a great cocktail spot if you make it in as far as Footscray
