[2019] Suijin Chen - Bagua Performances - 15th WWC @ Shanghai Wushu Worlds

  • Edited together Sujin Chen's first place and closing ceremony Bagua performances from the 15th WWC.
Tried to take the better angles from both performances, and the better music/commentary.
This is the talou (forms) division of the 15th WWC. Like most taolu, the focus here is on performance and martial expression, rather than combat. However, in application many bagua moves are actually throws/takedowns based on leverage and balance, so fluidity and rooting, which are on-display here are actually quite important.
If you're interested in pure fighting, checkout the Sanda division of the 15th WWC, where many of grappling and throwing movements of traditional Chinese Martial arts are used.

I love and respect her agility and precision, but Ill never understand why such amazing athletes only do these wushu forms and not the traditional forms or new unique forms without all of the skipping and running around seen in typical wushu forms. Of all the different BaGua stepping styles none of them are that running around in the high basin seen in all Wushu forms no matter the style. I know it's Chinese culture, but so are their fundamental traditional forms. I would love to see a classic BaGua Chen form done with her agility and confidence. And I know she could it.

Xiao ao jianghu, which is also the name of the movie the song's from, and the famous wuixa novel the movie was based on. The song name is often translated as Laughing in the Wind.
The movie's English title was Swordsman, but the novel series is often translated as The Smiling, Proud Wanderer, so you'll also find the song under all of these different names. Some more fun facts, Jet Li starred in Swordsman II, and Zhang Weili (the current UFC Straweight Champion) uses a version of the song for her entrance music.

National Socialist no she is a dancer. This is not Ba Gua this is dance. When China changed wushu to get into the Olympics they ruined it, no martial application’s just pleasing to the eye. I was in China last year I notice the Tai-Chi guys and girls were tall and skinny the same as a ballet dancer their training was done like a dancer (I.E. they are not required to go head to toe like I was) the muscle training was different more like ballet. If you wish to see real Ba Gua look up Ge Chun Yan and there is another teacher in Okinawa she can fight! in the documentary she says they taught us the moments but not the meaning so she went on her own to find the last masters of Wushu and got to the fighting aspect of it I will be training with her later this year.

Why do 75% of competitions get judged by people who literally cant do what they're judging. Judges should literally do an example performance in order to give a high scoring example and to prove they should be on the judge panel or else it's just some random trying to judge what they clearly don't know.

yes but concerning the unhelpful pisstake of the wrist technique shown at start of the video: done properly, which you aren't, the technique ENDS with the knife disarm on the wrist, it does not begin there... You first need to get opponent into off balance / vulnerable position. Yes, sure, if you pick a rock solid dude and tell him to hold a knife as hard as he can, and then try out of the blue try to whack the knife out his hand... then no. that doesn't work. But that is also not the technique, which could start by a number of means, including a parry to one side, a quick whack of even faint to the face, a distraction using a belt, whatever. get them off balance, get to a position where there is a kind of pivot/lever. same principle as aikido. the visible technique is only the last in a series of steps. if you miss those first steps, you will fail.

very good. but Jet Li does Bagua better, he is fast. Bagua is awesome, is like xing yi and taichi, similar circular movements, but taichi has larger circular movements so in comparison is a bit slower.

So I have a question......why did internal martial arts turn from this....ruclips.net/video/Nx9kKAhBzE4/видео.html
    ruclips.net/video/RvpMd1F0eS8/видео.html to that????
There is no internal to her moves......none..... So sad...oh well...

A world class beauty! I hope she finds better instructors that can help her turn her strength and coordination into something smoother and less "busy," as my high level teacher would say.

This is 2020 everything changing. I remember when doing a form you have to identify every stands, punch, block, offensive and defensive move, from move to move to me she was moving to fast.or this is 2020.
