Rick, would love to see you incorporate some investigation in your videos when you mention things like the club feeling smaller. Grab a ruler/caliper and I’m sure you could compare it to the clubs you have in the other room! Would be interested in seeing if the club is actually smaller from heel to toe.
He has a gc quad and doesn't even show strike location on irons or metalwoods when he talks about forgiveness, why would he make the effort of using a ruler or caliper!
@@jawide626Agreed, it’s a shame the lack of data on the HIT channel. Can’t even get things like Dynamic Loft, AoA, Face and Path… He doesn’t even need to speak to them. Just show it on the screen for a second.

I think you’re missing what Rick’s whole appeal is. He’s the Everyman - he’s the best golfer you know. Doesn’t take himself too seriously. It’s all vibe. That’s why he’s popular
I’m the opposite to you Rick, having full face wedges for me has helped my chipping and pitching no end, it actually gives me more confidence. Also deliberately hitting it out the toe on delicate chips without it rolling away because you do get a little more spin off them is honestly great.
Thank you! I think ALL clubs should be grooved across the face. My fairway wood and hybrid are. My driver has a smooth center and grooves everywhere else. Why not my irons and wedges? I’ve always found it silly that they don’t.
@@chefdannydesteli excacly, you can get callaway Jaws or Cleveleland zipcores for around 100 each club new. You'd probably get brand new SM9s aswell for the same price. Not sure who would buy these
Seems they've priced at the lower end of market standard. I think they'll struggle at that price point. Chuck another 30 quid in there and you can pick up a vokey sm10. Dont think there's anyone in their right mind that'll pick these before vokeys when there's only £30 in it.
That's really interesting. I find Full toe makes them look bigger to my eye. I've got a Jaws Raw full toe, and that definitely doesn't look smaller than my old Vokey's. I wasn't a fan of the overall look of full toe for ages, but it's definitely grown on me.
Takomo Skyforger wedges are $90 I wonder how those would compare since they're both direct to consumer brands. I have Takomo 301 irons and absolutely love them.
Well, between the major brands, the DTC brands, the DFC (Direct from China) brands and the component brands, there are darn near as many wedge selections as there are golf balls. It has gotten to the point where I find it hard to care when a new wedge comes out. Ya know, enough is enough already. BTW, I use component heads, they work just fine.
I like the full face grooves; I've been using the Callaway Mickelson wedges for years. Sadly, I'm wearing out the grooves and I'll need to replace them. Even sadder, these Vice wedges aren't available for left handed golfers like myself.
My pro shop was the first order in the world for the wedges and irons from vice. They actually are amazing clubs, I really like their “muscle back” irons. The wedges are comparable to hi toes
Rick, have you done a comparison of the top say half a dozen golf balls side by side - performance, durability, feel, cost etc? It would be good to see them rated together. Thanks for all your work, it really helps my game as well as the choices available and is really enjoyable.
Might not be a popular choice but try out the Bombtech 3 wedge set in volcano torched finish. Took my Cleveland wedges out for those and have zero complaints
I have bbf ferrules in a similar color, but banded. Never been a problem. My biggest complaint is that they didn’t offer darker or non reflective finishes on the heads. I can’t open a chrome wedge for fear of inviting the full power of the sun into my brain.
I have played Vice golfballs for 5yrs and love them for the price. $140 a wedge… maybe too much? Vice uppers maybe thinking a price point between Caley/Takomo/etc and Major brands?
I would love to see you review a set from Foreword Golf and their remote fitting they do with their irons. I think it’s very innovative and I myself am wanting to get fitted by them
Thing is vokeys are a little more, and since they're cast, the grooves will stay sharper for longer. So more proven and longer lasting for a little more money
Rick - I noticed in a recent video you were using a Vice ball! I am loving the Pro Plus, despite not being the target demographic. Would be interested to hear your thoughts on their ball lineup.
Really like the look of those, smart, no frills a seriously good looking wedge... The full face grooves are a product of the modern short game, using all areas of the club face for a variety of shots has become very popular, so full face grooves are in line with playing all the different types of short game shots. Unfortunately Rick has always seemed scared of wedges, dispite Dan Grieve trying to change Rick's fears. They seem a little pricey, but if they elevate your short game to greater heights, then I'm sure people will pay for that.
Rick, Ill take them off your hands. My daughter would love those as everything in her bag has to have color. Im with you on full groves its more distracting and harder to frame the ball where as a traditional look frames the ball perfectly.
I dont really get you saying the full groove wedges makes the face look smaller and harder to find the center of the face. If it looks smaller, isn't basically the entire face the center? It should make it easier and give more confidence.
I feel like this would have been more of a logical entry as they’re more of an accessory/ball brand thus far, wedges seems like a more niece product line that people are willing to mix it up on more
I wonder is the time you spend on those mats impacting on your shots on grass on courses? I always hate hitting of those mats as they never really feel right
I think Vice has nestled in where Nike dropped off, in terms of club design. Where Nike went balls to the walls with their colours, Vice seem to have nailed down a good combo of classy minimal club design with pops of bright colours.
Takomo Irons review coming soon? Would love to hear from someone not sponsored by them. Bought the Apex 2016 irons and have loved them since but looking to go for more of a blade/players iron but don't want to break the bank either.
I love vice (use the balls) wedges and irons look great (and I believe they feel great). But why would anybody pay those prices for a unproven brand? $100/wedge? That would probably convince me
it was not that the Titleist was bad it was that Rick came across in the video not the way he wished , everyone has a bad day and it should never have been released.
Did Rick use the Vice golf ball to test with???? Just asking as I thought he may have changed his game ball as in the Last Break 75 Rick was using the Vice golf ball.
I really like Vice but being around $150 isnt exactly a deal. their balls sell well because they are 30% less on cost than a premium ball. the wedges are about 10-15% less than MG4s or SM10s.. if they were about $110-120, then i would be on board.
Collin Morikowa said in a video that he changes his wedges once a month. I am not comparing myself to him. I am just saying if soft feel equates to no durability then premium wedges aren't something I want.
lol morikawa hits probably 500 balls a day 6 days a week with his wedges with 200 of them being out of a bunker AND he's a multimillionaire that could afford to do that IF he didn't get them for free.Top fuel dragsters change their engine every race doesn't mean you can't get a v8. For anyone on a budget, wedges are the only clubs you should splurge on a bit, they're the clubs that can save you the most strokes and after a full 18 they're 100% the clubs you used the most, yeah you use putter more but a good putter will putt well with a broomstick, putters are vanity clubs (still love my scotty though!).I got friends with 4/5 year old vokeys that still rip it back 20ft no problem
You make very good, but very obvious points. What gets more spin? Your buddy's 5 year old Vokeys or one year old Kirkland wedges? I don't know the answer. Vokeys look better for vanities sake, but which perform better? Then look at grips, years ago they lasted much longer than they do now. I'm just saying that many things today seem to have a built in shorter life span/ planned obsolescence.
I like that he’s using Taylormade balls, personally like those more, though think he should do a video testing a bunch of premium balls to find out what he actually should use
I really like Vice. I have bought hundreds of their balls. But I definitely wouldn’t say they are a “fraction of the price” … they’re a bit cheaper, but not by a ton.
Be great to see a video of a driver fitting, see the process and how you work with the fitters. A big brand like Titleist or someone would be excellent 👍🏻
Not paying that much money for a wedge. Especially not full face. But I think it’s about time golf give something back. Wedges should be no more than £110

The heads do look a bit small.
You know how you could tell if it’s the full face groves that make it look smaller or that it is? Measure them.
Full face grooves in a gap wedge are worthless. They are great in sand and lob wedge but how often are you actually opening up the face of your gap.
If the club was bad would you delete this video? Similar to the Titleist one?
