    Daniel Smith Lavender Watercolor. In this video, I mix this beautiful color with 19 other colors on my watercolor palette. I demonstrate the qualities of this semi-transparent, granulating, lightfast and professional grade watercolor paint. #lavender #danielsmith #watercolor
    Daniel Smith Lavender is a periwinkle blue hue. It is made from PW6 (Titanium White) + PV15 (Ultramarine Violet) + PB29 (Ultramarine Blue). It has the effect of neutralizing many other colors as you mix it with blues, reds, and yellows. It is great for adding shadows to your landscape paintings.

    Thank you for this video! I was interested in DS Lavender after hearing it is good for various mixes. Your three last swatches made me want it! I said aloud every color that I was hoping for, and they were just those. Those earth colors and Lavender together create that "distant hills/mountains" magic that I'm continuously chasing.

    I recently added this to my palette as well, along with Wisteria. I really enjoy the granulation it provides!

    Thanks, I love this color but I rarely use it because it stands out because of how opaque it is. But, mixed is lovely. Another great lesson

      I agree. I didn't really understand the benefit of this color until I started mixing it with the other colors on my palette. I find it especially useful in landscape paintings.

    I love this colour for skies, unmixed sometimes. Here in Western Australia it just hits a late afternoon sky.

    Thanks, Kris! I’ve been wanting DS Lavender…. but I just had to use my M Grahams and made my own pan of it. So pretty! Can’t wait to use it. Love the mixes you made.

    As a newbie, watching colors mix creates a WOWZIER moment for me! So much fun watching you experiment with colors on your palette. Now it's my turn to experiment, as I remember your tip # 2 --Practice! :-)

    Just saw this bc my bestie asked me to try & make a lavender without white. I made 5 pretty close, but both my daughter & friend chose the diluted PB19 + PV16. Obviously it can go from a strong/heavy but vibrant darker lavender to the pastel..which WE think looks better.
    Now, they want my to try mixing the more diluted, semi-transparent lavender with colors in my top palette . I spent Monday using up most of my PB33…first (and last) mulling experience, doing mixes. Also going to try nickel titanite yellow…a spring/summer favorite!

    I have this color and wisteria. I don't use either one very often, but the lavender seems to work beautifully in mixes. I'm surprised by this. Thanks for the scanned swatch sheet, a useful reference indeed.

      I have come to LOVE Lavender and use it a lot. I have also discovered that lots of other artists, that I admire, have it on their palettes. I hope you enjoy experimenting with it.

    Why not just put a white on ur pallette then? When the color u use is white and a pigment u already have a spot for.....why not just put white so u can use it to make soooo many other colors

    • @KrisDeBruineStudio
      @KrisDeBruineStudio  2 года назад +3

      I rarely use white....but I have found tons of uses for this Lavender color, so I put it on my palette as a convenience color. I do keep a tube of Titanium White in my supplies and occasionaly do mix it with other colors.
