    This album is an overlooked gem within the whole alternative/nu metal movement of the late 90's. Snot has more elements of hardcore punk and funk than a lot of contemporaries at the time. It sucks that Lynn Strait and his dog Dobbs passed away shortly after the recording of this album. Though he's no longer with us, Lynn Strait's legacy still lives on over 25 years after Get Some was released.

      Necrotic Nick- 100% agreed there. There was so much more to this band when it came down to the nu metal pack they were lumped into. There's always going to be that "what could have been" factor when I come back to this album/ band but I'm glad we at least one killer album and an awesome legacy with it. RIP Lynn.

    So glad you guys decided to review this one. This album had such an impact on me when i was growing up and getting into metal. They aged much better than most other nu metal too and i still find myself regularly revisiting them. They were definitely something special and on the verge of exploding. I'm amazed that jammin jon caught them live and got a hug from Lynn Strait after the set, such a fucking awesome little memory to have. Can't buy shit like that.

      Necrotic Nick- This album rarely left my CD player when I was a kid. Hell, I'm surprised my copy still plays at this point lol. I still wonder if they would have become the next big thing in metal but I guess we'll never know. I only wish I got to see them live but I'm glad I still have all the memories of jamming this album with a lot of friends. I'll take that.

    It’s crazy because I’ve been listening to this record non-stop for the last two months, didn’t expect my favorite death metal connoisseurs to give it some love! I’ve wasted way too much of my life pondering an alternate reality where Lynn could have lived long enough to drop that second album. Such a fucking shame, and all from a damn car accident when he was just driving home. RIP Lynn and Dobbs.

      Necrotic Nick- We had this planned for a retro review for awhile but it got pushed back since we had so much new stuff to cover for last year. I've been a fan of this band since I heard this and I'm honestly still a giant fan of this album. I think the potential for this band was huge and I feel like they would have kept evolving their sound. It's easy to call Snot nu metal but they had a lot of other influences they drew from which kept them interesting. It crushed me when Lynn died but I'm thankful we at least have what we have with him on it.

    Gonna have to check this out. Probably haven't given this one a spin since the 90s. My biggest memory of this album actually revolves around the game Monster Rancher. One day I was playing it and I had to load a CD to create my monster. My buddy Brian's copy of Get Some was right on top of the console so in it went. The monster created after inserting the CD was a blue cube with a face that would occasionally extend out of the side like those water tentacles in The Abyss. So my memory of this album right now is of a blue cube shaped monster. 🤣

    Being honest, I’ve been passing by this album over and over in my Spotify. The cover made me think it was just some goofy forgotten band. I’ve actually been getting back into Nu Metal so it’s interesting to see you guys reviewing it. Sad story behind the band tho, I’m thinking that finally listening to the album will make it even sadder but I’m excited for what I’ll hear.

    • @thrallsofmetal
      @thrallsofmetal Год назад +1

      Necrotic Nick- I mean, saying they're "goofy" and "forgotten" isn't entirely inaccurate but they're truly a hidden gem in my opinion. Most nu metal puts me off these days unless I had a really strong connection to it when I was younger but Snot was just flat out good. They brought more than just the standard nu metal tropes to their sound with that mix of funk and punk in there. It showed there was more to them but unfortunately we never really got to hear it.

They were pretty awesome and could fit in in a lot of different genres, nowadays nu metal is hard for me to stand mostly lol but there was a time that I was waaay too into it when I was a younger man. Hey! I have a suggestion for a retro review- Ripping Corpse: Dreaming with the dead- from 1991, that band was pretty cool, also a one and done. They had guitarist Erik Rutan ( Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal ) But ya I figured I would throw it out there haha! Alright, see yas on the next vid!🤘
