What to do if the neckline is not close to the body and is too large / How to fix it

Sometimes you like a thing so much that when you buy it you don’t notice the flaws. In general, the dress sits well on the figure, beautiful colors. Only later, when you put it on for the first time, it becomes clear that not everything is perfect, as we would like.
I have such a dress, the whole problem is in the neck, or rather two problems:
1) Firstly, the neckline does not fit the body, all the time the dress has to be pulled up and pulled down.
2) Secondly, the neckline slides off and the straps of the underwear are visible.
To fix this, it is necessary to remove excess fabric on the shoulder line and then reduce the neckline.
1 problem
I measured on myself how much it is necessary to reduce the line of the shoulders, it turned out 1 cm on each side. Ripped off the neckline.
- I marked a new shoulder line, stitched it, cut off the excess fabric and swept it over.
- On the facing, I also removed 1 cm from each side.
- I sewed a trim to the dress.
- Now the dress does not bulge and fits well to the body.
2 problem
To reduce the neck, I will use a white fabric.
But first you need to make a pattern. To do this, I connected the shoulder seams and folded the dress along the neckline, carefully straightening everything.
- I put a sheet of paper and drew a line of the neck to the folds. Up from this line I marked a mark of 1 cm, this is the height of the white bar. I also marked 1 cm down, this part will be under the neck.
- Where before, I will sew beads, for them I reduced the bar in front by 1.5 cm from each edge.
- I carved out two such details, one of them was reinforced with interlining. I connected both parts with the right sides inward and stitched the top seam.
- I sewed the elastic on one side of the bar and put 3 beads, then I sewed the elastic on the other side. That's how it happened.
- From the top edge I laid a line at a distance of 1 cm, in this place the bar will be attached to the dress. She swept the edge.
- The white blank is a separate item.
- I put it under the neck and stitched it.
After the alteration, the thing sits perfectly, the bar with beads, although small, has become the main highlight. But the most important thing is now there are no problems, I wear the dress with pleasure.
