Fantastic little workhorses and nimble woods exploring machines. I have a 94 that I use more often to do work than my 750 king quad, plus it doesn't tear up the yard with the rear differential lock/unlock mode
Put a lot of hours on one of these at a place I worked in the late 90s. It would carry/haul/tow during work hours, then often see off the clock riding on 900 acres..... being driven by several different teenagers. My Honda 300 was more fun when it came to play time, but that 2wd Bayou 300 was just as reliable IMHO.
I got one just like it. It didn't run, and had been wrecked. Super easy fix I put a new carb, new battery, and oil, spark plug, and air filter., and a 6 inch led light bar where the factory headlight goes
i picked up an 04 model today was pretty much a barn find it had sat more than it was run i got it for $1200 needs cleaned up and tuned up and needs one of the headlights otherwise it's in mint shape mechanically good shape

Have I understood this right, the lockable differential is only on the 2 wheel drive models?
Not an option if you have 4×4?

oh and it needed a clutch kit too which i had replaced the other day so now it's pretty much mechanically sound other than what i stated above lol

How do you lock and unlock the diff?
There's a little lever on the left side by the motor you just move up or down.
