The .hack series is severly underrated.
And it hurts..But hey! we get Last Recode and a more original gameplay and story (Bike Missions,Keyword-Generated Areas,Guild-Managing,Data Converting,which is signature of the .hack games)than SAO and Log Horizon,as a result,granting a bigger world than both SAO and Log Horizon

not really underrated,
It has better than average story
but average gameplay, and its getting really repetitive, the dungeon are ... really really boring, customize the bike and all is cool though
overall its a better than average game but not much
i really play this game for the story u know
even after 10 years has passed,this battle is still epic :')
My only regret is that I wished they used THIS version of Haseo vs. TriEdge scene in the actual game Rebirth. The graphics, the music, the intensity, and the extreme emotional depth.

I feel that some of the impact of the Tri-Edge scene in the game is lost. Maybe it's just due to animation and camera angle differences, but he seems like he's putting more effort or thought into blocking Haseo's attacks in this one. Or rather... he's focusing on Haseo more. In Rebirth, his movements seemed... more automated? Like his arm and blade were just moving into position on their own, rather than by any conscious effort or decision of Tri-Edge's. Also I miss the sort of aqua glow and after-image that he had.
well you gotta take into account the time difference. the cg in this movie are years in superiority to the game. so all the animations in the game are more clunky.
Even taking into account the technical difference in the CG's quality, the direction and choreography of the event are just so different. In the G.U. games there were plenty of events where characters conveyed forcefulness and extreme motion. Hell, Haseo alone in the same cutscene as Tri-Edge conveyed forcefulness and extreme motion to a significantly greater degree, but Tri-Edge did not look like he was putting in effort. It was like he was looking past, or even through Haseo.
Here, Tri-Edge is more clearly taking stances and putting focus and attention on Haseo. HE is moving his body. In the original depiction his body was practically moving on its own in the most efficient manner in contrast to Haseo who was lashing out without much thought or planning. It made Haseo feel smaller -- significantly outclassed -- and the after images really sold that feeling, like the game / program was reading Haseo's inputs and just automatically deflecting them. When Tri-Edge swung at Haseo, it was sort of lackadaisical. That feeling is gone here.

Oh, yeah, definitely. That's part of why I think the game cutscene depiction is better, it feels like it fits his character better. Basically the lifeless husk feels too alive in the movie.

There is a scene missing. In the original, Haseo pulls out his scythe and azura kite disintegrates the moment Haseo draws his weapon. Either way, still an awesome fight scene.
I noticed that too, but with the remastered not even being mentioned until at least the last six months.
I have all reason to believe this is actually footage from .hack//roots which is the literal prequel to .hack//G.U.
(unfortunately I don't own roots so I can't confirm)
But it's the only explanation why this was released in 2013 and is 720p, and missing the scene with the scythe; which mind you me, i do remember for sure

i dont think she ever really saw haseo romantically. i think she was more into ovan and saw haseo as a nephew or something. she was always taking care of him like a mother and child more than a romantic couple.

@@haseo1stform Some of her greeting card dialogues makes it clear she liked Ovan then grew to like Haseo after Ovan disappeared and he stuck around to support her. There are even hints that she kind of feels guilty about it.
Though yes, the manga just flat out ignores that, but that might be due to the fact that it was written at the same time the games were releasing. So anything not in the main story might not have been ready by the time the manga's plot was finalized.
I still say .hack is better then Sword Art Online, just seems to kiddy looking to me visual wise, .Hack looks beast and has a great story.
SAO had a cool premise cool, HAD, as in being trapped in a game and can actually die is an interesting one, especially if the author dive more into the psychological side of the story rather than the lovey dovey AsunaxKirito boring romance.
i've always thought that the short part when all the player were trapped in "The World" was interesting. Too bad SAO fucked it up.

What's really fucked.up.is that Shino was so crazy about Ovan that she was willing to actually do this and die for his sake when it really meant nothing much to begin with. Haseo was a boy with a crush but had to deal with the fallout of Shino hating him for saving her. It was fucked up man. Should retitle these games the Tragedy of Haseo

Actually, he visited Shino in the hospital regularly according to some of his dialouge in G.U.
I still wonder why all the drama. The effects that Haseo saw were identical to normal player death as far as anyone knows, at least from a range. He came to her as if he met a irl girl dying. When his first reaction should have been "omf, she got killed inside the cathedral ? I will have to ask her why and how when she respawns.. Or maybe i will jjust call her IRL.". Instead,Haseo acted as if he already knew the script.

G.U. remake announced, expect video game graphics to be amazing
wtf. they edited the fight to shorten it. and the music is bizarre. however the look its amazing. 7/10 The older music from the original score was more appropriate for this combat sequence. and shortening a fight for no real reason is unacceptable. but the look. perfect.
It had to be shortened because this is a movie, meaning limited time to cram literally all three games into a single film. It's only natural that some things would become condensed, but I understand your woes all the same.

Is this just shown in the Japanese version or what? The fight scene I saw in my American version is different from this. For one thing the screen is like a orange and pinkish tiny sorta color during this whole scene as if it was done during the day rather then night and the part where he is taking out all the guys with his twin blades is not as graphic in my version.
I know I am late but this scene is from a movie called .hack//G.U. trilogy, it shows some events from the game and has some big differences from the canon.

Samic8485 Not really. . Azure Kite is sort of a protector against foreign entities in the system.
Samic8485 in GU Kite isnt Kite. It's a reconstruction of Kite made as a reaction to the mass amounts of AIDA in the system. He's made as the ultimate Moderator. He hunts any players with "illegal upgrades" (meaning AIDA infected) and Data Drains them to cleanse them.
To everyone else he's a PKer that appears randomly in a blaze of light and blue fire, blasts someone with an unidentifiable attack (Data Drain) and then vanishes.

To clarify, this online game uses certain 'archetypes' as templates for creating characters. Kite just happened to be one of them, so there's been a number of people who had used his archetype and looked like him ever since. In the recent .hack//The Movie, that cutesy Kite is played by a girl, but the character's gender is listed as male. Moreover, in the OVA .hack//Quantum before that, the twin-tailed female main character named Sakuya, played by a girl, bears a great resemblance to Kite, and is another example of his character base being used by another player.
This Kite, whilst listed as a male, is actually neither. This isn't actually Kite, but rather "Azure Kite", or more popularly, "zombie Kite". He is an offshoot mess of a copy of the original Kite's character data, but controlled by a system AI created by the game. Azure Kite is tasked with protecting Aura, and is rumored to be the notorious "Tri-Edge".
So where's the REAL kite?
That's about right. The interesting thing with .hack// is that there's a duality between the virtual and real lives. While what Kite and crew managed to do is definitely a big deal in the World, in real life their players are still just mostly normal people. So they're bound to up and leave at some point.
But if you're talking about "real" characters, then... It's been suggested that the characters can come to life by themselves, just like Azure Kite. Meaning, AI. This happened all over the place in .hack//Link. Yeah, all those characters from all over the timelines? Nobody's actually playing any of them.
+tekkenlover The Real Kite still stuck in "The World Ver. 1" that has been destroyed, for this scene this is "The World ver. 2" what i seen most of the games. Plus the Real Kite has the tittle of The Flame God, The Original Kite and the kite in this scene is almost like being cursed/possessed by a book and became Azure Knight and become Anti-Aida or Guardian of "The World". Just like Ovan said "It's not the end, it's just a beginning"

Finn human You need to play the whole game to get it. you see, it IS just a game, but when you "data drain" somebody, you are doing much more than just killing their character, your draining their consciousness.
Do take into consideration that this is all set in the future, so "mind sync" would be an appropriate word to what the glasses do
Ciel Phantomhive When data drained, it overwhelms the brain with barrages of quick paced images and sounds until the brain shuts itself down inducing a coma to prevent taking any further damage. The same way that a seeing something so horrific (like a murder or accident) can cause you to lose consciousness. It's your brain saving you psyche and itself by manually shutting off. Quite amazing actually.

+tekkenlover The real Kite is a boy, Azure Kite is just his player data being controlled by an AI that Aura made, Shugo ( twilight Kite) is a kid who won Kites player data in a contest. As for the female versions of Kite, their just characters who happen to have PC's that look like Kite. I hope that helped.
Original Kite is a boy, but in dot hack quantum it was a girl player that got selected when she started the game to use the Kite skin, so same skin different players
