I think she knows the song very well from the past but with her newer voice there are choices she needs to make, so that she can learn to use the nuances of her current voice to maximize the effect for the song.
@@ronraskind Agreed. Like with Diana Ankodinova, there is a younger age where these contra-alto types have a stronger resonance in the ranges of typical adult women. Diana worked hard on her upper range recovery, but it isn't as flexible/dynamic in certain tonalities. In regards to When We Were Young, hopefully Angie maintains her record of impeccable taste. Extra ordinary R&B or Queen of Soul could get too Christina Agulara, i.e. runs, runs and more runs. I exaggerate of course.

From observation, she doesn't do the perfectionist thing for playing instruments. She's a very casual strummer at guitar, which is fine. She does work on piano it seems. All of it aids her in knowing what she wants from an ensemble or composing for here original material.

Absolutely right. Rehearsal and constantly thinking about a song is totally what Angelina does. There are several times you see her concentrating hard developing her final take. In fact l have seen a lot of them. My Funny Valentine. Fly me to the moon. Always working on her craft. 24/7. In a garage in the middle of the night. Walking down the street. She is a Pro, so when I see her now, I expected anything less than the most elevated behavior in a studio... I do have to say, that I was more than surprised to see her wearing shoes when singing... When you see the finished song she quite often has little secret smiles.... I think its because sections that took some sorting out in rehearsals have worked out ok, I love that ...she is so fascinating, I always watch her face you can see her working the song.
Great to have you back, Britt. As you're into fashion and stuff, keep an eye out for Bal Des Debutantes on Nov 25th, as Angelina is attending. Dressed by Dolce Gabbana and her escort is the grandson of the founder of Indonesia. A few years back Forbes ranked the venue as one of the 10 most influential in the world. This was very much a practice, maybe just trying out the new arrangement with the violin. I think we can hear her say AMAZING before she turns toward the violinist and lets go of a smile. A very beautiful arrangement 🙂 Also, just after she started, you can hear her ask her mother where Juliette is. Her mother tells her that she is with Michael, and then she continues. She is so incredibly loving and caring. In her original "What Is Life" she calls Juliette the love of her life. As far as your statement that we always get to hear the end result with her, I don't agree. We have roughly 100 performances with her and Egil or Ivan on guitar, and all of those were 1-takes without any preparation. As per interviews with both guitarists 🙂 Also a lot of rehearsals with her and her band. Britt, If you listen to her thirteen year old out door performance of this song you will certainly be impressed. IMO, it might be a case where the evolution of Angelina’s vocal abilities and the additional options she has, compared to her being thirteen years old, is causing her some angst in deciding on what direction she wants her vocal arrangement and accompanying instrumentation to sound like.

Hi sir - first of all Britt had watched Putri already and was so impressed like i was - second thing it was AGT not BGT - third thing Angelina and Putri have so many similarities that it is quite crazy - i love them both - if i had to do a judging i would say Putri is better at Instruments and as she has eidetic memory better in remembering Songs - as a child until maybe 10- 11 Angelina was the better vocalist imo but at 12 Putri comes along and got equal in a different voice way - both girls have a unique hearing and are inside every music they hear so to change classics into Originals is not hard at all for both - Angelina has had a more easy and beloved childhood but got insides of cruelty and poverty around the world that brought her to vouw for childrens charity what is there until today - Putri experianced cruelty herself in early days but got over it with her strong will and caring family (pls watch TedX with Putri about one year before AGT) - best regards from Germany

First off, you sounded surprised to see her mom. She doesn’t go anywhere in working mode without someone in her family with her. That’s part of her family safety net. Also, this is not the first time she’s sung this song. I think the violin is throwing her off here. I was surprised to hear it with this song because it really doesn’t go well-it’s not blending with the rest of the music. I’m sure that’s what is throwing her off. Maybe she thought the reverb would mask it a little bit? The violinist is probably somebody’s relative.
Diana Ankudinova has greatly improved over the last 5 years. She last performed with the Hans Zimmer Orchestra, where she performed the soundtrack of the movie 'Dune', and covered a James Bond song 'No Time to Die' they maybe fan cams but her voice is spectacular.
She’s a little annoyed with her musicians. I’ve see this a lot with her rehearsals. She’s always always gracious but she is a perfectionist all the way .
Britt, I have watched many of your reactions to Angelina and have enjoyed all of them love how you investigate what you are doing. As we all have seen what happens when a person reacts without researching their subject before making comments just look at the reactions from what is supposed to be our intelligence centers and you can see the disastrous effects of not being educated about your actions ie, pro-Hamas sentiment and demonstrations sorry but it shows that it is VERY important to be accurate in what one does.
Watch her performed this song when she was 12 or 13 in an open air concert. For me a much better version. IMO she tried here to much of the twang sound.
Yes the Norway summer is the best version to date. Until she hones this in, she will have issues with the phrasing. If she embellishes too much, she'll fall into a group of excellent singers that lose the essence of the original. So, is her ability today, affecting her impeccable judgement of yesteryears?
12 originals released and counting. Her debut album will come either at the end of the year or early next year. Check out her 6 song EP called Old Enough. It is insanely good. She was live in the chat during the release of the EP, and when asked she said that she has written more than 100 songs already. Just recently Republic Records built a recording studio exclusively for her, so a lot of things will change very soon. As per Angelina and her family's premise, there has been absolutely no promotion of her so far, they have always wanted her to finish school first, which happened this summer. She will turn 18 on January 10th, just around the time of the debut album. And she will very soon drop a Christmas EP as well. Love from Norway ♥

Well, after not being sure about this young 17 year old girl, I heard her versions of All I Ask and Easy On Me and, oh boy, this girl is really good! Then, I listened to her EP called Old Enough, in which she wrote all of the songs, she is showing me that she is a pretty good songwriter as well! To me, she's quite unique because she is fusing Jazz, R&B, Soul, and Pop in her music. In today's world of vanilla pop, her music and sound is quite unique and refreshing. I heard she has written over 100 songs, so I'm looking forward to more of her original music....
These things are subjective but to my listening Angelina has a far richer, more versatile and better voice than Adele... there are videos where their voices are presented "side by side" as it were, and in comparison Adele's voice seem rather thin and tinny... No problem if you prefer Adele of course but to say Angelina's version is "an injustice" seems very odd...

She did this live in Norway at 13yo and it was effortless perfection. Like a refined Adele. Here she is stylizing it with her unique bag of tools, but it also sounds like it can easily go into vocal gymnastics. After covering Mercy, she has found her 'early adult years' signature style. Some of my favorites are rehearsal videos, or any video where she's just "working things out". In an interview at 12, Angelina said, "I feel 12 when I look at my passport." So mature and so professional! Angelina often doesn't sing with as much power in a rehearsal like this. All very relaxed.
They dropped the violin part for the final performance. In fact, the "process" you are referring to is Angelina most likely (my guess) trying to decide whether to keep the violin part - it is not that she is not sure of the song as she has sung it several times at events.

This is crazy, I’m telling you her vocals feel like it’s time travelling right her.. what do I mean by that ?.. it’s like the soul/ styling in her vocals started sounding older as she it the, Old and Restless part.. literally dragging more emotion out of the words, the violin rifts is adding to this effect as well.. if you listen back to her older live stages performances, she was not squeezing/ stressing that particular part out like that before.. this has come with her age witch is crazy because, she is still very young.. like your saying, she’s like the youngest veteran I’ve ever seen. Still way beyond her years.. Very young but she has vocal Emotional Intelligence and intuition. This is what separates her. And This is only a rehearsal.

It's so good to have you back, Britt! This is a great glimpse into her process.
She did a beautiful straight cover of this at an outdoor concert at 13 but here she is "styling" it as you said, and it sounds delicious!
When you see the finished song she quite often has little secret smiles.... I think its because sections that took some sorting out in rehearsals have worked out ok, I love that ...she is so fascinating, I always watch her face you can see her working the song.
Great to have you back, Britt. As you're into fashion and stuff, keep an eye out for Bal Des Debutantes on Nov 25th, as Angelina is attending. Dressed by Dolce Gabbana and her escort is the grandson of the founder of Indonesia. A few years back Forbes ranked the venue as one of the 10 most influential in the world. This was very much a practice, maybe just trying out the new arrangement with the violin. I think we can hear her say AMAZING before she turns toward the violinist and lets go of a smile. A very beautiful arrangement 🙂
Also, just after she started, you can hear her ask her mother where Juliette is. Her mother tells her that she is with Michael, and then she continues. She is so incredibly loving and caring. In her original "What Is Life" she calls Juliette the love of her life. As far as your statement that we always get to hear the end result with her, I don't agree. We have roughly 100 performances with her and Egil or Ivan on guitar, and all of those were 1-takes without any preparation. As per interviews with both guitarists 🙂 Also a lot of rehearsals with her and her band.

Britt, so good to see you back. I'm not sure that I've heard her sing this song recently. Of course, everybody has mentioned her age 13 performance on outside stage. It was wonderful. She may be working on a slightly different arrangement with different instrumentation. That might be what you were observing.

IMO, it might be a case where the evolution of Angelina’s vocal abilities and the additional options she has, compared to her being thirteen years old, is causing her some angst in deciding on what direction she wants her vocal arrangement and accompanying instrumentation to sound like.

Hi sir - first of all Britt had watched Putri already and was so impressed like i was - second thing it was AGT not BGT - third thing Angelina and Putri have so many similarities that it is quite crazy - i love them both - if i had to do a judging i would say Putri is better at Instruments and as she has eidetic memory better in remembering Songs - as a child until maybe 10- 11 Angelina was the better vocalist imo but at 12 Putri comes along and got equal in a different voice way - both girls have a unique hearing and are inside every music they hear so to change classics into Originals is not hard at all for both - Angelina has had a more easy and beloved childhood but got insides of cruelty and poverty around the world that brought her to vouw for childrens charity what is there until today - Putri experianced cruelty herself in early days but got over it with her strong will and caring family (pls watch TedX with Putri about one year before AGT) - best regards from Germany

First off, you sounded surprised to see her mom. She doesn’t go anywhere in working mode without someone in her family with her. That’s part of her family safety net. Also, this is not the first time she’s sung this song. I think the violin is throwing her off here. I was surprised to hear it with this song because it really doesn’t go well-it’s not blending with the rest of the music. I’m sure that’s what is throwing her off. Maybe she thought the reverb would mask it a little bit? The violinist is probably somebody’s relative.

Diana Ankudinova has greatly improved over the last 5 years. She last performed with the Hans Zimmer Orchestra, where she performed the soundtrack of the movie 'Dune', and covered a James Bond song 'No Time to Die' they maybe fan cams but her voice is spectacular.
She’s a little annoyed with her musicians. I’ve see this a lot with her rehearsals. She’s always always gracious but she is a perfectionist all the way .
Britt, I have watched many of your reactions to Angelina and have enjoyed all of them love how you investigate what you are doing. As we all have seen what happens when a person reacts without researching their subject before making comments just look at the reactions from what is supposed to be our intelligence centers and you can see the disastrous effects of not being educated about your actions ie, pro-Hamas sentiment and demonstrations sorry but it shows that it is VERY important to be accurate in what one does.

Yes the Norway summer is the best version to date. Until she hones this in, she will have issues with the phrasing. If she embellishes too much, she'll fall into a group of excellent singers that lose the essence of the original. So, is her ability today, affecting her impeccable judgement of yesteryears?

Angelina is a good singer but I find it an injustice to the original singer. Once in awhile it is ok. Does she have her songs?
12 originals released and counting. Her debut album will come either at the end of the year or early next year. Check out her 6 song EP called Old Enough. It is insanely good. She was live in the chat during the release of the EP, and when asked she said that she has written more than 100 songs already. Just recently Republic Records built a recording studio exclusively for her, so a lot of things will change very soon. As per Angelina and her family's premise, there has been absolutely no promotion of her so far, they have always wanted her to finish school first, which happened this summer. She will turn 18 on January 10th, just around the time of the debut album. And she will very soon drop a Christmas EP as well. Love from Norway ♥

AJ is a unique artist, & an amazing songwriter as well, I agree...She chooses her 'covers' according to how much she admires either that particular tune or their overall talent & body of work as a whole.

Well, after not being sure about this young 17 year old girl, I heard her versions of All I Ask and Easy On Me and, oh boy, this girl is really good! Then, I listened to her EP called Old Enough, in which she wrote all of the songs, she is showing me that she is a pretty good songwriter as well! To me, she's quite unique because she is fusing Jazz, R&B, Soul, and Pop in her music. In today's world of vanilla pop, her music and sound is quite unique and refreshing. I heard she has written over 100 songs, so I'm looking forward to more of her original music....
These things are subjective but to my listening Angelina has a far richer, more versatile and better voice than Adele... there are videos where their voices are presented "side by side" as it were, and in comparison Adele's voice seem rather thin and tinny... No problem if you prefer Adele of course but to say Angelina's version is "an injustice" seems very odd...

Angelina is a work in constant motion/progress.
She did this live in Norway at 13yo and it was effortless perfection. Like a refined Adele. Here she is stylizing it with her unique bag of tools, but it also sounds like it can easily go into vocal gymnastics. After covering Mercy, she has found her 'early adult years' signature style. It also seems that she is bringing out the 'Queen of Soul' for covers. Fingers crossed.

She is always trying to improve from her previous versions ,the mark of a true natural creative artist. Some of my favorites are rehearsal videos, or any video where she's just "working things out". In an interview at 12, Angelina said, "I feel 12 when I look at my passport." So mature and so professional! Angelina often doesn't sing with as much power in a rehearsal like this. All very relaxed.
They dropped the violin part for the final performance. In fact, the "process" you are referring to is Angelina most likely (my guess) trying to decide whether to keep the violin part - it is not that she is not sure of the song as she has sung it several times at events.

This is crazy, I’m telling you her vocals feel like it’s time travelling right her.. what do I mean by that ?.. it’s like the soul/ styling in her vocals started sounding older as she it the, Old and Restless part.. literally dragging more emotion out of the words, the violin rifts is adding to this effect as well.. if you listen back to her older live stages performances, she was not squeezing/ stressing that particular part out like that before.. this has come with her age witch is crazy because, she is still very young.. like your saying, she’s like the youngest veteran I’ve ever seen. Still way beyond her years.. Very young but she has vocal Emotional Intelligence and intuition. This is what separates her.
