"I'd like to start your training." Lucien: NO U I can't thank you enough for this series, If I ever release anything I'm crediting you for helping me learn. (I'm mostly doing this for personal use though)
This helped greatly. Had been thinking of a follower idea. Maybe it sounds like Serana but male. The idea was a vampire from the second era, turned around the events of ESO. He's an Imperial with an odd history, unexpected opinions and very stiff morals though they can change. He'd be a lot like Aurlyn in terms of philosophical load but more demanding of player responses. If wanting to convince him, you'll have to get down to arguing with him in length. Some views he'll never change on, some he'll need convincing and some he'll be either in agreement or not care. I'd just have to take time implementing a lot of reactions to player actions to accurately give a moralist character
Wow. I didn’t even know who Lucien was until this, I just got Skyrim a couple days ago and wanted to look at how easy making my own mods would be. I’m gonna be honest, I was not expecting anyone with your level of credibility to have made a guide, let alone one so enthusiastically and clearly. This is fantastic, and you are a saint. Thank you!
I wanted to create my own follower mod for a long while now, and never was quite able to understand the creation kit. Your step by step explanation is helping me a LOT! Thank you for putting so much time and effort into this tutorial.

This is a new version of the CK that is not compatible with Nuukem's essential fixes. You can therefore use this Creation Kit Downgrade Patcher to downgrade the Steam version to the last version that was compatible with Nuukem's fixes. www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/67096 2) If you don't have the "Processing" folder if you don't have the "Processing" folder containing the FonixData file that you need for SSE CreationKit Fixes, try downloading the Classic Skyrim 32-bit Creation Kit as well and see if that generates the folder. 3) I'm available for hire as a private tutor! It's been years since I last played Skyrim after the death of my laptop and hearing Lucien is already a treat for me. But hearing him teach me is a blessing! Thank you for this

Thank you! I started working on my very own custom voiced + custom framework follower just a couple of weeks ago, but since it is my first ever mod for Skyrim I knew I would require some help along the way - and then this lovely video pops up! I will definitively stay tuned for this series. So thank you for being awesome Joseph!
unlike older videos, please never take down your amazingly useful videos. Leave them online forever! Your hard work and invested time and efforts show constantly throughout the video.

Watching this as someone who has just got into Voice Acting and helping ou with a Skyrim Mod for the first time. Great vids. Has anyone ever told you you should go into voice acting full time? You have a great voice for explainer vids that keep your audience engaged. :)

I love having Lucien as a follower in Skyrim. And was pleasantly surprised and incredibly pleased to find the creator's youtube (I am now subed). I was searching for tips on creating follower npcs and finding this lesson in Lucien's voice made my day.
Inspired by Lucien, Inigo, and Auri, I've decided that-- with no knowledge of how to create mods for Skyrim (or anything for that matter)-- I wanna make my own highly-interactive, custom-voiced follower mod. And after learning that this series existed, I figured why not learn from one of my main inspirations? Granted, I'll be starting with basic stuff rather than immediately working on my imagined magnum opus, but still. I haven't actually watched it yet, but I'm excited to get into this journey that definitely won't be painful and agonizing in the least! lmao
As many tutorials as I've watched about setting up Creation Kit, and nobody else bothered to mention FonixData or the .ini! Thank you for going into depth.

Lucien and Inigo are what inspired me to try it out, thank you for creating Lucien and give Smartbluecat my thanks as well for Inigo, finding this video was like striking gold - a tutorial on how to make a follower mod similar to what inspired me by the creator of said inspiration! perfection.
Oh my God Lucien is giving me a tutorial ^-^ I adore him and I am so grateful you are making these tutorials. Your mod has been such an inspiration and I want to make a follower of my own! The minute I heard your voice as Lucien, I fell in love. When I heard your voice as yourself when starting to watch the video, I fell in love again and subbed right away.
So, I've been playing some skyrim lately (3 years or so lmao) and I've uninstalled it and re installed it along with it's mods a lot of times, but the mod that I never forget to download is Lucien. Such an amazing follower, not only because of the quests and facilities it brings (like his dwemmer bell, which I think is cool as hell) but because he is so charming and cute and lovable! The fact that I would kill any creature that even dares to look wrong at him tells that you did an amazing work. I'll be honest, I've never gone too far with his personal quests (nor skyrim in general) since i have this love/hate relationship with Skyrim. But he always makes the worst scenario look bright as day, and I thank you for creating him. Now, I DIDN'T KNEW YOU ARE A WRITER! THAT'S SO COOL! I NEED to get my hands on that book. I like writing too, and I'm sure that with this guide soon I'll be able to create a Follower that will inspire what yours have on me. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Haha it's not quite the same as my normal speaking voice, Lucien's is a bit higher and posher, but it is intentionally similar so it's comfortable for me :)
I've had the idea of making a healer mod of one of the beast races, either Argonian or an Ohmes-Raht Khajiit variant from the Lunar Lattice mod, for a long while now. This guide is what I needed to actually consider doing it! If I get a microphone that's decent quality I'm definitely going to try.
Once I save up the money to get a decent set up I’m definitely using these tutorials to finally make the Skyrim follower mod I’ve been wanting to forever. The basic idea is a Old altmer that is a veteran of sorts of both the oblivion crisis and the Great War. He’s a former thalmor justicar who has seen the error of his ways and is now hiding from the thalmor. we barely see any old elves and I would love to use this character to bring a new perspective to the thalmor. Since to me they aren’t as one sided as most people think.
I'll put this to good use once I get my PC set up,I do intend on putting my follower mod on all platforms and have it break the fourth wall and talk about different enemies, armors, and places, but I'll get to that once I get things set up on my PC,plus I need to make my desk, but thanks man,and keep up updating Lucien, maybe make Dumbzbathar a Summon similar to Inigos,Dumbzbathar will temporarily help and a side quest for him to find a separate body he can use for exploration for that summon, but have fun updating, and also, remember to get in touch with SmartBlueCat for more dialogue with the Serana dialogue Mod
I personally use a HyperX QuadCast for all my recording needs. I highly suggest it for anybody. Comes with a built in pop filter and is perfect for voice acting among it's main advertising uses.
Bro, you scared the literal crap out of me! I was listening to a quiet video of modding facegen data, I accidentally hit the skip button instead of fast forward and all I see is your beautiful face screaming "HELLO" like holy crap dude I think you scared the demons out of me. p.s. You're the best modder help I've ever had, thank you for helping me get my mod off the ground! Aniya is a great nexus mod and people are loving it! Thank you!
The second I found out you were Lucien, I subbed. Looking for making a 2nd player npc mod. Effectively, a "player character" ran by a python program who plays the game in the same world, at the same time. They would be another captive, and while not a dragonborn, they can complete quests. I would need: To make the character npc. To make them able to interact with npcs like the player character can. To make them stay loaded, and everything around them stay loaded, in addition to the actual player. (Time freezing for the player will freeze them, but time freezes for them will pause them until loading finishes or play in real time) Make inputs and outputs to connect the python program. To make the chatbot part function. And to make it so quests and npc interactions are handled. (I can't start a quest they're doing, they can't start a dragonborn-only quest, they choose different paths, quest item management (probably have each one duplicate, or only available after starting the quest), etc.) Now to follow you on twitch!
I am so gonna make a follower, hopefully with it's own story attached to it, and a few quests too as well if I can. Going to ask a friend to voice him, as I really wanna make a male follower. There are so few high quality voiced male unique followers. Yours is definitely among the best there are!
Joseph, I hope you made a page on Nexus that shows this. I realize there's nothing to really download (although to meet that requirement you could simply add your modified ini for the CK). I think this series should be shown on Nexus as that's where it would get the most attention and do the most good. Thanks for the tutorial :)

p.s. You're the best modder help I've ever had, thank you for helping me get my mod off the ground! Aniya is a great nexus mod and people are loving it! Thank you!
I’m so pleased that you sound exactly like Lucien in real life. 😁
The second I found out you were Lucien, I subbed.
Looking for making a 2nd player npc mod. Effectively, a "player character" ran by a python program who plays the game in the same world, at the same time. They would be another captive, and while not a dragonborn, they can complete quests.
I would need:
To make the character npc.
To make them able to interact with npcs like the player character can.
To make them stay loaded, and everything around them stay loaded, in addition to the actual player. (Time freezing for the player will freeze them, but time freezes for them will pause them until loading finishes or play in real time)
Make inputs and outputs to connect the python program.
To make the chatbot part function.
And to make it so quests and npc interactions are handled. (I can't start a quest they're doing, they can't start a dragonborn-only quest, they choose different paths, quest item management (probably have each one duplicate, or only available after starting the quest), etc.)
Now to follow you on twitch!
He is absolutely ADORABLE!!
I am so gonna make a follower, hopefully with it's own story attached to it, and a few quests too as well if I can. Going to ask a friend to voice him, as I really wanna make a male follower. There are so few high quality voiced male unique followers. Yours is definitely among the best there are!
This is the fonixdata file that is missing in the Creation Kit for Skyrim SSE.
