I found a way to make the clay harder, the moment that you take clay out of oven immerse in very cold water. Gives it a hard texture. I keep a jar of water in fridge labeled poison on fridge door and it works very well. Give it a try, you only have to leave it in water for a few seconds. Debbie
Cheap, flexible cutting boards from the dollar store is much easier than the wax paper for working on. They usually come in packages with three or five, and you can keep one just for white. :) Just make sure to use one with a flat, non-texture surface.
I love watching the tutorial. Yes, I would like to see more tutorials using the clay and even more different designs to make for the handles of hooks. Thank you for taking the time and showing how these are done.
First I want to say that I love all of your tutorials you have taught me so many things that I don't think I would ever be able to do with out your help! If you could I would love to see some of the tutorials with flowers or butterflies or something like that. Thank you again!!!
Thank you so much Yolanda ;) I have been looking high and low to find some way to make my hooks easier to hold. They make my dang hands hurt after a while. This should really help. Big smiles to you!
I love listening to you talk, you have such a soothing voice and a beautiful Mexican accent. You sound like such a gentle person and I wish I had people like you in my life. Thank you for making this video, you make this so easy to follow💞
thank you I bought some clay material to try doing this about 2 years ago and never have tried so now with this helpful tutorial I will give it a try .... thanks Yolanda
Hi Yolanda, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE all your videos! I can't wait to do this, making a unique design with clay for my hooks! I LOVE how you really go into detail on each step in everything you do that is what a tutorial video is for and when I watch your videos I start to talk out loud and ask questions, and it's funny because you will answer! Keep up the GREAT work you have taught me alot! And Thank you for continuing to post videos, I Love them!
You have helped me so much I learned how to crochet because of u and i really thank you for that! I love crocheting now, before I had gave up for about a year but then I came across your videos now I'm hooked! God Bless you too! :)
what a great idea! I find my hands hurting more and tried buying thicker hooks. this is beautiful & my kids have a lot of this clay to make beads! thank you! !!!
I can't wait to add clay and design to my hooks. you're actually saving me $$. when I see crochet hooks with a thicker handle or designs, i want to but them. now, I can personalize my own. ty very much...signed, new subscriber
Good evening thank you very much for show me how to do this but I don't think I'm gonna be able to do it because I'm legally blind but you described it very very well and God bless you too take care keep doing your tutorials I'll keep watching thank you
Loved this tutorial. I am definitely going to play with this. And I would live to see the lesson on making flowers and leaves. Thank you for keeping me inspired.
I have never tried this, but after your tutorial, I feel confident that I can do it. Thank you for making it simple and elegant. I loved the tutorial. :)
I am happy for this video so I can use the hooks I have. Really cute as I haven't worked with this clay before but it is now a necessity as am a senior with arthritis and avid needle worker of many thread kinds.
Just have to say THANK YOU!! I love all your videos and I learned how to crochet with you and I know I would love to see more clay Ideas from you!! Your great and I really apprecuate the time you take to make all theses videos..I know its not easy! I will be rolling my clay just like I do my tortillas!! Thanks again and may Jehovah give you many blessings!!
Now I know how to make a clay hook shine so bright like a diamond in the sky :) I love my lil pendant. I'll use it as both pendant and keychain. Thank you so much. Feliz dia de las Madres xoxo
Thank you. I’ve been wanting to try this!! I’m stopping at Michaels after work to buy some clay tomorrow. I love the swirls. The carving just makes it look so professional! Thank you!! Great job!!
Love how these hooks turned out! You're the first one I've come across that suggested buffing to get a shinier finish! Gonna have to try the line design on my next batch of hooks
I absolutely LOVE all your tutorials ! Now I'm off to Michaels to buy my Sculpty supplies to make my hook grips . I' d love to see more clay project tutorials!! Thanks Yolanda for teaching me so much !! I don't read crouchet patterns so your tutorials walk me thru every step with ease!!
Great idea Yolanda, thanks. Those metal hooks can be tricky to grip, espesh the smaller ones, and I find the hooks with a plastic handle are too short, so this is the perfect solution.
Thank you Yolanda, may God bless you always!!! I have learned so much from watching your videos and I am so thankful for your tutorials!!! I tried to send you a message about crocheting flower curtains, I am so looking forward to a tutorial from you on that (maybe I can have some clay hooks made by then)
Thank you! GREAT IDEA! I have been looking to buy some hook covers to easy my fingers when I crochet. I will be making these this week! Again THANK YOU FOR SUCH A GREAT IDEA!
Love this! Funny, saw sone on line yesterday, got up today, Yolanda did it! Yay! Thanks for tutorials! I have tons of molding “non-drying clay” because of grandkids, wish I could use that! 😂.
Hi! I bought some clay from Michaels a while back to play with and I am going to buy some more hooks today. I want to try this and now I feel a little more able to do it, thanks!! love Carol
Thank you so much! I'm definately going to do this! I enjoy your videos very much. My daughter and I are trying to learn Crochet watching your videos. :-)
Great tutorial. Can't wait to try it. I hope this will help the pain in my hands after crocheting. Thank you soooo much. God bless and keep up the good work. Michelle G.
I literally just did this to all of my crochet hooks about 4 days ago with Sculpey clay and I LOVE it! I'm wishing I'd seen your tutorial before I had done them all but not for the reasons everyone would think.....mine look really cool, (next time I'm doing the swirl pattern, that's wicked cool!) but I had the hardest time engraving the hook size with my yarn needle (of course mine are all sizes like 6.5 mm, 0.75 mm..nothing simple like a letter size lol!) but your technique really looked much nicer! Btw, I absolutely LOVE your tutorials! I've made at least 6 of the Easy Beret's....all in different colors & I've even crocheted matching scrunchies to go with them all and now I'm working on matching scarves/gloves! Keep up the excellent work, you ROCK!
This is tae first time I have seen the polymer clay used. I loved the video and have subscribed and hope you will post more techniques and different projects that you do. Thank you!
wow! that is really cool. I've been wanting to do this, but I was sure how to. thanks so much for the video! please , do continue to make more of these videos:)
I really enjoyed this video. I like all your videos but I would definitely love to see more on working with clay. Maybe some instruction on doing more complex designs. Thank you for all your hard work. :-)
Hi Yolanda, all the tools come in a package with the Clay?? But please post more tutorials I'm not so good at drawing. Thanks keep up the good work . God bless
thanks for the tutorial. I was wondering what could I do to make my hooks thicker. i tried the rubber things but that just did not work out out for me. This seems to be just what I wanted! thanks
Excellant. I think i want to give this a try. :) I love the 5mm size hook, so i might do it to that one i own. THks so much for the video. YOU ROCK KIDDO
Well done for making this video. I do enjoy you're channel. Just a little tip I found, is if you roll up clay from the narrow end, it is a lot easier and you get loads more swirls. Just roll out the resultant log to make it longer again. Thanks Again :-)
Have you used acrylic paint on the polymer clay then headed it in the oven as you suggested? I would like to know if the paint bubbled up or flaked off. Thanks
Thanks for sharing Your talents. I would Love to learn how to make clay roses and leaves as I've seen on faux clay cakes. If you would be so kind as to post how to do them it would be very appreciated. Thanks again :)
Thanks sister and keep going but I have two questions if you don't mind 1st can i take the hook out of clay after baking it or not 2nd Can you see the colour after baking clay on ur hand or not
Yolanda , If one wants to use the gloss varnish ,when (before or after baking)is it applied? And how is it applied (small painters brush, sponge) ? Thank you .. loved this tutorial very informative as they all are:) Blessing to you

A lot of her comments made me think of Bob Ross. Not sure if you know of him but I just loved him and still watch his old painting shows on Netflix.

I love the “do as I say not as I do” part 🥰 I tell my kids that all the time! Lol
