Eyy this is great!! Love the Flying Battery motif at the start. You've really managed to give the song more depth than the original! Amazing job as usual!!
Thanks man! My thought process behind the flying battery motif was literally just "hey wouldn't it be cool if I added the flying battery beginning to the beginning" and then I did and it was awesome
If I am going to be honest, I think your spite towards the original may have harmed this cover’s quality. It sounds like it’s trying too hard to be something it’s not. I’d recommend giving it a try again with another one of Jun’s Superstars songs, maybe give a go at the Golden Capital or Frozen Base Act 1s, but try to stick to the original composition as close as possible. For an extension, you could loop the track around again but with a different patch choice as lead, a very solid way to extend a track without adding too much extra fluff. I like your instrument choice so i’d like to see you improve, but honestly I think the Lagoon City cover is a lot bette since it doesn’t focus as much on trying to be something it isn’t. Hopefully you can understand where i’m coming from.
Great remix, great to use the sound of Flying Battery, I would like to hear a version of Egg Fortrest, obviously an extended version in your style. it would be great
The fact that 10-12 years after sonic 4 jun saw superstars and thought "i'm gonna make my music sound like that old game that nobody asked for" it baffles me This has that fresh yet classic sound juns music lacked in superstars and turns an ok song to a bop
Sorry, but I heavily disagree with this description. "However, the instrumentation is ear-grating" Which ones? You didn't specify so I'll have to assume the FM guitars used at the beginning. While part of it is due to Superstars' soundtrack not being mixed in time for the final release (Sonic game was rushed, shock), it also seems like you're just not familiar with how Sega Genesis games typically sounded. Compared to several other Genesis-themed soundtracks I've heard (especially games like Alien Storm), the samples here are very tame. And typical. Yes, it's an opposite to Tee Lopes' very soft instrumentation, but different artists are gonna be different. The rest of the instruments (mostly Vacuum VST) were made as a replication of vintage analog-era synths. And according to those who have used it, it is proper. So yeah, this is just how a lot of synths sounded back then. And this is a Classic Sonic game, so the use of classic instrumentation is self-explanatory. "and the loop is way too short" It's literally longer than the song that it's based on (Flying Battery). Since Jun Senoue goes out of his way to preserve Genesis-era composition, the songs are about the same length. I've yet to hear any complaints about Flying Battery being "way too short", so no issue here. "The fact that every cover of this song that I've heard sounds good proves that." No it doesn't. That's anecdote + confirmation bias. You already think the original sucks so of course you're gonna like the remixes more. For me, most remixes I've heard so far completely miss the point of the original. Press Factory is metallic, abrasive, and full of peril. The music reflects that. The remixes, however, focus entirely on softening the song. This strongly weakens it's applicability to the gameplay, and directly goes against the composer's intentions. All while the uploaders of said remixes insult the composer while copying his work.
@@Jayromi2 I mean, you could've actually backed up your claims, or put some effort into having a civil, honest discussion but I see that you clearly just know all the answers. Thanks for your insightful, constructive response. It's a shame that the effort you put into your comments reflects the effort you put into your music.
I'm sorry about that response, I will admit I was a bit peeved and I personally didn't see how I needed to justify why I don't like a certain song. That was unprofessional of me and I'm sorry. I actually had a response typed and I deleted it out of frustration, but I can paste it and continue. I am well aware that Flying Battery has a short loop and I don't like that either. The problem that many people has with this track is that the instrumentation just doesn't sound good, much like Sonic 4's music, but the composition itself is good, also like most of Sonic 4's music. Yet there are still better tracks from those classics that sound better than Press Factory. Jun Senoue can make good ass music, Press Factory is good ass music, I just don't like the instrumentation. I can have criticisms while still liking the song. I wasn't trying to really fix the song. I just wanted to make my own spin on it, cause at the end of the day, I'm doing this for fun. Again, I'm sorry for my response earlier.
I did not appreciate the insult towards my music though. Like if you don't like it then that's fine, but you didn't need to do that. Why are you even here anyway if you don't like it
I want to use a hydraulic press on a flying duracell battery
I think that would be funny
check youtube. The battery won't be flying, but I think someone did a video of a press smashing a battery.

Great remix! I love the new parts added to the song, and I think the brass here works better as a lead instrument than guitar.
Thank you! I think making the guitar a backup instrument is good and I like it

I may consider doing Egg Fortress one day, but I have other covers I want to do first at the moment

YESSIRRRRR
Really fun cover! Just a nitpicky word of advice though, the SN76489 chip on an actual genesis cannot be panned to the left or right at all.
Really? I could have sworn I've heard it do that before
@@Jayromi2 some sonic songs mimic PSG-ish sounds with the FM channels (Angel Island Act 2 for example), that could be the reason.
act 2 please.
sonic gets press compilation?
Press compilation
This is proof that the Sonic Superstars OST could've been great, they just HAD to mess it up by giving Jun Senoue those Sonic 4 instruments.

Bro really typed out a whole essay because I have an opinion about a song I like, but have minor problems with, that I think other covers sound better
