This just blew my mind of how quickly I was able to pick this up with your direction. I used to be known as the beatboxing desk banging kid in school who always got in trouble for it when I wouldn't be quiet cause people were looking at me and bopping their head. I let go of that art once I joined the army. The army for me was a long time ago but rn like 5 min before I watched your video I had the inclination to just try again and my skill rn it not as horrible as I thought it would be for even just only practicing as you were explaining it to me and it put a smile on my face and I thought I should share this moment. Thank you.
Bro... Literally I've been trying to do liprolls for years. I've been able to figure out a lot of varieties of liprolls with breathing in but could never figure out how to do it without breathing. I'm only 5:04 into your video and I've figured out the regular liproll without breathing.. You are a beatbox God. 🙏
I've been beatingboxing for about 10 years, and I learned back when fattony was putting out tutorial videos! I must say your tutorials are very in depth with great breakdowns of each step. This sound took me about 1 month of practicing almost every day for a few hours to gain considerable control and mastery of the lip roll and sub bass. I watched your tutorial after learning the sound, and I really wish I would have seen this before learning it. I specifically like how you explain what the sound will be when first learning. It really helps to know when you are on the right track for the sound. Top notch teachings! Fattony would be proud! Keep practicing! Love and respect from US!
Okay so here's the deal: I have been trying to learn the basic lip roll for over 2 years now. I give it a shot at least once per day, but I can't keep up longer than a few minutes, because I get frustrated since I can not see any improvements since the very beginning and I feel like I'm stuck, not knowing what to do differently. Here are the problems I can figure out myself: 1. I feel like my lips dont vibrate properly. To be honest I still even dont know if its the upper or the lower lip that should be vibrating. 2. I think the mouthposition is quite good even though I struggle to keep the "sad face" during the process of dragging air inside. 3. If I try to inhale air (for the lip roll bass), I can only reach the sub frequency, which may refer to the problem with the lips not vibrating properly. 4. If I try to extend the vibration I can either maintain the mouth position, which results in a short "burst" of vibration (more like the kissing sound) OR I really focus on the extension, which makes me lose the exact mouth position! I get the deeper vibration but I'm still missing the hollow ending of the sound. Also does lowering my jaw mean, I can redirect it into the center or do I have to drop it on the side, where I moved it in the very beginning? Idk if this wrap up of my experience makes any sense but it clearly shows how desperate I am :D. If anyone has any good advice I'd be so thankful! And if it's only "keep practicing" (which I fear is the problem...) I aprreciate you taking the time to read
I’m right there with you man I’ve been practicing every day, to and from work and it just is not working at all. Even using my lungs to just try to get anything that sounds remotely similar to his but it just does not work. It’s always too high pitched whether I loosen my lips or not I just cannot hit that low… shits aggravating
Here is a tip from someone who took 6 months to learn it and noticed smth most videos doesn’t mention: the position of you tongue is crucial for the air flow inside your mouth, so try experimenting different position of it inside you mouth. For me it works when the top (not tip) of my tongue if facing the side of my mouth that im trying to do the lip roll. Hope it helps 😊
@@xDarkVodka thanks for the advice man! Since I typed my comment I actually managed to do the inward lip roll bass!! It still sounds quite flat but I finally got to the point where I can practice and play around a little. Downside is that I still did no progress (at all) with the standard lip roll. I just cant get the hang of extending the sound. The transition from the short "kissing-burst" to the extended, more hollow lip roll is still nowhere to be found :/
I was shocked how simple the setup of doing the liproll bass was. I was doing it the wrong way until I watched this. Super quick and super informative video. 💯

I think it took me most of a year (like 8 months or more) to get the basic liproll, but I didn't practice a ton. The liproll bass was fairly easy to get after that. I think I get the idea of the sub-bass liproll, but I have trouble controlling it. For example, sometimes I can't hold the sound, and I slip back into a liproll bass. I guess I just need more practice. Thanks for the video. P.S. -- Thanks for noting that the sub-bass is actually higher than the liproll bass. It sort of seemed that way to me, but I kept thinking it should be lower, since it's a "sub-bass" sound, which might have caused some confusion for me. This helps clear things up. Thanks.
I already know how to do both inward and basic liproll for over a year and still Sensei SkilleR can teach me something new!
