Diana is an amazing writer! The Bees Book does not Disappoint. I am so happy I'm still alive to enjoy this new one. Hope I'll still be here for 10!!! Thank you Diana! You actually were one of many reasons I survived waiting 7 years for a lung transplant and survived it. Now I'm hoping to make it the next 5 to 10 years for your next book. Keep on writing these wonderful stories.
I’ve been reading the Outlander novels since 1991 when the first book came out and I was in high school. Now my daughter is about to graduate from high school herself and I’m still utterly fascinated by these books! Diana is a literary genius!
Diana my most anticipated moment in the book happened in the very last sentence of the book so I’m still on the edge of my seat waiting for the beautiful bonding of these characters. I love how you’ve written Jamie and Claire in this book, their seasoned marriage is beautiful.
I would really love the next book to explain more about the stones and how they work. It's such an interesting premise to have an actual time machine and how you can travel through it by thinking about where you want to go. Huge fan!
What a delightful discussion. So happy to learn that neither Jamie nor Claire is "ready to die" meaning it will be someone else in Bees. And based on the way Diana phrased it, could live beyond Book 10. Also delighted to hear Lord John continues to support the Frasers for the time being. One of the best "mushrooms" ever. Brianna is, as Diana has mentioned previously, a hard nut that she began to understand better through Roger's response to her. Fascinating stuff. Thank you for the insights.
After immediately loving the first book years ago, I have been recommending Outlander while saying "I envy you the initial read.". So I am savoring Diana's latest masterpiece.
We were married 55 yrs last September and Herself is writing about Jamie & Claire as they matured and have been married a very long time now!! I love that!! That used to be be the norm!!
Was just going to write the same thing. Truly extraordinary. One of the things about her process I love the most is how characters kind of boss her around as they take the story to unexpected places. I was just rereading the other day about Claire and how she wouldn't stop talking in in a way that was nothing like an 18th Century woman would have spoken. . She was clearly from another time, and that's how the book came to be about time travel. As a writer of nonfiction for decades who struggles with fiction, I would give a lot to have that kind of experience. That Diana is also a scientist and a creator of software (I think that's right) makes her even more of a genius. What amazing gifts she has. She has wasted nothing. I don't just read her books, I devour them as, I suspect, we all do.
Yes, the mental image that creative people build to accurately produce the worlds they create is interesting. When we read we "see" in our mind's eye what we read. Good to know the writers "see" it too so they are just describing what they see.
I could rave about the books, the show and all things in between. However what I appreciate the most are the many hours I've been given through reading both the book and watching the show; at times they have been sanity savers. It's a tremendous gift to have both to look forward to. I SO MUCH appreciate what each person has provided to each part (book and show). I can only imagine that writing a much anticipated book is a bit of a weight. Then, the show has much to live up to. I appreciate the talent. And, most importantly, I appreciate the LOVELY people involved. Thank you for being so generous with your time, spirit and creativity.
I INHALED the new book in two days, it was sooooooo good. Made me laugh, cry and feel all the feelings you can imagine. Diana Gabaldon is a genius. I'm really glad Lord John is a stable recurring character, because he and Ian are my favorites.

I've just started Book 9. As a writer myself, Diana is my inspiration. Swiss Family Robinson was a favorite of mine, and the Outlander series has that historical/fantasy aspect that I love. They are as well-crafted as any classic ever written. Besides Jamie and Claire, I find Lord John and young Ian two of the most interesting characters (among many).
I'm also a writer. Diana is extraordinary. But when I read her books, I ask myself "Why bother?" because she's so brilliant and although I'm considered to be a good writer I don't think I could ever reach her level. Her writing brings me wonder, awe and ecstasy.

“Bees” was great. I waited so long (as did everyone) that I started it just after midnight on the release date. The power of digital books! I love that Diana’s books are huge/long. They still leave me wanting more and looking forward to the next book. Re-reading them has been almost as delightful as the first read. Discovering more time travelers was a great twist. Bees left an awful lot of cliff hangers. I won’t say more as I don’t want to spoil anything for other readers. I also love the STARZ series and wish there were more episodes per season.
Mrs Gabaldon, your creativity and skill to weave these rich characters and wonderful storylines have been my repeated delight throughout these past 25+ years. I would reread from the first book when each new book came out, then reread books each TV season came out, rewatched series.
