I enjoy your videos because you go to DIFFERENT places (because of the Silver Propeller Challenge) but this is much better than other narrowboat videos that seem to stay on two or three different canals and don't travel much. Its like living in a motorhome or carvan and never going anywhere. I enjoy it so much that you show us the small towns, old buildings, and wonderful countryside.
Really pretty canal. Thanks for mentioning the houses along the way. Today I took a short detour to see pictures of Newby Hall. The other day I took a virtual trip to Beningborough House. Nice history lessons for the area.
Such an apt name for your boat, well done indeed on No 24 ticked off the list. Hardest working vloggers on you tube but still so laid back. Love it, thank you.
I loved those quick pictures of the basin, that we got to see all of it. When I go out travelling by train I love when coming to the end of the line to take pictures of the stop buck there to get the feeling of that it´s final.
It is well worth spending a couple of days exploring Ripon. When we were there it rained - Monsoon rained. Just a bit South of your mooring is The Most Pretty Services block on the system, it is like a little country cottage inside and out, and there is a 48 hour mooring there as well. Just near there is a garden with a lot of railway paraphenalia which is Quite Interesting.
Oh Jo, i feel for you about the open Oil. At least you didn't do like my mum who grabbed the Spray Oil can and sprayed the house for flys thinking she had the fly spray. that took soo long to clean the film of oil of everything.
Newby Hall - beautiful gardens. Beyond Ripon - Studley Royal and Fountains Abbey - simply sublime. I do like your camel, meant to say on a previous occasion, or two. #24 Wow. Slightly ashamed at the number of times I've been through Ripon - on-route to Fountains - and not noticed the canal.

Several things... First you two are as cute as can be together. I love all the places you go...even the Slough Arm and BCN...not great examples of canal beauty, but a waterway network cannot all be a glorious tree-lined historIcal boat journey, I suppose. I am glad you got the first Silver Propeller! You deserve that honor. The way you are going I would not be surprised to see a Gold Propeller created. Bits of history, mix of time-lapse with real-time, narration, intros and outtros...it all works. I never really considered just how much work that all was until I watched Jo’s “How to make a VLog” series. Oh my, what an effort. Now I hear the little white dots to lower and raise music sound level, see the blends of videos and appreciate the music breaks blending on the right beat. I do miss an occasional episode of narrow boat vegan cooking, and atrocious irreverent beer reviews. I am always looking for the next installment.
I hope we do some more cooking videos in the future, but they rather require getting stuck long enough for Jo to catch up on the traveling vlogs... as for the beer reviews, blech! M

I spent some of my formative years in Ripon, California 😁 It was quaint but I think I would have preferred the British version. Always wanted to visit.
You really must get to York in late February, when this covid is over. We have Vikings from all over Europe for a week. Some would make you look tiny! The Railway Museum has the World's fastest steam train,Mallard. Its held the record since 1928.

Luckily it had all pretty much re-opened, although that presented some worrying crowds given the need to keep social distancing. Sadly we’re off sweets right now, so just looked at the shop longingly! M

They’re Motorola units, they take a single pin accessory port that’s odd to Motorola and only certain models... we’ll be fine without until they come into stock, I’m sure. M
Although not directly related to this vlog (interesting though it is) I thought I'd mention what I was doing yesterday (Monday 10th August.) As part of his policy of making me walk more than I would ordinarily do, my Brother in Law (same age as me, but insanely fit - cycled solo to Geneva last year, because he could) decided we should do some "Industrial Archaeology" - investigate the Lancaster canal near Kendal. I know, I know - it stops at Tewitfield. We visited a small section being restored quite close to Tewitfield - very encouraging - then visited Hincaster Tunnel. Unlike the impassable Norwood Tunnel on the Chesterfield and the M6 Motorway built over another part of the Lancaster (and almost impossible to pass, even if funds were available) the Hincaster Tunnel is in rude health and a very imposing structure. There is even enough water in it to float a narrowboat, although nothing more at either end. Finally, we went through Sedgewick, where the canal served the gunpowder works (!) thence into Kendal to get fuel for my journey home today, then visited a unique canal structure. The only crossover bridge in Cumbria! I think it is bridge 182 and it carries a road over a public footpath, that was the line of the canal. About a half mile north of that, was once a basin terminus of the Lancaster canal. It would be lovely to restore the canal to Kendal, but I fear the 'cost/benefit' analysis would stop it, because the Lancaster is understandably isolated by the Ribble link. But a fascinating afternoon that sort of extends your visit, earlier in the lockdown.
Sounds like a great walk, and the tunnel sounds right up my alley to visit! Would absolutely love to see it opened further north, if only to settle that dispute with Yorkshire about Ripon being higher! ;-) M
3:19 it's not actually a first for you to be in the middle of a roundabout, it's a least a third as there is one in Reading that spans the River Kennet about a kilometre from the junction with the River Thames. goo.gl/maps/TCJViA12MdybEBhb7
They’re the Motorola Talkabout T92 H20 model; not the cheapest, but they’re waterproof, float, and are simple enough to use with gloves on, unlike a lot of the cheaper units we’ve seen. Only drawbacks are they’ve got a useless flashlight function that’s too easy to enable and drains the batteries, plus no actual attachment point for a lanyard, which would be better than the clunky belt clip / truly useless whistle. But overall they work well. M
I ordered these today Michael after your recommendation and reading some excellent reviews. Thanks again for your assistance. Keep cruising to more Silver Propellers. See you both on the cut sometime I’m sure...
Most of our music is from the RUclips Audio Library, glad to hear you like it. The tracks on this video are listed below. Moving On - Wayne Jones Picnic on the Roof - The Whole Other
We’re 57’, and they definitely were not long but didn’t feel anywhere near as tight as the Pocklington or the Calder & Hebble. We didn’t have scads of room or anything, but it wasn’t a problem. M
Hey there Jo, Just so you know you've been in the middle of a roundabout before when you went to the Winsford end of the River Weaver. Google co-ordinates (53.192515, -2.517121) Take care all 3 off you.. Regards Steve
Ahh, you’re right! Couldn’t see that one except via Google! Apparently there’s another one we passed through in London as well, just before Paddington Basin! M
Having crossed it so many times on the A1 and seen the sign, Ive often wondered if it was grammatically correct that the water in that river could be called Urine ?! (When you drive late at night on your own a lot, one gets a little bored!)
They’re Motorola, specifically the Talkabout T92 H2O model... came in a kit as a pair. Waterproof, they float, and unlike a lot of the less expensive ones they’re brightly colored and easy to use with gloves on. Only thing we don’t like is they’ve only got a belt clip, and for some reason they don’t have a lanyard, or indeed any obvious means of attaching them to one. M
Beautiful. I love the rain sky and the views. Lovely video.
Thank you! 😊
Thanks so much. That was great. Congratulations on your 24th Silver Propeller.

Heh, tru dat. M
You have been through a roundabout before. First two bridges in to Paddington Basin.

Does that all craft left include small craft like canoes and kayaks?
I believe so, unless you want to sail over the weir! M
I see why you called Burbage, Burbridge on the K&A
Yep... they all sort of run together once you’ve been to so many! M
What music do you use?? makes it easy to watch which is great..
Most of our music is from the RUclips Audio Library, glad to hear you like it. The tracks on this video are listed below.
Moving On - Wayne Jones
Picnic on the Roof - The Whole Other
Ripon is supposed to have short lock(s) did you find that? How long are you. Xxx
We’re 57’, and they definitely were not long but didn’t feel anywhere near as tight as the Pocklington or the Calder & Hebble. We didn’t have scads of room or anything, but it wasn’t a problem. M
It sounds like you had a good time on the Rippon.
Definitely! M
😃😃
A great shame that they cannot link the UK canal system out to the Norfolk Broads.
Well they can. You just need to go round the outside!
@@MinimalList Via the sea? In a canal boat? Not a good idea!
Could always truck it there 😇
@@janhjorth965 Yes, I know, but just a shame that the Broads are not directly connected.
I’m still trying to get Jo to let me take it round the ocean way, but it might be easier to do a Kickstarter for a trailer! M
Hey there Jo,
Just so you know you've been in the middle of a roundabout before when you went to the Winsford end of the River Weaver.
Google co-ordinates (53.192515, -2.517121)
Take care all 3 off you..
Regards Steve
Ahh, you’re right! Couldn’t see that one except via Google! Apparently there’s another one we passed through in London as well, just before Paddington Basin! M
@@MinimalList It just goes to show people do actually take note of your superb vlogs....
"Ure" is pronounced "Yore" - hence the boats with "Yoredale" on them.
Having crossed it so many times on the A1 and seen the sign, Ive often wondered if it was grammatically correct that the water in that river could be called Urine ?!
(When you drive late at night on your own a lot, one gets a little bored!)
Strange that they decided to spell it incorrectly! M
Sure it wasn't a rat.... quick question, we are about to by some walkie talkies, which ones do you guys have?
They’re Motorola, specifically the Talkabout T92 H2O model... came in a kit as a pair. Waterproof, they float, and unlike a lot of the less expensive ones they’re brightly colored and easy to use with gloves on. Only thing we don’t like is they’ve only got a belt clip, and for some reason they don’t have a lanyard, or indeed any obvious means of attaching them to one. M
@@MinimalList Many thanks, I had seen those. Thinking they are a good idea.
BORRA BRIDGE
AHHH! M
The cover really needs to go back on the oil or it will become rancid much sooner.
Weasel?
Bit large for a rat, weasel, mink, or stoat... but maybe a particularly giant one!? M
Why the thumbs down.....I'm confused.
Some people just like to complain, is all we can figure. Ahh well, oddly enough RUclips doesn’t care and considers it the same as a like! M
Why has Godzilla stopped eating the mic?
Heh... sometimes he’s just not that peckish! M
Well he has eaten a few over the years. Giant reptilians can be fussy eaters I guess. Bit like my kids!
I look forward to the time when Micheal can get his normal look back. Even on the third video, the trimmed beard still seems out of place.
You and him both!
River Ure is pronounced as your
