Lee is one of the great characters in the history of golf, but he's also more than that. If he was on, he could clean the clock of the world's best. And he's STILL teaching people.
Look at Super Mex donning the Sunday Red and Black. Power colors he called it. Man, could he pure it. If I need one in the fairway to save the family I'm calling Lee Buck Trevino!
Even more impressive that Trevino held it together while waiting to hit so many shots over the last six holes. Nicklaus' speed of play, or lack thereof, is legendary and Trevino having to wait and wait couldn't have been easy. Not saying Jack did anything wrong, his focus on every shot led to a legendary career but, wow, really puts opponents who play at a fast tempo at a big disadvantage.
@@Oxymandius it is a USGA event, but it absolutely counts as win on the PGA Tour. Do you think Lee Trevino's first PGA Tour win was the 1968 Hawaiian Open and that he has 23 PGA Tour wins instead of 29?
Yeah …very interesting…he was quirky then and not considered long…but man could he play….as naturally gifted and talented with his own very unique individual swing…the John McEnroe of the golf pro world for sure….without the shouting…one of my favorite players of all time.
Thk U for this great video. However, in the future, for those who dont already know, plz dont put the final result in the title, as some are watching for the 1st time

My two favorite golfers, Trevino when I was a youngster, and Tiger in my adulthood, both wore red and black.
18 green was so far back from the hill compared to today, I caddie here and its great to see the course as it was in 69.

Great golfer - first tour victory just happens to be the US Open - Lee Trevino really is a great golfer and great character
and did shoot all 4 rounds in the 60s
US Open is not a PGA Tour Event

Underrated
Look at the equipment. Look at the balls. Look at the greens..... Look at the total majors... Jack is the GOAT 🐐

Lee is the man who overcame racism and discrimination in the golf world to become an all-time great and legend.
Jack darn near drove it to the camera crane on 18, lol, they probably hadn't seen too many balls out there, took work for them to find his drive.
More people would watch this great stuff, if you didn’t but the result in the title
Lee Trevino is the only golfer who shoot 4 rounds in the 60s
I think Kopeka matched him
@@truthlifefishing1730I beg the differ Lee Janzen did the feat in 1993
@@StFidjnr So Brooks Kopek didn't shoot 4 rounds in the 60s ?
He's talking about 1968.

Even back then, Arnold would not win another major.
