I lived in Yemen for over 4 years in the early 00's. I can affirm everything George said, and more. They would give a lost and starving enemy their own bed, the shirt off of their back and their last piece of bread but nobody should mistake their kindness for weakness. Every Yemeni has been forged on the anvil of millennia of history on their land. The mountains, deserts and wadis of Yemen reward the brave and steadfast but it harshly punishes the weak of body and mind. They live not because they have conquered Yemen...but because they honor, respect and live within that great land. They can never be defeated.

The Houthi Yemeni remind me of the Afghani Freedom Fighters. Where bearded, sandal wearing, cave-dwelling, goat herders, armed with 100 year old rifles, and riding bicycles, defeated the USA-UK-NATO armed occupation forces. In the UK Navy 1966 I visited Aden-Yemen, , for oil-bunkering. I visited the crater-area-Aden-Yemen and there was a UK armed presence back then. And in the years 2002-2011 I sometimes had Yemeni Houthi scholarship students in my Saudi Uni. classes. They were a thoroughly decent group of people.
