Yes the 96-00 Honda Civics are considered “ek” by the Honda community however each body style and trim level have their own serial numbers. Your car is an EJ6 to be specific.
Drive a k series & your see why & I don't mean a Honda that comes with a k b series are nice I have a itr but k series is the big daddy you can get a stock k & put a ebay turbo kit & make 500-600 stock engine b series can't do that

K series heads flow higher CFM’s, they have roller rockers, bigger displacement, more aluminum cast surround the can, and they spool turbos quicker. K series have been proven to handle up to 800hp stock internals. K is better for na and forced induction.

I’m piecing everything for my K swap currently and I added everything up to around 7k now I just gotta buy little by little until it’s time

You don't need family in another loc, just search on out of state Montana vehicle registration, it can be done but you gotta be a little resourceful.
